Easter special: a slight remake of a drawing I did a while ago

Escapes from home

No matter how far or how long Yato has run away from home, he always comes back in the end.

He summons Hiki and kills whoever their father has chosen.

"I didn't want to stop killing," Yato tells Yukine, not looking at him, but instead fixing his eyes on Hiyori's shrine. He sits on the window, as far outside the room as possible.

In that moment, he confesses to things that are deeply personal to him and of which he is deeply ashamed.

Yato, the god of calamity, does not kill for his own pleasure, but for the faith it brings him. And without faith, no god survives.

That is why he carries out his father's orders and collects crumbs of prayers from those whose wishes for revenge he fulfills.

It is not that he does not try to break free from that nightmare, but he never has enough strength or determination, and if he goes too far, his sister calls a pack of wolves, and they bring the rebellious god back to his senses.

And so Yato remains chained to his father.

Until the moment he wakes up in Bishamon's mansion and realizes that everything he endured in Yomi was completely useless.

He looks at the boy Ebisu and realizes that he has done nothing and saved no one.

And at that moment something breaks.

That evening, Yato calls Hiki for the last time, but not to kill with her blade, but to recite the ancient formula and free her from the name he gave her.

From that moment on, Yato the god of calamity no longer exists. He can no longer be fed by the faith of those who yearn for him to kill for them. There is only Yato, the god who dares to hope that his guide will chart a new path for him

and that the human girl has enough faith to give him the strength to walk that path.

Considering he's a water hashira it's a given that he has to be a water dragon (also known as Wani or Mizuchi) so like the previous fantasy au with the hantengu bois had to do a noodle version for Giyuu! (Also note I realize the rope on his horns are wrong in the dragon state - had to flip it to fit the layout orz)

SHINOBU | TENGEN | OBANAI | KYOJURO | MITSURI | SANEMI | GYOMEI | MUICHIRO | SEKIDO & KARAKU He's still in the works as he was relatively just introduced so still ironing out his character, but pretty much a tl;dr:

-He was orphaned at a young age due to a freak accident and his sister had died, so he was left alone. Urokodaki (a tengu) found him and took him under his wing to raise him along with two orphaned foxes (Sabito and Mokomo).

-Despite mizuchi's regarded nature of being aggressive Giyuu is usually anything but that. He's mellow, nothing really phases him and after awhile can be friendly. Curious, but he's quiet and just watches and observes

-Currently resides in one of the few villages that are fine with spirits/demons and in return for allowing to live there he gathers up fish for the villagers for food/sale. The village likes Urokodaki so they were honored to have someone related to him inhabit their town.

-Commonly seen at various restaurants or stalls eating. Salmon and soba are his favorite, and while he tries his best, his tail often causes a tripping hazard due to the sheer length of it.

-The group (Obi + co) stumbled across him during one of their stays in the village and he wanted to tag along to see what was further north.

-Has had previous run-ins with Shinobu and Kyojuro/Tengen, the others are new. Sanemi interests him but the wolf-demon doesn't enjoy his company.
