Why is everyone suddenly convinced we're getting Buck being shot in Episode 8?!?

I don't want that as a cliffhanger!!!

(Cause knowing our luck, Buck will get shot, Eddie's reaction will be seen, and then it'll cut to black and end the episode! )

Oh, anon, I'm so sorry, but this did make me laugh a bit; the only place I've seen this discussed is in my dms with @misshiss727 . So I'm laughing a little bit at how insane we all are, lol.

We had a well callback in 8x06, and we are also having a lightning callback in 8x07. I think there is a really strong chance to callback the shooting in 8x08 to complete whatever plan Tim is hatching. In all likelihood, I think it's going to be a call where a first responder is shot, not anyone in the 118 getting shot themselves.

HOWEVER. I think there is a slightly higher chance than I am currently giving credit to that Buck could get shot. My reasoning here is that there has been some confirmation that Tim was trying to make buddie go canon with the shooting arc, but was shot down. And now that we are revisiting important moments for Buck and Eddie, it feels purposeful and pointed to be leading up to a big buddie moment. This brings us back to the shooting; if Tim wants to revisit big Buck and Eddie arcs, the shooting is obviously next. Shooting Buck this time would be an opportunity to do what he originally wanted to, likely bringing up the will and how important Buck and Eddie are to each other.

I don't think it will be our mid-season cliffhanger. If Buck were to get shot, it should happen in 8x07 to callback Eddie getting shot at the end of 4x13 (or 4x14?). And I really think we won't do another shooting, its too on the nose. Considering what Oliver has said in interviews, I think the mid-season cliffhanger is going to be Buck and Eddie arguing in 8x08, and one of them getting hurt after. Or an argument that leads to Eddie going to get Christopher. And lastly, I'm expecting Bobby and Brad to be a big part of these last two episode arcs, so we'll see what we have time for!

Look, all the byler kiss scenes are amazing and I want ALL OF THEM! I have two ideal kiss scenarios, though.

It's prom night, or the night after they graduate, and Will and Mike are being so soft and gentle in the basement; just so relaxed and relieved of all the pressure and pain of the last six years. They're just talking and giggling with each other and then they both move in at the same time and have the softest kiss in the world <3

OR

2. The world is going to shit around them and Will is trying to make a sacrifice/convince Mike to escape without him. They're crying and yelling, just an absolute mess and Mike yanks Will to him and kisses him with everything he has. Will still leaves.

So yeah, either the schmoopiest kiss or angst and despair.

No, it didn't get mentioned; they don't usually ask explicitly about buddie. I'm not personally keeping a tally score, either.

Buck and Tommy only had the one mention that I posted earlier. The Paley fest thing was fun but definitely didn't give out any new information. Every question was very focused on where everything was left off last season. Athena and Bobby are house hunting, Madney is taking care of Mara, Henren's plot is also about Mara, Eddie is going on a journey of self-discovery, and Buck hates Gerard. That was about it!

I do generally get a kick out of how little Oliver will expand on bt, though lol.

In regards to [x] I'd recommend the movie, if only for Tim Curry who is incredible as always. And if you like young Tom Cruise, he's in it too.

I do love Tim Curry, I just may watch it tonight instead of cleaning out, as a treat <3. Ngl, I have never seen Tom Cruise in anything, so it would be my first Cruise experience.

Shout out to you about the Glee bit bc I saw so many people praising it and I was kinda dumb founded bc in after gay marriage was legalized, I had a long time friend look me in the eye and say, “what’s next are they gonna let people marry dogs?”

Like, Glee did not fucking end homophobia and like yeah, it did have some of the first queer characters that a lot of people were exposed to but the idea that Buck was somehow post Glee and that there was this magical changing of people’s opinions after glee started and they LOVE gay people now is NUTS

Thank you for the shout out anon! There is so much I could say about that speech but I'm gonna try and be concise.

I know that they were going for a moving moment about homophobia and being excepted, and I will give you some leeway in the fact that I haven't really seen Glee and, sure, it did bring a kind of representation that was lacking to TV. But Buffy had a lesbian couple way before them, Ellen came out in her sitcom in the 90's, Friends had a gay wedding that was somewhat handled well, plus a million other shows that also had queer rep by the late 2000's to mid 2010's. Glee was not the first to do it nor the best, lets be real.

