saw this on twitter and related so much to it. now that people of #mixedraceheritage are talking more about identity especially on social media, ive learned that just like we're mixed with different races/ethnicities, there are also different types of #mixedidentities! ive learned some #identify as: • mixed: i'm more than one race, im not just one thing. i'm a fusion. im not just this. im not just that or this and that. im all wrapped up in one beautiful package. i'm mixed and proud of it! * one or the other: some #mixedracepeople were only exposed to one side, relate to one side, raised by one side. though it's in my blood, i can't relate or identify as the other race(s) i am and that's ok! if that's YOUR choice, again don't let anyone force you to choose one side or the side they prefer to make them feel comfortable!! • mixed and: i'm proudly mixed/biracial/multiracial AND i'm 100% of everything i'm mixed with too. blood quantum does not define me. if i'm mixed with black and asian for example, i'm every much as black and asian as i am mixed. i am a black woman. i am an asian woman. i am a mixed woman. i wouldn't be mixed without those two things and im proud of all that i am!! • half/part: i am half this and half that. i am part this and part that. i know blood can't be split in parts; i'm a combination of both my parents. im half my mom, half my dad. i don't feel comfortable saying i'm full anything. i feel that takes away from the ones who actually are. im proud to be more than one thing! • whatever you choose, you're valid! some say all of this in different ways and languages: #hapa #blasian #eurasian #metis #metisse #transracial, some parts of the world still say #mulatto this is a controversial take to some, especially monoracials bc they're not us. they don't understand and some don't want to. iykyk. what are your thoughts? do you agree? disagree? is there a mixed identity that isn't mentioned? what do you think of the article? let's discuss but let's be respectful of each other. 💙🤍 #mixedgirlproblems https://www.instagram.com/p/CbLd3CguqA7/?utm_medium=tumblr

so i've been meaning to post this for a minute but kept forgetting. what do you all think about these patterns of identity? anything need to be improved? added? now this isn't about division, it's actually about being inclusive of all people who are mixed race. not all of us are just biracial. some of us have one mixed parent. some have two (like myself). which leads to many varieties of experiences. at the end of the day, we are all more than one thing, so why are we all forced to identify just ONE way? i do like the fact that monoracial identifying mixed people are represented here. again, everyone chooses their own identity and some may not have been exposed to both/all sides of themselves, no fault of their own. barack obama is a prime example too, he knows he's mixed race and celebrates it. society, though, sees him as black and treats him as such. now that im older and understand more about the mixed experience and still learning every day (with all my followers help), i identify as a multiple monoracial according to this. yes im a mixed woman. im also a black woman. im also an indigenous woman. both my mom and dad are mixed with irish. my dad also has a significant amount that's british, which also makes me white. i gotta admit im still processing that last part because of recent discoveries within my family tree. remember, we only choose our own identities, no one else. all of these mixed experiences and identities are valid. please be nice in the comments and please tag source! ❤️🧡💖 #mixedgirlproblems #mixed #mixedrace #beingmixed #mixedidentities #mixedpeople https://www.instagram.com/p/CpNypvOuYVb/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
