Ladybug Balloons
A Very Ladybug Christmas
Marinette quickly ran to open the window to her balcony when she heard Chat Noir tapping on it. She hadn’t been able to see Adrien all day, his father had scheduled a photoshoot on Christmas. Honestly, sometimes Marinette thought Gabriel Agreste was worse than Hawkmoth. “Chaton, you made it. How was the photoshoot?”
Chat leaned into the window and pecked Marinette on the lips. “Horrible, but that was expected. My day is already better because I get to see you, Bugaboo.” Marinette giggled, trying to pull Chat in through the window. “Not yet, I have your Christmas present. Go sit on the chaise and close your eyes.”
“So dramatic.” Marinette rolled her eyes but still smiling, climbed down the ladder into her room. She chuckled to herself as she heard Chat struggling with something through the window. It sounded like a bunch of balloons squeaking together. Marinette had no idea what he could possibly be bringing through the window that would make such a noise.
“Plagg, claws in.” A few moments later, Marinette heard Adrien stop in front of her. “Okay, My Lady, you can open your eyes.”
Marinette opened her eyes and looked up to see that the loud squeaking sound actually had been balloons. Adrien held a bundle of strings in his right hand, at the end were Ladybug balloons. Not balloons that looked like ladybug bugs. No, these horrid monstrosities were caricatures of Marinette’s alter-ego. Adrien burst out laughing when he saw the horror on Marinette’s face.
“Adrien, where the hell did you find those?” Marinette looked at her boyfriend blankly.
In between wheezing laugher, Adrien was able to get one word out. “Internet.”
Marinette chuckled. “Of course you did. You always find the more obscure Ladybug merch. Those might just be the most terrifying thing you’ve ever found though.”
At this point Adrien had let go of the balloons, letting them float to Marinette’s ceiling. He sat on the floor in front of Marinette cackling. Hands gently cupped his face, thumbs gently whipping away tears that had slipped out from him laughing so hard. “You’re so silly. I love you, my adorable dork.” Marinette gave him a slow kiss, instantly sobering him.
“I love you too, my beautiful princess. That wasn’t your present though.” Marinette’s brows furrowed. Reaching into his pocket, Adrien pulled out a long jewelry box. “This is your real present.”
“Adrien, I said nothing too expensive.” Gently grabbing her hand, he placed a kiss on her knuckles before turning her hand over and placing the box on her palm.
“Only the best for my princess.” A dusting of pink colored Marinette’s cheeks.
Marinette let out a small gasp when she opened the velvet box. Inside was a silver charm bracelet with a cat paw charm and a ladybug charm. “Oh, Adrien, it’s beautiful. I love it. Help me put it on?” Adrien attached the bracelet to Marinette’s wrist, smiling at the way she looked at it in adoration.
Shooting up, Marinette ran over to her desk. “Now it’s time for you to open yours!”
“Mari, you know your love and affection is all the present I need.” Walking back over with a package wrapped in red wrapping paper with black polka dots, Marinette glared.
“Hey, if you get to spoil me, I get to at least give you the present I made you.” Adrien’s eyes lit up.
“You made me something?” A darker blush deepened Marinette’s cheeks, nodding as she handed him the gift. He immediately tore into it. On the top was a blue beanie that matched the scarf she’d made him for his birthday a few years back. Below that was a new set in a green yarn. Pulling out the green scarf, Adrien noticed she’d matched the color that his sclera turned as Chat perfectly. He would have stared at the beautiful craftsmanship of the scarf forever if the matching green hat hadn’t caught his eye. The hat had two holes in the top, perfect for his ears as Chat Noir.
Marinette was nervously twisting her hands in her lap. “I know it’s not much, but I wanted to complete the blue set. Then I thought about how cold you were on patrol last winter and, so I thought Chat Noir could use a scarf and hat set too. I mean if you don’t…” Marinette was cut off when Adrien pressed his lips against hers.
