Continuation of The Missing Hero AU
All credit to @sillysonata-deactivated20250716 / @sillysonata for giving me the outline of this chapter and for making this AU. Without further ado:
It wasn’t long before the soft light of dawn was creeping over the horizon when Link realized he hadn’t slept a wink. He’d had too many thoughts about what would happen once he left Ganondorf’s property that he hadn’t been able to rest. He let out a soft breath as he stood up and stretched out his sore back. He would need to hurry through the chores and manor work if he was going to have everything clean and breakfast made before the journey to Castle Town.
Before Link knew it, he was standing behind the towering form of Ganondorf and the weasly shape of Ghirham in front of a carriage. The coachman nodded towards the two noblemen. “I’m sorry, I wasn’t aware I would be chauffeuring a third party.” The coachman commented as he stuck up his nose at Link’s dirty appearance.
He had tried his best to clean his face and hair with the pump water in the kitchen, but there was only so much Link could do about his clothes. He only had one pair, and it was covered so deeply in soot and grim it was almost impossible to imagine Link in anything other than dirt-covered clothing.
“No matter, Gihrahim will sit with the servant.” Ganondorf declared before climbing into the right side of the carriage. Link turned to see how Ghirahim was reacting to the news that, despite his lordship, he would be riding with a lowly servant.
Ghirahim looked livid, despite his rageful glare directed towards Link, he couldn’t help but feel anything except pity for Ghirahim. He had worked so hard to gain the respect and station of Ganondorf, but would never be acknowledged as an equal, no matter what he accomplished.
As he crawled in next to Ghirahim, he was surprised he was allowed into such a fancy coach with his current appearance. He tugged on the frayed hem of his tunic and frowned while glancing towards Ganondorf’s elaborate outfit.
Ganondorf seemed to notice and frowned at him. “You think you, a servant, deserve to wear the garbs fit only for a hero?”
Link shook his head and felt a shiver of fear crawl down his spine. “No, no, I just don’t think-” Ganondorf loomed closer.
“You just don’t think at all, do you?” Link dropped his eyes and bowed his head down like he had learned to do many years ago. “Good. That’s what I thought.” Ganondorf smugly answered as he settled back into his cushioned seat. Link decided to distract himself by looking out the window.
He couldn’t believe how beautiful it was outside. He truly tried to look on the bright side of every situation in an attempt to combat against his selfishness, but it seemed he had been kept in the depths of Ganondorf’s estate for so long he couldn’t remember the feel of a soft breeze or the joy of a sweet summer sun.
His face was nearly pressed against the glass pane of the carriage’s window as he marvelled at the rolling hills and flowing grasses of Hyrule Field. He didn’t think he had ever witnessed a prettier sight. A part of him wished he could always have a view this wondrous. Link dared a glance at Ganondorf to see if he was as taken aback by the scenery as Link was.
Ganondorf was occupied by pulling at the cuffs of his dress shirt and looking absolutely dulled, almost as if the glorious hills didn’t faze him one bit. How could Ganondorf appear so bored when he could see this magnificent sight whenever he pleased? Link felt he could look at Hyrule Field for the rest of his life and never grow bored.
When the sight of Castle Town’s drawbridge came into view, Link was even more captivated by the sights inside the city. Link didn’t think it was possible for him to become any more amazed by the outside world than he had been by the hills of Hyrule Field, but he was in awe that he had been incorrect.
In the center of the town was Hyrule Castle itself. It seemed to reflect the sunlight and glowed with a magnificence that he had never witnessed before. It was like a reflection of sacred glory. The flags bearing the Hylian Royal Crest were beacons of peace and prosperity to all the land, and the towering spires were a symbol of wealth and goodness to all the people.
Link sent up a quick prayer to the Goddesses that his true treacherous nature of power hungry rebellion wouldn’t tarnish the magnificence of the castle. Once he was able to tear his gaze away from the grand spledor of the castle, he was able to look at the people the carriage was passing in the street.
Link knew he wasn’t the only Hylian, but sometimes it was really hard to remember when it was only himself, Ghirahim, Ganondorf, and the Bokoblins. He had never seen so many people, so many different races in one place at the same time. He thought it was quite fitting for so many different people to come together to support the same thing. Peace.
