the painters thrill
I love the mixing of paints, I just get a real kick out of that....I feel my blood pumping and my spirit stirring in its pot. I get endless curiosity from this, I go deep. I get lost...
The creation of ideas and visions inspires me and the thrill of enthusiasm boils over where I get overwhelmed in a good way by a myriad of ideas, some complex, some hauntingly and satisfyingly simple. The subtle plays of light illuminating my soul.
It`s the doing that is rewarding. Smell of the paints, the paper, the sound of pencils releasing their pigments in swift gentle caressing strokes. The articulation of the palette knife dancing through a maze of paint revealing its hidden combinations. Finding those constant surprises and instant revelations that jolt you with excitement. and with each laboured part, a residual growing enlightenment. A deeper understanding and appreciation of the craft, a drawing closer between you and it. A compassion and fondness in bonding. And a thankfulness for what you just experienced. “I was intimidated by you at first, and frustrated with your limits, but now I understand you better, your secrets revealed in action, a beauty you have entirely your own”.
The simple things of life bring me the deepest joys; a friends smiling eyes, the privilege of a daydream, the breeze caressing leaves through spring trees running across my face, the sun dancing silently across mountainscapes in its sinking brilliance, the melting and flow of clouds up in deep space, the taste of salt water waves washing over you with powerful brilliance infusing you with an energy electric.
A reverent wonder at the intelligence that drives it all in this creative fractal quantum soup of life. A constant desire to know how things came to be, what came before, and the beauty of how they work.
It`s the themes of nature and wildlife in their organic beauty effused with our human experience that drive my work and story. Some simple, some more complex, its this kind of work that I find a satisfying curious exploration and thrill in sharing.