“I love them, thank you. You’re the best girlfriend ever.” Marinette kissed him again.
When they parted Marinette pointed to her loft. “Okay, movie and cuddles time. You go get the blankets and pillows and I’ll get the hot chocolate.” Adrien pulled the blue hat over his head, gave Marinette one more peck on the lips, then bounded up her ladder in search of only the comfiest pillows and blankets.
When Marinette arrived back in her room, she found her boyfriend snuggled up with one of the Ladybug balloons. He was obviously trying, and failing, to hold in his laughter based on more and more giggles leaking out of his mouth as she got closer. “Oh, that’s fine, I’ll just go cuddle with my Chat Noir plush.” Adrien immediately opened his arms, letting the balloon float back up to the ceiling with the others, and leaving room for Marinette to snuggle in.

Gabriel Agreste Shouldn’t Design Shoes
Marinette walked in the door on the second day of school to see a boy bent over her seat. “Hey! What are you…” She trailed off as she noticed his shoes. “…wearing?” As she examined the shoes, Marinette completely forgot about what the blond boy had been doing.
“Oh, hi, I’m Adrien. Chloe put a piece of gum on your seat and I was removing it, so no one sat on it.” Marinette waved her hand dismissively at his words.
“Chloe being mean? What else is new. Now, you poor boy, who put you in those shoes?” Adrien stood up and turned toward Marinette, giving her a full view of the atrocious shoes on his feet. They were black high tops, which would have been fine if they didn’t have rainbow butterfly wings sprouting from the bright pink laces and rhinestones on the toe. “Are they supposed to be for kids?”
Adrien flushed, rubbing at the back of his neck self-consciously. “Um no, actually, my father has been dabbling in shoe design. He thought teens and adults don’t have enough “fun” shoes.” He took a step towards Marinette, making her gasp.
“They light up.” The words came out in whispered horror. Marinette cleared her throat, raising her voice back to normal. “Well, we are going to save your poor, poor feet and you can borrow a pair of men’s shoes I’ve been working on. My house is right across the street, we still have a little time before class.” Marinette reached out and grasped Adrien’s wrist, pulling him behind her.
She paused right before exiting the classroom, causing Adrien to run into her back. Marinette spun around. “I’m so sorry. Do you want to borrow a pair of shoes, or do you like those?”
Adrien smiled at the kind girl in front of him. “Mon Dieu, these are the most atrocious things I’ve ever worn, please let me borrow those shoes.”
“Of course!” Marinette beamed, and Adrien had to remind himself to breath for a moment because, wow, she was beautiful.

But Wait, There’s More!
“Alright Marinette, take 15 and we’ll pick back up with the actual product. Very good job so far.” The director of the informercial smiled at Marinette, giving her a thumbs up.
“Thank you.” Marinette rushed over to Alya, who was standing near the refreshments table. “Alya, this was such an amazing idea!”
“I told you. Who would be better at messing things up more for an informercial than the clumsiest girl I know?” Marinette gasped in mock offense. “Oh, come on, you know I’m right. You have a future in making tupperware fall out of cupboards if your fashion career doesn’t work out.”
“I’d love to be able to disagree but, you’re right.” Marinette laughed. “Hey, if I get my name out there in the informercial scene, it might pay for the fabric for my online store.”
“See it’s perfect!” A few minutes of chatting later, the director called Marinette back to the set. “Go kill it Marinette, you got this.”
“Thanks, Alya.” After a quick hug with her bestie, Marinette marched back over to the set with a determined look on her face.
-o-o-o-o-o-
Nino called moments after Marinette walked back over to continue shooting and Alya stepped out to take the call. When the call ended and Alya walked back in to watch the rest of Marinette’s take, the bluenette was on fire.
No, she was literally on fire. Marinette was shrieking as she wacked the arm of her jacket with a dish towel. An assistant rushed over with a bucket of water, drenching Marinette. The director walked over to Marinette after she’d been put out and gently pulled her aside.