As they continued down the streets towards the castle, Link couldn’t wrap his mind around the sheer number of people milling about the street, just talking to merchants and other sellers. Everywhere he looked, there was a new face.
There were Hylians, Sheikahs, and races he had never seen before. For the first time in his life, he didn’t feel singled out as a villain hiding among the commoners, but instead he felt like a real human among his people. Unfortunately, that feeling ended all too soon for Link.
The carriage came to a jolting stop in front of the castle, and Ganondorf disembarked. He was quickly followed by Ghirahim and Link. As soon as they entered the castle gates, the nobles were welcomed by the palace staff with warm smiles, fair greetings, and pleasantries.
Ghiriham seemed to revel in the acknowledgement of his status and shook every hand while smiling at every young woman. Ganondorf brushed by most everyone with Link trailing behind with no idea what to do except stay by his master. Ganondorf abruptly stopped in front of a man.
“Welcome, Lord Ganondorf!” The man called cheerfully. “Oh, and who might this be?” He asked while gesturing towards Link.
Ganondorf let out a subtle but irritated breath. “This is my housekeeper. He’s only here because I did not want him alone while Hyrule’s King allows me to stay here and discuss business.” The man nodded as Ganondorf continued, “Take him to the servant’s quarters and give him work to do during my stay. He’s not my problem till I leave.”
“But my lord-” The man began before getting abruptly interrupted by Ganondorf.
“Not my problem.” And with that, Ganondorf left Link and the man.
The man sighed and moved to leave the entrance hall. “Follow me, housekeeper.” The man led Link through several twists and turns in the castle to where Link presumed the servant quarters would be located.
The man stopped in front of a door. “Here. Inside, you will find your uniform on your bed. Firstly, you should scrub all the floors in the palace halls, and do try to stay away from any important guests.”
Link wasn’t sure what constituted as an important guest, but he figured he would learn along the way. “You mean to tell me I get my own outfit, and get to stay in the palace the whole time?” Link asked while incredulously marvelling at the servant halls like they were a famous painting.
“Erm, yes. Like I said, you will find everything you will need inside your room, and the supply closet is just down the hall over that way.”
“Goddesses, this is amazing! Thank you so much.”
“Uhm… of course. Now there are only a few rules around here, especially with the welcoming of the sages so recent, but the biggest thing is…” Link didn’t hear the rest of the man’s instructions after he told Link where the supply closet was. He was simply elated to be able to clean the floors of the palace. He would be free to traverse across the entire castle without Ghirahim or Ganondorf breathing down his neck. He was free to explore every nook and cranny at his own leisure. “Did you get all that?” asked the man who apparently had never stopped speaking.
“Uh, yes, sir?”
“Good, good. I’ll leave you to it then!”
After the man left, Link was quick to redress in his new uniform and get to work with a mop and broom. Link dutifully worked away at the lower levels of the castle and worked his way up the palace steps. He was pleasantly surprised that, despite the grand size of the castle, it was well kept by the other servants and required much less time to clean than Ganondorf’s manor, which never seemed to stay free of muddy monster footprints for more than an hour.
In his cleaning, Link ran into several other servants who were cheery and unafraid to take breaks from their tasks. They were happy to talk to him and share information about the goings-on around the castle. Because of the kindness and patience the other servants showed Link, he learned about a recent chase that went on between an intruder and the sages. All of the servants were shocked to hear Link had no idea who the sages were and what they were here for, so they went about explaining everything Link would need to know about them.
Link was almost done with his second-to-last floor, so he decided to explore a little. He wandered down the hallway until he saw a huge portrait on the wall. It was a picture of the King of Hyrule and his daughter, the princess. Something about the princess seemed almost familiar to Link, but he couldn’t quite put his finger on it.
Link wasn’t sure how long he had been staring at the picture when he heard running footsteps coming from around the corner. Link was able to turn towards the sound with just enough time to get barreled into and thrown to the ground.
“Owww…” Link lifted his head off the ground and propped himself up with his elbows. There was a Rito boy sprawled out next to him, rubbing the top of his head.
“Ugh, Father was right. Last time I fly in an enclosed space.”
“Tulin! You need to apologize. You just knocked this poor servant over!” Link turned his gaze to see a Gerudo girl standing with her hands on her hips, and a stern expression.
