Any advice on scenting things? It's something I struggle with but I remember my mum used to spray her perfume on my pillows and stuff so might start doing that
Honestly, spraying perfume or any other fragrances is a great way to scent objects! Plus, it really depends on what you want to get out of scenting.
If you simply want things to smell like you, then congrats! Humans are pretty stinky on their own, so most of your belongings likely smell like you! Sadly, we can't smell ourselves very well so you won't know it smells like you. For extra stink, rub your skin on them! Anywhere with sweat glands would be best- but I'd avoid the armpits. You want smell, probably not BO. You can spray fragrances onto them as well!
If you want to smell yourself, as in being able to smell yourself and be covered in your own scent, fragrances are also great! I'd recommend a rotation so you don't go noseblind, since that's something I struggle with at times. The best spread for things like colognes or perfumes is to cover where your scent glands are. I do a spritz on each wrist, then a spritz on each side of my neck. You can also spray your hips if you'd like!
If you want to practice scenting for misce and/or species affirmation, I'd honestly recommend rubbing your face, the sides of your neck, and your arms on things. Also, rolling around in your sheets for optimal stinkage. It's also a fun workout!
A mixture of all of these is what I personally do! I would also recommend looking into fragrance oils (or anything you rub directly onto the skin), since applying them is veerrryy euphoric for me. Plus, they soak into the skin pretty well, last long, and smell WONDERFUL.
You mentioned your pillow so I assumed you meant scenting objects, but these methods can also work on people and pets. If you do want to scent a pet, for whatever reason although I do NOT recommend it, PLEASE ENSURE IT IS PET SAFE. Lots of fragrances have ingredients pets would find uncomfortable, painful, or possibly deadly.
The best advice I have ABOVE ALL ELSE IS:
FOLLOW YOUR INSTINCTS!!!
Scenting should feel good and satisfying! Do whatever your mind and/or body urge you to do! Whatever you decide is valid.