Marinette walked over to Alya, not nearly as chipper as when she’d started. “I got fired.”
“Because this is a serious situation, I won’t make a joke about you literally being on fire and getting fired. What happened? I was only gone for like, two seconds. Wait a minute, there wasn’t even any fire on set?” The two girls began to walk out of the building as Marinette told her tale.
“Well, they had me start using the product being sold when we restarted. I dropped it in the first take, I broke one in the second take, and well, you saw how the third take went. Who knew spontaneous combustion was actually a thing that could happened.” Alya doubled over in laughter, only able to make it to a bench on the sidewalk before she completely collapsed. Marinette burst into laughter, falling onto the bench next to her best friend.
Finally able to compose themselves a few minutes later, Marinette continued. “It’s not the end of the world though. He said they will still use my ‘destroy everything’ takes because they were the best out of everyone’s and that they’ll probably call me back to do more ‘before’ takes like that.”
Alya shook her head, chuckling. “Only you would look on the bright side of getting fired because you actually caught yourself on fire.”
Marinette bounced up from the bench, pulling Alya up with her. “What can I say, I’m an optimist. Now, let’s go to the fabric store because this charred bit of sleeve has me inspired.”
Alya fell into laughter again as she let Marinette pull her down the sidewalk.

Just Go For It
“Marinette, my dearest friend, light of my life, the only girl who has ever seen my penis, I need your help.” Kim suck out his bottom lip and clasped his hands together in a pleading motion as he stood in front of Marinette’s desk after class.
Poking his bottom lip, Marinette laughed. “Just because I’m the only girl who ever will see you’re your penis, doesn’t mean you have to bring it up all the time, don’t make it gross. We were four and covered in powdered sugar, which you spilled all over us mind you. Of course, we needed to take a bath.” Kim got down on his knees and pushed his lips out farther. “Mon Dieu, get off the floor Kim, you know I’ll help you.”
Kim beamed, getting up and slinging an arm around his petite friend. “See Marinette, this is why you’re my best friend.”
Marinette’s voice was deadpan as she looked at Kim unimpressed. “Mhhhmmm, and what about Max? I thought he replaced me as your best friend a long time ago?” Marinette quirked a brow as red bloomed across Kim’s cheeks.
“Well, um, about that. I don’t want him to be my best friend. I want him to be my boyfriend.” Marinette hopped slightly, squealing in delight. Kim’s blush deepened. “I wanted your help with how to ask him out, and I’m also kind of nervous about what would happen if he rejected me. We’ve both discussed sexuality before and I know he’s bi, but just because he’s into guys doesn’t mean he’s into me. What if he just likes me as a friend? I mean, I’m okay with just being friends if he doesn’t want to have a romantic relationship with me, but if that’s the case, I don’t want this to change our entire friendship.”
Marinette rubbed Kim’s back in a gentle circular motion, trying to calm the boy who was working himself into a frenzy. “Hey, you don’t see the way Max looks at you. He gives you even dopier looks then I would give Adrien before we were together.”
Kim snorted. “Is that even possible?” Seeming to ponder for a moment, Kim snapped his fingers in a faux ‘ah ha’ moment. “It is possible since Adrien gives you even dopier looks now that you are together. I honestly don’t think anyone could top the looks he gives you.”
Laughing, Marinette lightly punched Kim in the arm. “Hey, he’s a romantic, it’s adorable. You’re right though, no one can top a signature Adrien Agreste love struck look, but Max is a close second.”
Remembering that this conversation was actually about his own future relationship, Kim frowned. “I’m just scared. How did you and Adrien finally admit your feelings for each other? I don’t think you ever told me.”
Marinette hesitated. “Um, well, let’s just say that was a day full of revealing important information.” Kim’s brows drew together in question, but before he could ask anything further, Marinette continued. “Ours was a unique situation, but we’re talking about you and Max here. Everyone knows you’ll get together eventually.”