“I need to apologize?! I’m not the one who said we should race!” All eyes moved to look at the Zora.
“Hey, it’s not my fault! Yunobo said Tulin should be allowed to fly.”
“Woah, woah, woah, I never said-”
“We wouldn’t have been racing if you hadn’t hindered me from stopping that intruder this morning!”
“I stopped you? I think you mean that you got in my way!”
“Can somebody just apologize to the servant?”
“Why don’t you do it then if it’s so important?”
“I didn’t hit him!”
Link cut off the sages' bickering with a timid apology as he pulled himself off the floor. “Excuse me?” All the sages turned to look at him. “I’m really sorry, it’s actually my fault, I shouldn’t have been standing in the hall for so long.”
“What’s your name?” asked the Gerudo girl.
“I’m Link, and you must be the sages then?”
“Yes, we are,” said the Zora. “I’m Sidon, that’s Riju, that over there is Tulin, and that’s Yunobo. It’s nice to make your acquaintance, Link. But if I dare be so bold, it’s not your fault that we ran into you. We were trying to see who here is the strongest, most skilled warrior of us all, since the chase this morning didn’t prove anything.”
“Do you think you could tell us which one is the strongest?” Asked Yunobo.
“I can try.” Link said hopefully.
“You don’t have to try, it’s obviously me!” Tulin jumped in the air and soared down the length of the hallway and back in record time, clearly forgetting his declaration to never fly in enclosed spaces only moments before. “Just wait until you see the true power of wind!” Tulin yelled while flapping his wings and soaring up to the ceiling before landing on the ground after several impressive flips.
“No way!” Yelled Riju. “Just you wait and see what I can do.” With a few flicks of her hands, Riju sent a blinding blast of lightning to the ceiling. “See, Link?”
“How about this?” Asked Yunobo as he started a fire and began to throw the flame from hand to hand before multiplying the fire and juggling the flames. All of them stared in disbelief as Yunobo threw the fire in the air and caught it in his mouth. “Ta da!”
“Well, what do you think of this?” Asked Sidon as he pulled the water from Link’s mopping bucket into the air and spun it around to make liquid statues of all four sages, plus one of Link. Sidon returned the water to the bucket without spilling a single drop. “So, who do you think is the strongest?”
“Hmm…” Link was conflicted, each sage held great potential, but if they kept sabotaging each other, they would get nowhere. “I think all of you are very impressive, but I bet you’d be unstoppable if instead of fighting each other, you fought with each other. I wonder if maybe you could have stopped that intruder if you guys had been working together instead of against yourselves.” There was a moment of silence as the sages thought on Link’s words. Link was beginning to think he spoke out of turn; he was just a lowly servant anyway, what did his opinion matter to a bunch of sages?
“I almost hate to admit it, guys, but I think Link might be right.” Offered Yunobo.
Tulin agreed with Yunobo as soon as he said it, “Me too.”
“We certainly have some communication to work on if this is going to work properly.” Sidon elaborated.
“Thank you, Link. I think I speak for all of us when we say your opinion is valued.” Added Ruji.
With that, the sages headed back the way they came. Link turned to see the painting of the King and Princess again. He still hadn’t figured out what stuck out to him in the painting, but he was far too baffled by the sages’ response to even think straight, so he grabbed his mop and worked his way to the top floor.
Link quickly finished mopping all the rooms and was walking back to the servants' quarters when he spotted a room he hadn’t previously seen. It was tucked away at the end of a hall and was covered by a curtain.
“Good thing I didn’t miss it. Ganondorf would be so mad if I messed up on the first time he let me away from the manor.” Link entered the hidden room and looked around in wonder. It was quiet and cold. The floor was made of elegant marble with pillars leading upwards to support the ceiling. There were gold engraved patterns decorating the room, and in the center was a platform with a grand staircase leading up to it. It must have been a trick of the light, but it almost seemed that the light was focusing on the top of the platform like a holy shroud.
Link walked a little closer to the grand staircase before abruptly stopping at the sound of the sage's voices coming from the top of the steps. Link slipped behind a marble pillar and peeked out. Each sage was sitting on a step and engaging in casual conversation. It was then that Link saw what the light was shining upon.
