Some nice video appearing from a gig at Witch House back in January: Miss Stocking and My 8 Day Weekend. These are both bands that like to create a quiet, almost hypnotic tension in their music. This clip is of Miss Stocking, and it features a beautiful solo from Dudu on bass guitar about halfway through. =) So far, there are 2 songs from Miss Stocking and 1 clip from My 8 Day Weekend's set back at YT.
Earlier tonight was My 8 Day Weekend and Miss Stocking at Witch House. This is a quietly powerful song, with a beautiful bass part played by ARNY. He seems to add an effect on for the last section, a layer of distortion and higher octave, I think. Mumu creates and sustains a wonderful mood, I love her singing. Indie summit at The WALL 賣捌所 UriSabakiJo in Yilan City last weekend! 'Turtle' & 'Dudu' from Miss Stocking, with Riecky & Achino of NineteenTael on the left, and Stanley Hong and Xiaosong in the back. I believe this was Stanley Hong's gig, but I haven't seen any clips of him taking a lead vocal. o.0 Nineteentael also played a set, and Xiaosong sang at least one song. You can see all of that back at Wendy Chen's YT channel. =D
Here's a cute promo for the Stanley Hong gig at The WALL 賣捌所 UriSabakiJo in Yilan City. You can see the backing band being assembled in rehearsal: Xiaosong, and Turtle (accordion) & Dudu (percussion) from Miss Stocking. NineteenTael is also on the bill.
Another really nice review and photo series over at StreetVoice. This is from the show at Legacy Taipei which began with a set from The Girl and the Robots, followed by a set from Miss Stocking, and finally both bands playing together to finish off the evening. =D
「slow」網路首播－女孩與機器人Ｘ絲襪小姐 (by volcanokids) This is the 2nd song from the single released by The Girl and the Robots & Miss Stocking. On this tune, I think robot girl is taking the lead vocal. I love this combination of the Robots synth-electronic pop combined with the guitar rock of Miss Stocking. Great idea to put these bands together like this! They also played together during The Big Deal at Legacy Taipei last weekend. By the way, CLICKfor the other song, called Wet Floor. =)
130601 絲襪小姐 ＠ 賣捌所 - 與泰山無關 (by Wendy Chen) Another live tune from Miss Stocking, recorded at The WALL 賣捌所 UriSabakiJo in Yilan City. This begins like a quiet ballad, but it's really a rowdy scream-along for the audience. 與泰山無關 (This Has Nothing To Do With Tarzan). The song was written some years ago by Riecky Lu from Nineteentael. Riecky has sat in with Miss Stocking in the past, I just watched a couple of clips. You can hear Riecky sing this song with some goofy percussion from Achino (Nineteentael) here: http://www.tudou.com/programs/view/q5jEEFhagDE/.
