I’ve been writing with other people lately.

I know that used to be our thing,

but it’s not the same.

Nothing can replace the way it was

when we found our words together.

It always just felt right.

I didn’t realize just how much we connected,

just how deep our minds always found a way

to make life into poetry.

And I miss it.

I miss you.

Time passes,

and there’s not a day you don’t linger

in the corners of my day.

I think we opened a door

we may never be able to really close,

because you don’t get that close

without it leaving its marks.

I think I’ll live with this forever,

wondering if you’ll ever find your way back,

realizing we were the only two

that made sense.

I don’t think we’ll ever be seen the same way

by anyone else,

and with every connection

I always seem to find my way

right back to you.