At the top of the platform was a pedestal, and on that pedestal was a turquoise sword cemented in stone.
The master sword.
All Link’s life, Ganondorf had said that the Master Sword couldn’t defeat great evil, but was only a small blade that people placed false hope upon because they were foolish; but the apparently worthless blade's appearance sent a shiver throughout his whole body, almost like it was waiting for him.
It looked otherworldly, like it was a gift from the goddesses sent straight from the heavens. Something nagged inside Link that Ganondorf was wrong. This blade was certainly more than a fool's hope. Anybody could tell just by looking at it that the Master Sword was a powerful weapon.
The Master Sword was a powerful weapon- a weapon that would be the blade of evil’s bane. It would be the blade that struck Link down. At this realization, Link felt his heart drop to his feet and his breath shallow. The sword that sat before his very eyes would be the last thing he would ever feel before dying a death deserving of his selfish life.
Link was sure he would have begun hyperventilating and unintentionally drawing the attention of the sages to his unwarranted presence if he hadn’t heard Tulin start speaking, thus drawing Link’s attention back to the sages.
“- Well, the Rito don’t talk much about the hero. It’s been so many years that many believe it’s just a legend or a wishful thought. I don’t really know much about it, though, since I’m so young and nobody gives it much thought. I don’t know what I think about it all, but every Rito I’ve ever met believes it’s a Hylian fairytale.”
Sometime during Tulin’s speech, Link had evened out his breathing, and his heart had quit pounding for fear of the sword. He still had his back placed flat to the surface of the pillar, though, when Yunobo began speaking.
“That’s very interesting, but just because he hasn’t appeared yet doesn’t mean he won’t. The Rito may have abandoned the thought of a hero saving the day, but we Goron haven’t! Just think, even being here in the castle is hard for us with all the attention. That’s why we’re hiding here in the first place.”
Link peeked around the corner at this revelation to catch the expressions of the other sages as Yunobo gestured at the room and continued his explanation. “So, just imagine what it would be like if you were the hero. I know I wouldn’t want to be in the spotlight all the time while everyone was waiting for me to do something about impending doom. Not to mention the very real possibility that he isn’t hiding. He could be out there at this very moment fighting back against the evil, and that’s why it hasn’t struck yet.”
Riju raised an eyebrow. “The hero fighting off evil without the Master Sword, I highly doubt it.”
“It’s rumored to have been done before in the ancient Goron archives,” replied Yunobo with utmost faith in a great hero.
“Sure, that’s all fine and dandy,” Riju added, “But if there really is a hero out there, he’s no emblem of courage. He’s a weak coward, hiding from his duty like a recreant. The demise could appear at any moment. A real hero would have taken up the blade and prepared for battle like a warrior. If there is a hero, and that’s a big if, he’s in hiding; otherwise, we would have met him by now.”
Riju let out a sigh and leaned back on the railing while she let her words process. “Don’t you realize that’s why we’re here in the first place? We aren’t here to have a playdate with the princess. We are meant to help her hold back the demise since she cannot do it alone.” Sidon nodded a few times as he thoroughly thought over Riju's words.
“Regardless of the hero’s existence or non-existence, Riju brings up a good point. We must do our utmost best in training and work as hard as possible to ensure the survival of our country, our lands, our people, and our families. No matter the cost, we must be willing to dedicate ourselves, and maybe even our entire lives, to protecting Hyrule and working alongside the princess.”
After Sidon’s bold proclamation, the sages quieted down again, clearly each was reflecting upon their opinions and their duty as sages. Link was shocked. He knew who the hero was: Lord Ganondorf. It had to be him. Ganondorf had the same mark Link did, and since Link was the vengeful peasant, that meant his master was the hero. That only left one question, though. Why hadn’t Ganondorf drawn the blade and ended Link’s miserable existence as evil incarnate? His master had told him that he punished him for the mark he was born with by treating him as a lowly servant, but why hadn’t he just ended Link’s life yet? Lord Ganondorf must have known who he was from the beginning.
Almost as if triggered by his thoughts, the mark on the back of his hand began to shine with luminous light. At the same moment, the Master Sword began to illuminate, and the room was instantly filled with its blindingly radiant gleam.
