* When you finally open up to both of them about your insecurities, Ashrah is slow to understand. But she knows you're suffering, and will do anything to ensure nothing less than your happiness.

* On the other hand, Syzoth understands right away. He offers up words of affirmation, reassuring you just how much they love you.

* "You are perfection my sweet. If only you could see yourself the way Ashrah and I see you ...". But he knew too much about what it was like, and that you needed more than just words. Unfortunately, he too was stuck in the same bottomless hell pit that was insecurity, just as you were.

* He takes it upon himself to explain to Ashrah just how debilitating living with such thoughts can be. Hoping she would understand and help him find a way to make their lover feel comfortable in their own body. Although he tries to hide his own insecurities, Ashrah connects the dots and sees right through him.

* Ashrah sees your and Syzoth's insecurities as sins that need to be eradicated. This leads her down a rabbit hole of studying the mortal condition and human psychology.

* Some time later, she sits the three of you down on your shared bed. Laid out on the mattress were various arts and craft tools. You and Syzoth stare curiously at the assortment of colourful strings, ribbon and paper.

* "What is all this about?" You ask, fiddling with a pair of scissors.

* "Therapy." Ashrah responded bluntly. "You both need a distraction from those terrible thoughts eating away at your conscious. I will not allow such rare beauty to tear itself down. Liu Kang did not create this timeline for the both of you to spend it hating the body he so graciously gifted you." Ashrah is stern, clearly serious about making the both of you feel better.

* Only the tiniest bit intimidated, you and Syzoth nod a long at each and every one of her orders.

* After an hour of crafting, chatting and enjoying each other's company (as well as avoiding disappointing Ashrah with your self deprecation), the three of you end up with your own handcrafted personalised journals.

* Ashrah reaches for the both of you. Holding hands, she maintains her strict yet loving tone: "Use these journals the moment those wicked thoughts return. Write them down, be in touch with your true self. Do not isolate yourselves. Acknowledge your emotions and try to work through them using these journals. And know, that no matter what, we will always have each other."

* From then on, you all worked through your feelings together, offering up a listening ear and uplifting each other whenever possible. Your insecurities never truly went away, but they were quiet and less frequent now, allowing you to focus on what-- or rather who- was more important to you ... your lovers.

SHANG TSUNG HCs

I once again can’t stop thinking about MK1 Shang Tsung and his personal life and relationships /struggles / past / so have these rambles, keep im mind that most of these are HCs we came up with for our AU but I think they might generally apply as I just love them so much.

• To most of his allies Shang Tsung is respectable and influential enough to be a collaborator but too alienating and too much of a pathological liar to be a friend or even a partner as soon as they find out what experiments he conducts. This frustrates Shang Tsung because he desperately longs to experience the feeling of being admired. It’s kind of twisted though, because he is entirely unwilling to change his ways even towards other evil-spirited figures and still hopes that someone will love him for what he does as there’s a sense of “look at my power and my deceptive nature and how I simply do not care, isn’t that an attractive quality in and of itself?” He almost expects people to want him for it but it doesn’t occur in his mind that no matter if good or evil people consider working with him his ways will always make him untrustworthy.

• think when he was younger he tried to make genuine connections but usually ended up being discarded or he severed said connections himself because of his deceptive nature - so it never really got anywhere and eventually he turned spiteful without acknowledging that he was often the issue rather than others. It definitely got chaotic and he probably didn’t shy away from manipulating people into desiring him but deep inside he always knew that fake love and fake bonds wouldn’t bring him the satisfaction that he desires. It was always just a means to survival in the end so loyalty of any sort towards him was always forced rather than earned. He so badly wants to mean something to someone but in the end his actions drive everyone away and closer bonds are hardly ever considered. It’s basically an endless cycle he cannot seem to get out of.

• He does not mind having few friends especially due to a past of mutual backstabbings and untrustworthy alliances but he clearly does mind not having admirers as there is a sense of envy over Liu Kang’s power and the admiration he deserves because of his modesty. He was visibly taken aback after finding out that somewhere in other timelines there were versions of him who had actual influence and he asks himself why he was the one deemed “lesser” than his doppelgangers.

• Convincing Bi-Han, the literal grandmaster of the Lin Kuei, probably felt like one of the biggest successes to date for him. He was able to successfully use his schemes to tempt a powerful man into betraying his own family and join forces and it would only make his god complex grow. However he is probably a man who is hardly satisfied whatsoever so the fact that Kuai Liang and Smoke did NOT join would frustrate him to no end - especially because these fighters genuinely appeal to him and he had hoped for things to develop which might seem like a completely delusional desire to outsiders - again this comes from the deep underlying despair of wanting to be noticed and acknowledged but no one ever engages in such a way. He often seeks more in alliances than his partners and therefore he never quite feels fulfilled.

liu kang would be conflicted in my opinion, its a new world.. a new era and he is a god compare to you being in his earth realm defense, but nonetheless it did not wary the feelings he had for you.

what was the traits that he favored from you? well, you did easily best kung lao in one of his bets! (lowkey so did the rest favored you cause it shut up kung lao for a bit!)

but mainly, you were ambitious for earth realm's victory when titan!shang tsung had declared war on this timeline.

you had confidence in him despite being told your past lives in different timelines from geras, he had asked why and was met with a answer that tugged at heart in the most blossoming way. "the fates will always find a way and i'm most thankful for this one as i get to be by your side."

you would laugh at his jokes even though no one else would get them, (you didn't really find his jokes humorous but you adored enough him enough to put up with it.) he still appreciated it, even if it was the smallest thing from you

in trainings, missions and in other assortments.. being diligent was your main priority. making sure you and your comrades made it back all in one piece, sometimes plans weren't always followed through but you were clever enough to have a backup plan to ensure success.

liu kang would dote on you when both of you are alone, he'll compliment the way you did your hair, how your voice sounded when you sung (lets pretend you know how to sing LOL) this man was down bad i tell ya!!

at madam bo's everything you ate/drink was paid by him, he even would ask madam bo to make you off menu dinings

this made everyone jealous because you were receiving royal treatment on which you would tease them for when his back was turned

YES liu kang would be that type of person to take care of you even if you show the rarest signs of sickness!

but how did he meet you in this new era? you were trained in combat, martial arts and amongst other things which made you the second best behind raiden to being earth realms champion

although not being chosen not to represent in the tournament, you exceeded his expectations and was humbled enough to not let your pride get the best of you.

to end this, liu kang was in love with you simply because you believed in his vision and strength all those eras ago. you were you, you were his.. in every lifetime.

want to slow dance as much every time you're alone. the princess rarely ever gets time to herself so whenever there just enough downtime in between events or once she learns the patterns of her guards to know exactly when they wouldn't be around a specific area, she extends her hand with a smile

not need as much reassurance, but cherishes it nonetheless. whether if it's about how much you love her or how her status has nothing to do with the way you feel, it could almost bring a tear to her eye. it's not like she doubted it, not even for a second, but just to hear it makes her heart flutter and earns you an extra kiss or two before she has to go again.

take a walk on the beach while holding hands. nothing beats watching the sunset in Outworld. color mixing like no one has ever seen. clouds forming in shapes you didn't think possible. "beautiful" just wasn't a fitting enough word and she still never let go. she'd even stop to just stare, eyes gleaming like it's her first time seeing it all over again. yet the icing on top was that she got to share it with the love of her life.

cook for her lover. she doesn't really get the opportunity to cook because she has devoted servants to do literally anything she asks. so as she's been learning to cook on the side, she uses her free time to go over your house and show you what she's learned. bonus points if she has a chef that'll teach her in private just so she can impress you.