“Really?” Kim looked at Marinette in shock. “Are we the only ones?”
Marinette waved a hand flippantly in the air. “Now you are. Everyone else has already gotten together; Adrien and I, Nino and Alya, Rose and Juleka, Chloe and Nath. I was honestly shocked that Chloe and Nathanael got together before you and Max.”
Kim sputtered. “Wow, I didn’t even know.”
“Trust me Kim, everything is going to work out. Max likes you. Just go for it.” Marinette placed a hand on Kim’s shoulder in reassurance as a determined look settled over Kim’s face.
Years down the road, Marinette would give her Best Woman speech at Kim and Max’s wedding, letting everyone know how nervous Kim had been to ask his now husband out, much to Kim’s mortification.

BUG OUT!
When Alya asked Marinette to meet her an hour before class started in their classroom, she did everything in her power to achieve that. She set twenty alarms, put her phone down in her room, and told Tikki to pour a glass of water on her if neither of those things worked. After a very wet wakeup call and a giggling Tikki, Marinette was walking through the hall of her school. She couldn’t remember the last time she’d seen the school before the late bell for class had rung.
Marinette was so lost in awe of herself for actually waking up, that it took the slamming of the classroom door behind her to jolt her out of it. Spinning around, Marinette saw Kim with his arms crossed in front of the closed door. “Kim?”
Kim nodded to someone behind Marinette and she turned to see the rest of her class standing in a semi-circle. Alya stepped forward from the middle. “Hey Marinette, glad you could meet me this morning. Or, shall I say, meet us. As Alya gestured to the rest of the group, Marinette saw a range of emotions on their faces. Juleka and Rose looked like they were holding back excitement. Max looked like he was trying to calculate something that involved her. Chole was staring at her slack jawed. Chloe’s slightly awed expression would have been the most surprising of the bunch if it weren’t for Adrien, who was looking at Marinette like he was in love with her.
Marinette’s eyes flew back to her best friend, confusion evident on the bluenette’s face. “Alya, what’s going on?”
“Well bestie, a few of us were talking about Paris’s favorite superheroes the other day and we realized, you and Ladybug have never been seen together.” Alya smirked as Marinette’s eyes blew wide.
Marinette took a calming breath, her and Tikki had prepared for this if it had ever happened. Now she just had to sell it. Cocking a hip, Marinette chuckled and rolled her eyes. “Come on Alya, this was all for nothing. Remember when Alix got akumatized? Ladybug and I were both there at the same time.” When Alya deflated slightly, Marinette felt a little bad, but she had to protect her secret identity.
“But after the second Ladybug appeared, you weren’t there anymore?” Marinette’s head shot to Adrien who sighed wistfully. “Two Ladybugs, two Marinettes, what a dream.” All the classmates looked at Adrien in shock, a deep blush spreading over his face as soon as he realized he’d said that last part out loud.
The reporting hunger reignited in Alya’s eyes. “Adrien’s odd outburst aside, he is right. There were two Ladybugs but no Marinettes. Or rather, as Sunshine said, two Marinettes.”
Marinette knew there was only one way out of this. Opening her bag, she reached in for a small object. Marinette proceeded to smash said small object directly into the ground with the force of a rocket launching itself into the stratosphere. The small smoke bomb exploded in a white cloud. “BUG OUT!” The guttural screech that emanated from the petite girl echoed in the smoke-filled classroom.
All eyes turned to Marinette who was half out one of the classroom windows. Her right arm and leg were hanging outside and the left side of her body was still inside the classroom. Someone cleared their throat, making Marinette’s head jerk to look at her friends, turned audience. Adrien sighed dreamily as Marinette’s eyes met his. “Marry me.” Marinette promptly fell out the window in shock.
Everyone let out a breath of relief when they saw Ladybug swing by a moment later.