Link clamped his other hand over the mark and ran from the room. If the sages' shocked faces were anything to go by, Link could see they had come to the same conclusion as him. The sword was glowing because it sensed a great evil in close proximity: Link.
Link was so hasty to exit the room before any of the sages noticed him that he ran headfirst into the hall without looking forward. Unfortunately, this led to Link running straight into the head servant, the man whom Ganondorf gave Link to at the beginning of their stay, sending the basket of fresh towels he was carrying onto the floor.
“Did you just come out of the sacred room?”
Link, still covering the back of his hand, was struck silent as worry flowed into his thoughts. Had he seen Link’s hand? Did he know that Link was harboring the great evil? Was he going to turn him over to the sages?
“There was one rule you had to follow! Don’t enter the sacred room! Don’t enter it! I had thought I had made my point crystal clear earlier.” At this point, the head servant’s yelling had drawn a crowd of servants. “Only the princess, king, and sages are allowed to enter the sacred room. Do you hear me, sacred, sacred, not meant for a peasant like yourself.”
Link, ashamed for breaking the one rule he had to follow, bent to pick up the towels that surrounded them. The least he could do was pick up the mess he had made to the best of his abilities. “No,” the head servant commanded, “Nope. You won’t be doing a single job inside the castle from here on out. I’d turn you straight back to your master if he hadn’t given such explicit instructions not to bother him on such an occasion as speaking with the king. No, you will be on garden duty for the duration of your stay.” The eavesdropping servants giggled at his punishment. Nobody liked to be stuck on garden duty. “You may start by removing the weeds, and that is final.”
Link walked away from the other servants. Where he had felt companionship only hours before was now an increased loneliness. Where he felt belonging had changed to abandonment.
Maybe Navi was right; this world was cruel. Maybe he would never be able to do anything right due to his cursed mark. The Master Sword knew he was never going to do anything right. The glow had shown Link’s true colors; he would only ever be able to destroy what good there was in the world.

It’s not a good day for the missing Hero
The first thing Hero noticed was the light. Oh the light was so bright, it practically impaled their eyes even though they were closed. They opened them, blinking rapidly.
Once adjusted to the light, Hero’s breath hitched in their throat when they found themselves in an empty room. The walls were white, the floor was white, and the somewhat comfortable bed they laid on had white blankets and sheets. It was unsettling.
The room had no windows. There was a door in the far corner and the only thing that broke the white theme had been the camera attached close to the ceiling pointed directly at them, a little red dot blinked slowly at Hero.
Hero moved to sit up, their whole body ached. They would have to ignore it temporarily, they just need to create a mirror and leave. They would be safe in a few moments-
They looked down at their wrists and their eyes widened. Metallic pieces of tech clung to their skin, stopping the flow of their abilities. They tried to create a mirror but none would show up.
Tears welled up in their eyes. “No..” They managed to whisper despite their throat feeling dry and raw. They threw the blanket off of themself in a panic. Maybe, just maybe the door would be unlocked.
They let their feet touch the cold white tile. When they stood up, bearing their full weight, they found they weren’t strong enough to hold themself up. Their legs gave out on Hero and they collapsed to the floor with a yelp, their hands barely caught them. Their head had been centimeters away from being smashed against the ground.
Their head spun to the door, they heard a loud undoing of a latch. Someone was coming in.
Hero shook their head when they saw Villain in front of them. “No.. no please.. please don’t hurt me again,” they begged. The horrible memories of Villain’s powers rushed into their mind. They remember the agony of it, them collapsing to the ground and holding themself in fetal position while they screamed. Villain grinning over them, their team leaving..
Hero snapped back to reality when they noticed Villain crouching in front of them. “Not even a hello, dear? What a shame..” they tutted. “Up with you now, back onto the bed. That was not smart of you to try and stand up, after all, you have been asleep for several days.”
Villain scooped them up, they violently flinched from the touch, but they didn’t react. They just gently laid them back on the bed. “W-what?”
“Your body reacted poorly to my abilities, it completely shut down. I’m surprised you didn’t die, that would have been a waste,” Villain said, smiling warmly at Hero. The warmth of the smile made Hero want to cower away and hide underneath the blankets like a child. Their words seemed so cruel, but yet they smiled?
