I found out via /r/Christianity that some tradcaths, especially Sedevacantists, believe in this extremely strong and literal conception of Holy Tradition - that during Jesus' 40-day post-resurrection ministry, he verbally, explicitly taught the apostles the entirety of church law and the *exact* forms of all the sacraments including the entire Mass, as well as things like when annulments are valid. Basically some tradcaths believe in a Christian version of the Oral Torah/Talmud.

tbh I have a feeling they might actually ripping off those weird Baptists that believed there always existed groups of Christians going back to Jesus that had identical theology to 20th century Baptists they were just hiding around somewhere (Jack Chick believed this).

This is essentially destroying key traditional aspects of Catholicism such as respect for hierarchy (aka the virtue of humility) but its hardly the first time you see trads doing that because the most essential part of their medieval larp is that they do not read books

So, the word “chakra” is a borrowing from the Sanskrit cakra, whose primary meaning is “wheel” or “circle”.  The word’s mystical sense derives from the belief that there are certain spots in the spiritual body, represented by circles, with spiritual importance.  Cakra derives from the Proto-Indo-European *kʷékʷlos.  In the Indo-Iranian branch, as in other satem languages, kʷ and k merged as /k/, which became palatized before front vowels, such as /e/, hence the initial c (representing /t͡ɕ/).  Afterwards, /e/ /a/ and /o/ merged as /a/.

In Proto-Germanic, following Grimm’s Law, *kʷékʷlos became *hwehwlą, which became Old English hwēol, the ancestor of Modern English wheel.

Another descendant of *kʷékʷlos is Greek kúklos, which was borrowed into Latin as cyclus, the source of our word cycle.

You know, everything you've said about left/progressive/woke anti-atheism is so true. At this very moment there are multiple people running around an atheism thread on /r/chapotraphouse screaming "Atheists have NO VALID CRITIQUES of religion!! Go read liberation theology dumbass!" Like...what a strange time.

this reminds me of a convo i had with a friend who used to be really into liberation theology before getting disillusioned with it but who still says that this recent trend of "left/progressive/woke anti-atheism” has no right to identify with liberation theology bc true liberation theology aims at abolishing the present world while this kinda stuff is quite frankly a mix of incredibly milqutoast reformism (in the religious sphere) mixed with bit of (moderated) conservativism in its hyper-defensive attitudes aimed at protecting traditions bc they are traditions.

I don't know if this is something you'd ever be able to share, but it would be really interesting to see a comprehensive list of the sound changes from American English to Trigedasleng.

I think they’re mostly obvious if you look at the vocab.