Project Adrienette
Marinette had been on edge all week. Not because of Paris’s friendly neighborhood supervillain. No, it was her very own friends who were maxing out Marinette’s anxieties. It was the first Holiday season after Marinette had gotten over her fear of talking to Adrien, both of them now really good friends. Everyone knew that Marinette’s raging crush hadn’t dimmed in the slightest, so she should have been expecting something to happen
It started Monday, when Marinette was rushing to school. Not watching where she was going, she collided directly into someone’s back as she ran into the school courtyard. The person also running late just happened to be Adrien Agreste. “Late again?” Marinette smirked as Adrien groaned.
“Mari, are you honestly surprised? You know I’m late just as much as you are.” He was, in fact, just as late as Marinette was most of the time. It was their mutual lateness that had given Marinette the opportunity to break the ice that had frosted over their potential friendship.
The pair walked to class together, as friends do, Marinette and Adrien casually chatting as they made it to the classroom before the bell rang. Marinette was met with classmates milling about, but there was one person missing. Next to Rose, Juleka was no where to be found. The absence made Marinette pause just inside the classroom door. Juleka had had perfect attendance for the past three years.
Movement flashed at the corner of Marinette’s eye. Marinette turned to see Juleka advancing on her and Adrien, who was still walking to his seat. In her hand was a sprig of mistletoe. Smiling wickedly, Juleka winked at someone behind Marinette. Alya’s telling snicker was all the answer Marinette needed to find out who she would need to fight later. Lunging forward, Marinette grabbed the mistletoe from Juleka, stuffing it in her bag right as Adrien made it to his seat and turned back around.
Adrien looked at Marinette in confusion when he realized she was still near the door. “Mari? You okay?” Marinette looked around the suspiciously quiet classroom and realized that everyone had been in on this little scheme. Well, everyone was going to have to get a little talking to.
“Yep, all good!” Her voice was too bright, but Adrien seemed to relax at her words, sitting down in his seat. When Adrien turned to talk to Nino, Marinette sent a glare that even medusa would have considered “stone cold” to each of her classmates. Everyone shrugged like they had no idea what she was referring to.
Making her way to her seat, Marinette watched Alya continue to hold back laughter. Huffing as she sat down, Marinette leaned over and whispered to Alya. “I’m demoting you from best friend to mortal enemy.”
Laughter finally bubbled out of Alya as she pressed a hand to her mouth to quiet her loud snorts. “It was so worth a try. You know, everyone here even agreed to call off the bets so we could work together on “project Adrienette” during the holidays.”
Marientte’s voice came out shrill. “The bets?!” Staring at her best friend dumbfounded, Marinette didn’t notice Adrien turn around.
“What bets?” Marientte’s head whipped to the seat in front of her where Adrien was watching with questioning eyes.
“Oh, nothing. You know, just, um…” Marinette’s voice was nervous as she tried to come up with some sort of response. Luckily, Mme. Bustier walked in. “Oh look, time for class. I’ll tell you later!” Adrien gave her an odd look but turned to face the front of the classroom anyway.
-o-o-o-o-o-
Marinette should have known to stay on edge the next day based on Alya’s comment about everyone working together during the holidays. Alas, she didn’t and was completely unprepared when she saw a fishing line with a sprig of mistletoe being lowered between her and Adrien while he was facing the front of the classroom in his seat.
Glancing behind her slightly, Marinette saw Alix a few steps above. She didn’t exactly know where they were going with this one until Kim spoke up. “Hey Adrien!” Time seemed to slow as Marinette watched Adrien begin to turn around. Launching herself from her seat, Marinette clapped down on the mistletoe and pulled it from the fishing line. Barley sitting down before Adrien was fully turned around.
“Yeah Kim? Oh, cool fishing pole Alix, is that what you guys wanted to show me?” Kim and Alix both facepalmed as Marinette smiled in self-satisfaction.
