I wrote this pretty feminist fairy tale thing where a girl talks to a rose and the rose spouts all these metaphors about getting dethorned and cut from the bush etc. etc. and then you find out that the girl is married and pregnant, and so the correlation is pretty explicit

I called the piece "Contre les hommes" (against men) as a response to "Contre Qui, Rose?" and my professor's very first comment:

Well, there not all bad. :)

MY PROFESSOR PULLED A #NOTALLMEN ON MY METAPHORICAL PIECE ABOUT CHILD-BRIDES AND ARRANGED MARRIAGES AND DIDN'T EVEN SPELL IT RIGHT

and he just couldn't get over the fact that the rose was mad about people trying to pluck it off the bush???? the rest of his comments are all like "the rose is so bitter, I don't really like it as a character, I also don't get how the opening rant against men relates to the piece as a whole?"

FIRST OF ALL THE PIECE AS A WHOLE IS A RANT AGAINST MEN BUT SPECIFICALLY THE PATRIARCHAL STRUCTURES THAT MADE IT OkAY FOR TWELVE YEAR OLDS TO GET MARRIED AND START HAVING BABIES AGAINST THEIR WILL

like we're not allowed to talk while our pieces are critiqued and I was just sitting there trying not to show my stupefaction

savage-damsel was mercifully next to me scrawling "OH MY GOD" across her copy of my piece every time someone said something mind-numbingly wrong so I had that bit of comfort but like

wow

she is also choosing to believe that the professor had not gotten any sleep when he read my story which is a comfort but GOOD LORD it was UNREAL
