Summer Reading List for aspiring science fiction and fantasy
Hooray! Summer is finally here! Most of us are out of school, but do you remember in high school when I had to read a boring book in the summer? Maybe you're still in high school and that the situation is very familiar. Well, I have a nice surprise ... reading is fun! Especially when you decide what you read. Not that all the books assigned to the school is bad ... In fact, there are many large and Catcher in the Rye. But when you get a reading list and actually try to do it, reading becomes easier and even fun. It is healthy to exercise their imagination through books and what better way than through fantasy or science fiction? The following is a list (in alphabetical order by surname of the author) of books that I think you'll enjoy: Flatland: A Romance of Many Dimensions by Edwin A. AbbottPeter Pan (Peter Pan and Wendy and Peter in Kensington Gardens) by JM BarrieFahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury A Clockwork Orange by Anthony BurgessAlice Wonderland (Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass) Lewis CarrollRedwall (series) by Peon Brian JacquesMagic, promise of Magic, and the price of Magic (series) by Mercedes LackeyThe Chronicles of Narnia (series) by CS lewisi MathesonWhat I Am Legend's Richard Richard's dreams OrwellHarry Matheson1984 by George Potter (series) JK RowlingThe Lord of the Rings (series) by JRR JRR TolkienRoverandom TolkienStrange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde Robert Louis StevensonMany of these you've heard, and possibly already read, which is great! Note that some of these books are actually the series, which means that more than one book that would be reading. The Lord of the Rings as you know, is really three books called The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and The Return of the King. Some are very old, like Jekyll and Hyde and Flatland. This is just a small list that should inspire you to read one, all or none of the books mentioned (in the hope that inspired you to create your own reading list). If you're like me, you read very slowly. Not a bad thing, because they often pick up more details, however, sometimes I'd still like to read one page per second. My advice is do not worry about being a slow reader. As you read, you can still experience the adventures of a story. It's fine if all you read is a novel this summer. You may pick up a book is as fun as Pokemon on the Nintendo DS.
