i always see these things abt writing Honey’s character and they’re like “oh stop putting cake in every sentence and making him all about sweets he’s deeper than that!!”

… and while i agree that at times he’s deeper than that… he’s usually not lol. canonically, he does mention cake in every sentence and somehow works it into everyday life lol.. like his life is actually abt cake and it’s not poor, inexperienced writing… it’s cannon lol

A/N: Today’s fic is inspired by a song that reminds me of my childhood. Honestly I could’ve picked any song from Footloose but I had to pick my favorite from that entire movie. 

You heard the sounds of Mitsukuni’s feet land onto the mat, lost in your own world as the sounds of the gym surrounded you.

There were only a few people in the gym practicing their routines, and you were the only one not moving your body and contorting it to the ways needed to achieve the perfect form. 

Instead, your mind was reeling back to when Mitsukuni made the move to make you his. 

The two of you had grown up together- childhood friends.

And he had loved you very early on, but he was always afraid to open that door and ruin the friendship you had spent so many years cultivating and creating. 

So instead he kept a tight lip on his love for you.

He supported you and your decisions, he listened to you about boyfriends and heartbreak. He would hold you as you cried and would console your feelings in a tub of ice cream and cake.

Despite the eating habits he had remained to keep his small, strong form. 

For someone so petite he was sculpted and lean with muscle. And there were times he had sworn you checked him out.

But again he kept a tight lip on his feelings. 

Then the day came where he could no longer hold back. 

You were a complete wreck, sobbing with a black eye as you told him what happened.

Mitsukuni was furious and was ready to find the man who dared to lay their finger on you in such a way, but you gripped his arm, begging him not to go. 

So instead he gently wiped your tears and held you close. He even made a fort and surrounded the two of you in a nest of pillows, blankets, and stuffed animals. 

He made you feel safe and comforted. 

Mitsukuni waited until you seemed ready to love again.

And much to his surprise you had felt the same; but the two of you were in a constant circle of fear, and never gathering the courage to say something. 

And boy were you glad to finally be dating your best friend.

Instead of nights crying into a tub of ice cream from sadness, it was replaced with tears from laughter. His gentle squeezes as he held you had formed into something of passion. He would kiss you tenderly and make you feel like you were the world to him.

You were so glad he took the leap, otherwise you weren’t sure where you would be right now. 

Mitsukuni practically could sense some of your sadness oozing out into the atmosphere as he dropped down from the high bar, feet hitting the mat as he came over to you. 

The feeling of his chalky hands cupping your face drew you back into reality, looking up into his big brown eyes as he had concern written all over his face. 

“Y/N?” 

You placed a gentle hand over his, smiling softly. “I promise I’m okay. I was just remembering how we got together. How I should’ve realized things sooner and how you were always there for me when I needed someone most.” 

He blinked, concern drifting away as he replaced the expression with a tender smile before placing a gentle kiss to your lips, “And I’ll always be here. I will never let you go.”