“Oh..” Hero whispered. They pulled their knees to their chest, wrapping their arms around them. “Why am I here?” They asked hesitantly, they hoped they were allowed to ask that question. They already knew how painful Villain’s powers could be. Hero also wanted to switch the topic, they didn’t want to think about how they almost died.
Villain grinned. “You practically fell into my hands, how could I pass up the opportunity to have a little hero in my possession? Or a scout that made a..” they paused, as if they were searching for the right word, “costly mistake.”
Hero hugged themself tighter. It was just an accident, it was just a mistake. No accident was worth this much pain. Their team would help them out of this mess, that’s what they had to keep telling themself. Unless they already tried to help them and- “Is.. is anyone else here with me?”
Villain stood next to Hero’s bed, watching them with curiosity. “Are you asking if your team has shown up to find you?”
Hero did not answer, they just stared at their knees. Villain had been right though, that’s what they wanted to know.
Villain must have known that was Hero’s real question because they answered it honestly. It was brutally honest and the tone of their voice suggested that it brought them almost a twisted sort of joy. “There has been no trace of your team around my base. None whatsoever. You are alone Hero. No one has come to find you, they left you.”
They started to tear up again, shaking their head. “They- they didn’t leave me,” Hero stuttered. “Something must have happened..”
Villain grabbed Hero’s chin and turned their head to face them. They used their free hand to wipe away their tears. “Heroes always look so tiny when they don’t have their powers and no one coming to rescue them..” they mused.
Hero ripped their head away. “They’ll find me, I know they will,” their voice faultered a little at the end.
“Oh?” Villain questioned, their hand fell to their side. “And how do you think they’ll find you? No one has found my base, and if anyone has.. they are already dead.”
Hero sucked in a breath. Their team was strong, the same fate wouldn’t come to them. And if they couldn’t find them, they would just have to escape themself. “They’ll find me,” Hero said with conviction this time.
Villain chuckled, flashing a malicious grin at Hero. “I would love to see them try~”
Hero shivered, they hated how proud Villain sounded. More than anything Hero wanted to leave, but Villain just seemed to be toying with them about it. They glanced at the door, if Villain was in here with them, it must have been unlocked. Now, if they could get off the bed and sprint past Villain, they could find an exit and be out of there.
Screaming echoed off the walls of the white room. With a tap of Villain’s finger on their arm, their power shot throughout their body. Everything was on fire. It scorched their feet all the way to their head. Hero frantically looked around them, couldn’t even see any fire.
Hero pulled at their hair, “Make it stop! Please! It burns. I’m sorry-! It burns, it burns..” Hero rocked themself back and forth on the bed.
The agony stopped as soon as it started as Villain pulled their hand away. It left Hero gasping and coughing. They were still rocking themself, though now as more of a way to mock comfort.
“That is what will happen to your friends if they show up, Hero. I saw you contemplating trying to run, you would not have made it far in your weak state, but it was a good demonstration.” They rubbed Hero’s back, they couldn’t even pull away this time. They just got there but they already felt so weak and defeated.
“We will chat some more later about your stay in my base,” Villain added.
Sobs silently wracked through Hero’s tired form. They could only hope help found them soon. They already hated it there. They vaguely heard Villain say something else, but they couldn’t tell what it was at this point.
Villain left the room the way they came in, latching the door to lock it, leaving Hero to cry alone.

Author's note: I'm a bit rusty when it comes to writing so I tried writing a smaller section for the first part of the novel. I’m also open to critique (as long as it IS critique) as I want to become a better writer! I hope you guys enjoy this first part! Also if you guys want me to add what the in lore words mean I will!
Lost
Biting cold and abhorrently dismal.
Those were the first words that came to Abhimanyu’s mind as he took in the scenery before him. It was almost unbearable, but this realm was where traces of the future Asha-taj e D’jaterun’s magic had led them. Thus, here they would surveil.
A puff of air appeared in front of Abhimanyu’s face as he sighed deeply. Nefertari… Abhimanyu’s thoughts were made up of jumbled memories of her. Ever since her disappearance almost ten years ago, he had been searching.
Hoping.
He missed her desperately. His childhood best friend, his Asha-taj, and if he were to be honest with himself…
His first love.
