+ He's actually got some native blood in him, but he's never cared enough to actually find out which tribe his mother's mother was from
+ His parents both died when he was very young, even younger than Darry, and he inherited their property which would become his roadhouse and his stables
+ Buck was always obsessed with horses, even as a kid, he probably knows a million horse facts
+ Buck was almost in the army, but an injury to his leg in a riding accident made him ineligible
+ That same accident is the reason Buck doesn't ride in his own rodeos and instead employs jockeys
+ He cycled through tens of jockeys before Dallas started for him and is now really his only consistent one
+ Buck's father was extremely abusive to both him and his mother, but Buck's opinion on it is just "everyone's dad was drunk and mean"
+ He's the biggest hypocrite ever when it comes to that, he gets furious whenever he thinks about the things Dallas has been through, but his own trauma is just whatever
+ Honestly, Buck didn't even put any thought into trauma or mental health before meeting Dallas, and he only started to learn because he wanted to help the kid
+ His most prized possession, his silver shotgun, is a hand-me-down from his grandfather on his dad's side
+ Buck is queer. He's never put much thought into his sexuality, and he's 100% the type who thinks all the new labels are stupid, but he's been known to take both men and women
+ That's why he's so casual about Dally's own queerness, and he kind of provides that safe space for him
+ Buck has never been in love, and it's something he has very complicated feelings about. On one hand, he's okay with his solitary life. He doesn't want a wife or kids tying him down. But, on the other hand, his name is probably going to die with him, and he feels like a failed a little as a man.
+ In a lot of ways, Dallas was his first love—although Buck will not admit that's his kid. He was so used to not caring about people much that when he realized he was attached to Dallas, he was absolutely terrified.
+ Buck believes that, deep down in his core, he's not a good person. He isn't gentle, he isn't kind, he's not loving. But the other thing about Buck is, if someone he cares about needs him to, he will go through the labor of teaching himself how to be gentle.
