Hey plushblr, quick thingies you may not have known about build a bear
We do repairs on bears for free! Literally just call ahead to your nearest store. As far as I know we repair holes and some stains as well
However we're not allowed to modify or do anything to any non BAB plushie, and that includes adding stuffing
You are 100% allowed to call our stores and ask if we have a specific thing in stock before you come in and we actually encourage it!
Related, we can also hold certain items, but only until the end of the day
We can do online orders in the store! They're called enterprise orders, and will usually get you free shipping. Not everything on the website can be enterprised but we can always check and see, plus it helps our store metrics
Idk how many people actually know these things, but I feel like they would be useful to at least someone lol
Low quality aplatonic Ramona Flowers icon cuz I feel like it
No need to credit me if you use it lol, it's just a neat thing
punk rant time let's go
okay so to me, language and definitions for things are sort of fluid, right? once the collective consciousness for a word's definition shifts, then it becomes a moot point how it was originally used (like the words "gay" and "queer" having different original meanings separate from the "lgbt" contexts they have now)
so my whole thing in the "what is punk: ideals or music/fashion" is that it's simultaneously both together and both separately
because on one hand, what people see as "punk ideals" are from the specific punk bands they know of or listen to where the artists put their own leftist or adjacent ideas into the lyrics and such. but there are bigoted punks and bigoted punk music. you avoid red and white ladder laces on your docs for a reason. but those bigots listen to the music and dress in the fashion, and unless you're already versed in punk social cues you will look at them and go "that's a punk"
on the other hand, "punk" as a social ideal has become more mainstream within the 21st century even though punk as a subculture started as early as the late 70s (very, very loose timeline here, dont @ me). "punk" has become almost synonymous with leftist praxis, and even "counterculture" as a whole, to the point where collective thought is altering the definition of what punk is and what it means
so now we have a dual definiton: punk as subculture, and punk as ideals. is one more "right" than the other? i don't think it's up for me to really say, and i've always been a person who dislikes dichotomies anyways
"but how do i tell if someone is really punk??" you don't. that's none of your business, and tbh that's okay. it's also okay if you're not punk and don't call yourself that. not everyone has to be (or even can be) punk, that almost defeats the "sub" in "subculture" bit
overall it's a nuanced thing, and i think the internet fighting about it is stupid and useless. you wanna call yourself punk? i mean, i can't really stop anyone from doing that so you do you
however, if you do wanna get into the music/fashion of punk hmu, i have some recs for both
How it started vs how it's going
BeeGee the frog turns a year old today 🥺
He was with me through one of the hardest years of my life and he's turned into one of my dearest friends
Yes he's a plushie but I'm so grateful he's in my life
Here's to another year together!
Rewatching La La Land for the first time in a while and yeah, Mia and Seb drifted apart when they became actually stable and even successful because the only real thing they bonded over was being a self proclaimed underdog and having almost a sense of entitlement to the point of unrealistic whimsy that is almost enviable, so when they actually achieve their goals they have no more common ground in the realm of their crusade of artistic suffering. So of course they could never have both, and that's why the movie had to end the way it did and I think that's part of why it was so compelling
Oh. So that's why I enjoy settings like larger discord servers and parties more than one on one hangouts and DMs. That's why I struggle so much with quality time as a "love language". That's why it's hard. That's why I don't like it. There's a word for it.
Like, don't get me wrong. I consider myself very charismatic and extroverted as a general rule, but only on a more surface level. I try to have compassion for others, but platonic love is incredibly rare for me to the point where I think it's only really happened once (with sibling)
Same thing with romantic love. I don't think I'm acespec, but I do have a low libido so while I feel sexual attraction it's not usually a priority
"oh I just use they/them on everyone"
No you don't. You're lying to my face. How do I know that? Because you have never once referred to a cis man as they/them. Not your boyfriend, not the mailman. None of them. It's just me. And I know it's because you don't actually see me as a man and even putting in the effort to memorize my pronouns is too much for you, but I'd honestly rather be misgendered as a woman at this point because at least those kinds of transphobes can say it with their chests.
"oh all men are just horrible like that"
Gee, thanks, that makes me feel so good about myself. Oh, what was that? Oh I'm not like that? So it's not all men? Or did you just conveniently forget I was a man again. And by the way, that's a shitty thing to say about anyone regardless of their genitals, just so you know... so am I horrible like all men are or am I not a man? You've backed yourself into a corner and you know it
"oh but now I feel guilty"
Good. That's your conscience. Put in the damn effort or call yourself what you are: a transphobe. Commit or quit baby.
