(the photograph, rather anticlimactically, is actually of onion cells, but i really loved the clear shapes and colours they produce under a microscope)

While raking the yard I came across a fallen oak branch that had some black jelly roll fungus on it. The top left is the undersurface of the fungus, while the other pictures are of the upper surface where its spores are produced. The star-looking thing in the top right picture might be an oak trichome, or oak hair, if you will.
Honeybee study
Recently, i had a microscopy class and got to draw several insects, lichens and flowers inder high-powered microscopes, and this lady was fascinating. The little zig-zags between her wings are little hooks that zip her wings together when she flies so the four wings act as one pair. unfortunately, the top of the paper got damaged and I can show you her lovely antennae.