Also, Buck is frankly too old for Josh to use the 'pre-Glee' euphemism. Buck was born in 1991-1992... he's in his fucking thirties, for Christ's sake. Josh has been out longer and is older than Buck, but that doesn't give him or Tommy any right to claim or suggest they experienced homophobia in a way Buck never will. Buck is also Bi, not gay, and his experiences will be different; I'm not saying worse, simply different.

And, like I mentioned in my tags, I've been called slurs, and I'm definitely 'post-Glee'. I'm 26, Glee started airing when I was eleven. I'm Bi, and I've been called a dyke and a faggot and a muffin muncher (I'll be honest I'm not sure if that one is a slur or not, I lean towards not). And those are just by one of my brothers. My church started participating and orchestrating conversion therapy when I was a teenager, a year or so after I realized I was queer. I can't be out at my job because we have a 'morals' clause (it's run by a church, and unfortunately legal). There was a horrible case a few years ago that I won't go too in-depth where a queer couple was murdered and dumped in the river. But police insist it wasn't a hate crime (it was).

I'm not trying to say we shouldn't respect or appreciate our queer elders. But Tommy and Josh aren't really queer elders to Buck in a way that makes the Glee conversation make sense. It just came across wildly tone deaf and like a straight person wrote it; queer people who came after Glee still faced almost 100% of the same struggles as the people before Glee. And the reason we don't face 100% the same struggles is not because of Fucking Glee.

(I'm calling you that now, no take-backsies) Thank you, I'm not sure what is happening in my inbox right now- I have several seemingly angry BT anons and then several doomer buddies pounding on the door. It almost has me thinking someone reposted one of my posts on twitter or reddit, because I never get this kind of attention. Still deciding if I want to answer any tbh.

there are so many options for the buckley-diaz relationship test! i could see eddie going to texas without telling buck (tb to when eddie left the 118 without telling buck first), i could see buck dealing with the break-up in a way that eddie doesn't get so buck might not get the unwaivering support of his shenanigans that he expects. i can see eddie seemingly getting happier and happier as he finds himself while buck wallows (tb to the post laddertruck pre tsunami), like everybody seems super happy (madney baby 2, wilsons reunited, bathena house, eddie happy and making progress with chris maybe and buck feels excluded bc he's lonely).

Nonny, the options are limitless! From what they've said in interviews, it sounds like Buck deals pretty well with the break-up and has Eddie's support, even if Eddie may be distracted by finding his own joy again. Personally, i don't think we'll see too much wallowing on Buck's part; I think 8x07 will have Buck coming to terms with the break-up and by 8x08 he'll be moving onto other things.

I think there is some real potential for them to discuss what is best for Chris, and for some narrative refocusing on what their relationship is like without Chris. They've always had Chris as a buffer and someone that automatically tied them into a family unit, and I would love to see them struggle on that front. I don't want to see an argument where Buck tells Eddie to go get Chris, because I think that should be about Chris and Eddie talking and mending their relationship. I could see a conversation where Buck expresses that he doesn't understand how Eddie can stand to be separated, and Eddie talks about not only does Chris need to find faith in Eddie again, but Eddie needs to find out how to be a father while also being true to his own desires. The Chris plot does annoy me at this point, but lets be real, Christopher's actor moving away is the reason we've dragged it out this long; they need a reason for Chris to not be there and this is the reason they chose.

They specifically mentioned 'difficulties' and 'testing their relationship in different ways'. And I am just over here agonizing over it! It could be something that is really not a big deal in the long run, or it could be something that moves their relationship into new territory. One more thing I will speculate though, is that I'm tentatively wondering if they will leave us on a cliff-hanger or leave Buck and Eddie in limbo with whatever these difficulties are for the mid-season finale. Depending on the gravity of the situation, it may make for some great hiatus speculation and keep people interested over the break. Less than two week until the hiatus starts... 🥹😭
