Lol don’t worry, the whole reason I was laughing is precisely because I had no context. I think the might have been making fun of her friend’s pronunciation (she’s half-white herself and not really the type to go yelling at white people for tiny things) but because I had no context it literally did just sound like she was mad at white people that quinoa existed.

Yeah, and I appreciate that - I’m just especially mad at myself considering that this came on the heels of me being all like “AAAAHHHHHH someone’s trying to start internet drama with me fetch me a fainting couch for I do so detest drama” and then made a bunch of posts about how I hate drama so much and then... started... some drama... myself....

*responding to your tags* Considering how mobians' ears are in a totally different place on the head, not only the lenses but the frame would have to be built totally differently as well I'd imagine.

This reminds me of something, actually. It’s from the comics universe, whereas Riders is the games universe, but I remembered noticing that at one point, when Shadow was talking through a communicator in his ear, he indeed puts his finger where his ear actually is on his head, rather than simply copying a human gesture to listen to a comm:

I remember thinking it looked a little odd at first, because he’s touching near the top of his head above his eye which is a completely different gesture than a human would make to accomplish the same thing, but it would look even weirder if he wasn’t touching his ear at all.

It’s nice that at least in this case, they actually took into account the difference between Mobian and human biology, and had Shadow make a gesture that made sense for his body structure rather than something that would look more familiar to human readers, but ultimately wouldn’t make any sense in context.

In any case, back to the matter of sunglasses:

Shadow’s and Sonic’s shades in the Riders series are positioned in front of their ears, seemingly not held in place by anything at all. Mobian heads are significantly bigger than human heads:

So since there’s no way those shades were made to fit humans, and they would also be useless for actually shading the eyes of any Mobian wearing them, my conclusion is that they’re literally just for style, made for Mobians who want to adopt the human style of wearing sunglasses nonfunctionally on the top of their head. Sonic is absolutely the type of person to acquire and wear a pair of sunglasses purely for style points, but Shadow is far more pragmatic, which is what led me to conclude that Rouge was the one who gave them to him, lmao.

The internet tells me they have a lot of colloquial names (including mole crabs) but are known as “emerita” scientifically. Here we always just called them sand crabs. When I was little I was scared of them because of the word “crab” (I thought they would pinch me), but my friends put them in my hands and said they were harmless. I would always find one and hold it for a minute or so when I went to the beach. They’re adorable, shy little creatures, and when they move on your hand it tickles a little. I love them.
