I’m finished with this and I’m very happy about how it turned out because I’ve wanted to draw the Hart family for a long time. Of course, Michelle has her own extended family with a son (she’s widowed), but she typically rides pretty solo back in California.
I’m going to erase the other WIP posts I have on this but thank you all for the kind comments throughout my time working on this!

More about the Hart Family. Under Read More just in case I write a lot.
The Hart family was primarily created for the Dulcedomum universe (minus Anastasia who’s origins started off as a zombie baker).
Some of the major “themes” (I don’t think that most of these are traditional “themes” but I can’t figure out the correct word just yet) with the family includes:
- Legacy: The continuance of legacy through becoming wizards or guardians. In the future, Anastasia and Thomas forming a pact with a guardian (with who, I don’t know) also will contribute to legacy.
-Mortality; Along with Clay’s near death experience, Michelle’s deliberate choice not to make a pact with a spirit or guardian, which means that her parents and siblings will outlive her.
- Family: They are a very tight-knit group, but they also adopt their spirits and patrons into their family. I think everyone has their own sort of differing relationships with spirits and patrons whether it’s as close as family to a partnership (sort of like a business partnership).
In Anastasia’s case, sometimes this view might cause her to infantalize Aileen - how does this relationship grow as they continue their training? It grows. Maybe someday I’ll draw their discussion about it.
-Survival: Realized through Clay’s near death experience, but also through Anastasia’s training and learning how to work with Aileen.
I’ve had such a fun time thinking about the Harts and playing with them in the Dulcedomum universe. ... I guess that’s all I have to write.
So I was able to (kinda) save some of the sketches I worked on last week! Last week (and this week) I really wanted to draw some couple pictures.
This was one of them so I put down some colors and decided to do it all in lineless. It was a fun revisit to lineless. I also kinda wanted to color something drenched in vibrant colors.
Francis is mine and Diana belongs to the wonderful Deni.
