i used to go HAMMM making my own so i get feeling protective over them 🥺 i was so obsessed w character and world building which is why i wanna get back into writing fantasy sooo bad its my niche and i also get not wanting to post sth precious for fear of it not doing well cuz that’s me with a big super secret project rn that’s been my baby for over a year 😵‍💫 don’t tell anyone shhh

Her hands, soft, cold, and manicured to almost perfection, latch onto his wrist when he reached for the hem of her skirt.

Soft skin meets calloused hands as Sodapop pulls upwards, just until they are palm to palm. “I’m not touching you, you’re touching me, if anything.”

I tore off my gloves as I crossed the corral, watching the red dirt swirl at my feet in the summer wind. He sat on the bleachers, watching as I competed, but Sodapop stood just beyond the fence smiling and calling my name.

“You n’ Dolly just won,” he says, “I’m sure of it.”

I take a desperate sip of water, dropping my gloves on the grass behind the corral when I toss my free arm over it. I can barely hear what Soda says at first, my mind still reeling with adrenaline and excitement. Winning would mean a few free rounds at Buck’s tonight. “C’mon, Syl, lemme see your hand.”

When I’m too slow to respond, the boy grabs my wrist until our rough palms are pressed together. Then, as his eyebrows furrow and his lips form one fine line, his fingers curl around mine. “Just what I was thinking… We fit together just right.”
