Happy Anniversary Jemily Fans!
Today (May 15, 2017) is the five year anniversary of [Take My Hand and Show Me the Way] by @mjduncan This fic is timeless and is still one of the best Jemily fics I’ve ever read. Like many, it was the first Jemily fic I discovered and it brought me into this shipdom. No matter how many years have passed, I still get asks with “What’s that one fic where...” and 90% of the time it’s this one. If you haven’t read it, I encourage you to do so! And if you love MJ and want to support her work, check out [her books on Amazon]!!
The scene from your fics that pops to mind first for me is the one where Steve is “calibrating” Emma Swan’s lie detector in POLYGRAPH.
Thank you for playing! That was a fun scene to write and, incidentally, was one of the first scenes I ever came up with for that fic. Once I had the idea of writing a crossover for my two OTPs, one thing that came to me pretty quickly was the thought of letting the two human lie detectors “clash” over two different sets of unbelievable things (Emma’s conflict between seeing Pongo’s “eye witness statement and her belief in Regina, and Steve’s and the other warehouse agents’ sudden drop into a world where fairytales are real. The scene as such worked out a little differently than originally pictured in my mind but I knew Steve’s dry comments would be a good counterpoint to Emma’s bewilderment. :)
Thanks for making me remember that scene and the fun I had writing it!
