Author's note: I'm a bit rusty when it comes to writing so I tried writing a smaller section for the first part of the novel. I’m also open to critique (as long as it IS critique) as I want to become a better writer! I hope you guys enjoy this first part! Also if you guys want me to add what the in lore words mean I will!
Lost
Biting cold and abhorrently dismal.
Those were the first words that came to Abhimanyu’s mind as he took in the scenery before him. It was almost unbearable, but this realm was where traces of the future Asha-taj e D’jaterun’s magic had led them. Thus, here they would surveil.
A puff of air appeared in front of Abhimanyu’s face as he sighed deeply. Nefertari… Abhimanyu’s thoughts were made up of jumbled memories of her. Ever since her disappearance almost ten years ago, he had been searching.
Hoping.
He missed her desperately. His childhood best friend, his Asha-taj, and if he were to be honest with himself…
His first love.
D’jateri, where are you? He thought to himself as he closed his eyes. His thoughts became clearer, a memory floating to the forefront of his mind that caused a small smile to appear on his face yet slowly going away again. Smiles never stayed long on his face these days. You must come back to me soon.
Abhimanyu’s thoughts were interrupted by the sound of quickly approaching hoof steps from behind. The memory put on pause as his attention redirected to the voice beginning to speak from behind him.
“Your excellency!” He recognized the voice of one his soldiers and turned slightly to acknowledge he was listening. At this gesture, the soldier continued, “We believe we have located a strong trace signature of the magick of her Grace. It’s coming 26 clicks south-east.”
Abhimanyu’s felt his shoulders sag in relief.
Ten years…
Ten years of searching of feeling a gaping void in his being, in his soul, was finally about to come to an end. Closing his eyes, Abhimanyu’s allowed the memory that had been interrupted to come back to him.
You once asked me what my earliest memory was, Abhimanyu thought, directing his thoughts outward, hoping that if Nefertari was indeed on this dismal realm, that she’d hear him. Respond to him. Back then, I couldn’t think of an answer, but, D’jateri, if you were to ask me again, right now…
My earliest memory is of you…
