Unit 82 - Criteria 2
• Manage costume construction staff with confidence and efficiency For the theatre show 'Oh what a lovely war' we wrote out tasks for each other to things done as quickly and efficiently as possible. For example, If we needed labels written out and cut to size, one assistant would deal with that, whilst ticking off the list of names of actors for each costume that needed a label. to sew the labels in we would get maybe 2-3 people to do this, working on industrial or even domestic sowing machines. Since using the sowing machines for some time, this was performed with confidence since we knew what we was doing, was able to stitch them with ease, and if problems occurred, such as the thread ran out or the snapped, we could fix and repair with any needs of assistance. In my own personal opinion, I wanted to make sure we had a steady flow of work with each person working on different jobs. I would ask people what jobs they're most comfortable/capable of doing, and say they should do this. But would also ask to swap around to challenge myself and others with different tasks they felt not strongly about. We would make sure for the actors that if they were using rehearsal skirts, shoes and hats, we would tell them to use the sign in/out sheet so that we could keep track of what could go missing or break and be quick to react to it and deal with the problem at hand.
