Daiquiris in the Forest Service (?) Forest Service Region 8 Engineer Cleve Ketcham had a great sense of humor, and in 1974, he drew this cocktail construction chart. Thankfully, someone deemed this great record "permanently valuable" and it's a staff favorite!

Daiquiris in the White House! First Lady Bess Truman often served daiquiris at many White House luncheons, served alongside delicacies such as "pickled pears" and "perfection salad ring"!

Daiquiris and the Spanish-American War! This tasty cocktail is named for the small Cuban village of Daiquiri, 14 miles east of Santiago. In 1898, Teddy Roosevelt, his Rough Riders and 6,000 other U.S. troops landed at Playa Daiquiri –Daiquiri Beach – kickstarting the Spanish-American War in hopes of helping Cuba win its independence from Spain. The cocktail was supposedly invented that year in a Santiago bar by a group of American mining engineers, using plentiful sugar, lime and Bacardi rum!