D’jateri, where are you? He thought to himself as he closed his eyes. His thoughts became clearer, a memory floating to the forefront of his mind that caused a small smile to appear on his face yet slowly going away again. Smiles never stayed long on his face these days. You must come back to me soon.
Abhimanyu’s thoughts were interrupted by the sound of quickly approaching hoof steps from behind. The memory put on pause as his attention redirected to the voice beginning to speak from behind him.
“Your excellency!” He recognized the voice of one his soldiers and turned slightly to acknowledge he was listening. At this gesture, the soldier continued, “We believe we have located a strong trace signature of the magick of her Grace. It’s coming 26 clicks south-east.”
Abhimanyu’s felt his shoulders sag in relief.
Ten years…
Ten years of searching of feeling a gaping void in his being, in his soul, was finally about to come to an end. Closing his eyes, Abhimanyu’s allowed the memory that had been interrupted to come back to him.
You once asked me what my earliest memory was, Abhimanyu thought, directing his thoughts outward, hoping that if Nefertari was indeed on this dismal realm, that she’d hear him. Respond to him. Back then, I couldn’t think of an answer, but, D’jateri, if you were to ask me again, right now…
My earliest memory is of you…
Just cause I really liked this image I took it away from another one of my drawings that I took down from here. A pensive Jackieboy Man!

Grim News and Circumstances
Tw: talk of missing teammate, touch of corrupt agency, power suppressing cuffs, implied lying/manipulation
Pov switch but occurs after this post!
The mood that radiated off the trio as they traveled up the pristine elevator in the hero agency up to Supervisor’s office had easily been grim. Fighter stood silently at the corner of the elevator while Teammate watched Leader nervously. Their usually calm and sweet captain appeared as if they just might explode. They paced back and forth within the elevator like they would punch through the metal doors if it did not travel up the skyscraper any faster to the office.
Teammate also saw the evidence of their typical yellow magic sparking and swirling around their fists. They reached forward to gently grab their hand, “You do not want to-”
Leader instantly ripped their hand away, interrupting them after a deep breath. “Dear, you know I appreciate you trying to help, but absolutely do not use your abilities on me right now.”
Teammate nodded numbly, stepping back to lean against the cool steel wall next to Fighter. “They are inconsolable right now.. best not to test your luck,” Fighter muttered. They had a point, they all were dragged down by emotion. Sadness, anger, and fear for their missing teammate.
The elevator finally opened with a ding, which had been to Fighter and Teammate’s relief, Leader was a ticking time bomb in that small space. Though they could not relax for long, they had to chase after them as they sent magical blasts at anyone that blocked the path to the office. Fighter cursed as they ran after Leader, Teammate not too far behind.
“Leader!” Fighter shouted after them. “Slow the hell down! We are all fucking upset, but that will land us in the cells!”
Much of the staff had already cleared out of Leader’s way, not wanting to be subjected to their magical attacks. With no sign of calming down or considering what their friend said, Fighter groaned and stomped their foot. A small shockwave erupted under their captain’s feet, they tripped and fell with a huff. Unlike Teammate, they were willing to use their powers so they would not end up doing something stupid.
When the two finally caught up, Teammate offered their hand to help them up. Leader sighed and accepted, standing, wiping their pants even if the floor always seemed squeaky clean.
“You have to calm down. You know better than anyone that they will never listen to us if you go in fucking guns blazing,” Fighter whispered harshly to them.
Leader took a few deep breaths as they thought about their words. Their walk down to Supervisor’s office slowed and they no longer attacked the staff minding their own business. Though anxiety had been written all over their face. “I couldn’t help it, I am worried about them. They were my responsibility to keep safe. Our team sticks together and they lied and-“
Teammate gently rubbed their back. “Save it for our fucking superiors. They are the ones that need to hear this shit,” Fighter muttered.
The trio continued to make their way to the office. Leader was about to knock on the oak door when it suddenly opened, causing their eyes to widen in surprise. Instead of Supervisor standing there, it had been an officer carrying three sets of power suppressing cuffs, however a familiar honeyed voice could be heard behind the figure.
“I do hope you will not be using your powers here. You three, especially Leader, have caused quite the disruption. No matter your answer or reason, the cuffs are precautionary.”
