Cassius for the character thing?
1. How I feel about Cassius:
He is my baby cinnamon roll. My relationship with him is complicated, I went from absolutely loving him in the beginning of RR to despising him by the end of GS. At the beginning of the second book I did not hate him at all: I could understand his motives (Darrow literally killed his brother!) and even if my heart was broken for their lost friendship, I could see why he was being such a jerk.
In MS I admired his resilience, I loved when he recognized the corruption of the Society and chose to switch side. As Darrow said, he is an honorable man, but he is not as far sighted as Virginia and the other Rising Golds: he fought for the only system he knew, however he did not believe in that system as much as Roque, Octavia and Nero.
Now that he is back in the game I’m both excited and curious to see what he will eventually do.
1. My romantic OTP
Screwface: I don’t have a valid explanation, I just want our fancy howler and our fancier Knight to be a canon couple to fangirl on.
Mustang: Don’t get me wrong. I love ReaperxMustang but if somehow Darrow hadn’t married her I think Cassius would be a valid option for Virginia. Their dialogues in RR were brilliant!
3. My non-romantic OTP:
Darrow: thunder and lightning!! I want this two big boys to be besties again, their friendship is on the best parts of the first book.
Sevro: I want Cassius to officially apologize to Sevro, maybe even cry in front of him. These have never got along well: Cassius saw Sevro as Darrow’s dog and Sevro saw Cassius as a total idiot. Now they’ve grown into men, I know in the deepest recess of my heart that a solid friendship is possible.
Pax: he would be his drunk bi uncle.
Elettra: I want her to be angry as fuck with him for killing her grandpa, I want a heartbreaking confrontation were he apologizes. Eventually Elettra would forgive him and pester him all the time.
4. Unpopular opinion on Cassius:
It is out of character and unlikely, but I think Cassius would make a fantastic howler. All that chaotic energy he has inside him released is one of the most powerful weapons in the solar system.
5. One thing I wish would happen / had happened to Cassius in canon:
I wish he would have a confrontation with Lysander, about the man he chose the be. I can picture the two talking via holonet before a great battle, Lysander shaken by the encounter and Cassius conscious he would eventually have to kill the boy he brought up.
I also wish he found a sort of “new family”: all the Bellonas, apart from Julia, were slaughtered, his old house is in ruin and he has no one left to care for him. I don’t know if said found family can be the Darrow’s (meaning the core howlers, the Barcas and Telemanus) but if, let’s say, he paired up with certain good looking howler I think it would be most likely.
