What is Diana’s and Waldo’s love story? How did they meet and fall in love? How does he feel about the Cashworthy family dynamic?
Pretty boring, but I ended up writing a lot, so ...
Diana and Waldo met on their first train ride to school. She told him about the mystery novel she was reading and the two talked about various outcomes for half the trip.
Clowns are often dismissed by other species as silly, even in academic settings, so Waldo and Diana stayed in touch and would meet up regularly to chat about classes and the shared awkwardness of going to a majority bird monster university.
Waldo studied computer science and Diana, ever the overachiever, double majored in accounting and business. The two took some of the same classes and really bonded during study dates. They dated and got married right after graduating. When you know, you know.
Despite being around the same age and from a small kingdom, Diana was unaware of the shy, dorky Waldo. He definitely knew about the Cashworthy family; the richest and clowns in Clowny Island. Waldo heard that the Cashworthys were cold and ruthless business people, and that even the king was afraid of them.
As for family, the Ashew family is pretty average. Waldo has nice parents and normal, well adjusted older brothers. They love Diana and are happy that he married rich...or managed to find anyone at all.
Waldo and the Cashworthys:
Waldo found it super sweet how much Diana and Leo love each other. She'd make sure to call him at least once a week and he'd always be waiting at the train station for her. Diana's little brother was a young teen when Waldo first met him. Little Leo tried to impress him right away by attempting to do a back-flip, which failed...
Waldo didn't see how these two friendly, eager to please, siblings could come from such a feared family, so for a while, he assumed that the rumors were overblown.
Over the years, he's come to realize how essential Diana and Leo are to each other. Sure, Waldo finds it annoying that her brother regularly drops by unannounced (he has a house key), but he knows that if he said anything negative about Leo, Diana would leave him in an instant.
Waldo has always found Aries intimidating and Gemma practically non-existent. Right after their engagement, Diana's parents thoroughly interrogated him and had his records and history scrutinized. Including intense interviews with his family and friends. They concluded that he really was just a harmless nerd and made him sign a pile of prenuptial agreements.
As a personal choice, they each kept thier own last names. Their daughters, Griffin and Chimera (aka Chimi) have a combination last name, Cashew.
Waldo does his best to stay out of any family drama. Critisizing Diana's family a minefield, because for as much stress and trauma they put her through, she'll still defend them. Familial love is...complicated.
Anyway, tldr, Diana and Waldo are two nerds who met in college and love each other. Diana overworks herself and tries to keep everyone happy, and Waldo reminds her to rest and that she is loved.
She can mute noise within a small radius around her.
Fun fact: Like Pascal, Sonia is based on an ooold oc I made up when I was like 11 or so. She was a librarian who was a party girl off the clock. I did a redesign for a "redraw your old cringe characters" thing in 2020, then I brought her back in "Lantern Day" in 2022 and recently with another redesign.
She's still kind of a librarian. Sonia's old job involved collecting, organizing, and classifying records for the Mimopolis government. As a result, she tends to be a little paranoid.
Love the fact that pretty much the whole circus just assumed Manet and Louis were a thing and just… accepted it.
Like here is the former queen and her hot mime servant/lover.
Hilarious 🤣🤣🤣
Heheh. I think it's a valid assumption. They're always together, Louise's relationship with King George was ~strained~, and they basically raised 5 kids together...