She knew it wasn’t over though which is why the next day, Marinette was practically twitching with how wound up she was. Her head jerked from side to side ever few moments, making sure there wasn’t any mistletoe or Adrien in sight.
She was so busy observing her surroundings that she didn’t think to actually check the doorway to her classroom before it was too late. As she bumped into a solid chest, a course of “OOOOOO”s could be heard. Craning her head up, she saw Adrien who, instead of looking at the girl who had just run directly into him, was looking up, at a sprig of mistletoe taped to the doorway.
As soon as he realized what it was, Adrien’s head snapped down, eyes seeking out Marinette. She quickly began to pull away from him, words stumbling out of her mouth. “Sorry, my bad. You don’t have to. I mean, it’s just a silly…” Marinette was cut off as Adrien pulled her back in with a hand on her waist as his other gently cupped her chin, tilting her head up so their lips could meet.
There were cheers from inside the classroom. A few moments into their kiss, a cleared throat broke them apart. “As happy as I am you two finally figured this little dance of yours out, I’d like to get in my classroom, so I can start class please.” Mme. Bustier looked at the teens with faux ire as she held back a smile.
Marinette and Adrien’s faces burned as they fully entered the classroom with their teacher on their heels. Before the lesson began, Chloe addressed the whole class smugly. “I told you the classic “taped to the doorway” trick would work.”

Re-Designer
Marinette grumbled to herself as she clicked through the new pictures Alya had posted on the Ladyblog. The most recent akuma design was, yet again, atrocious. For someone who was able to control water, the akuma’s outfit had been garishly yellow with stripes of bubblegum pink and chartreuse. Marinette could have designed something better in her sleep. In fact, she had come up with a better design the moment she’d heard the akuma’s name and found out their powers.
She was so busy fuming over Hawkmoth’s incapability to consider even the simplest color chart, that she didn’t hear the flapping of wings until Tikki shrieked as a butterfly landed on the pen Marinette was holding. “Re-Designer, I am Hawkmoth. If you agree to…”
“Shut it moth man. I can feel myself getting worse at designing just by hearing your voice.” Marinette felt the akumatization wash over her. “Let’s see what trash color combination you put me in.” She walked over to the mirror and faked a gag. “Really, orange and blue ruffles? I’m personally offended.” Re-Designer pointed her pen, now turned short wand, at her own outfit, changing it to a fitted jacket and a tailored pant that fit impeccably, both in a tasteful dark maroon. One of the lapels of the jacket held a little slot for Re-Designer to put her wand. “Now this is what I call a supervillain’s outfit.” Re-Designer did a little spin for herself in the mirror, ending with a wicked smile at herself. “Now it’s time to fix some mistakes.”
Knowing exactly where to start, Re-Designer made one more minor change to her outfit design. Pressing the small button than was now above the wand slot, a small jetpack formed on Re-Designer’s back before she went up to her balcony and jetted off.
A few minutes later, Re-Designer landed outside the house of the person who had had the worst ever akuma design, Nino Lahiffe, aka The Bubbler. Lucky for her, Nino was currently walking out of the building. “Well, hey there Bubbler.”
Nino spun around from where he’d been locking the door. “Whoa, Marinette, you scared me. Wait, did you just call me Bubbler?” Re-Designer smiled sweetly at the confused boy in front of her. She was so focused on Nino that she didn’t notice Adrien walking down the street towards Nino’s house.
“That I did, Bubbles.” Pulling out her wand from its holder, Re-Designer gently waved it around. “I was just thinking about how terrible your design was when you were The Bubbler so I thought Re-Designer could do a little, well, redesigning.” Re-Designer let a hand fly to her mouth in a signature anime villain cackle as she watched Nino’s eyes widened when it dawned on him that she was akumatized.
Unbeknownst to Re-Designer, Adrien realized she was akumatized the exact same moment Nino did, and immediately dove into the bushes he’d been walking passed. Chat Noir immerged moments later, slowly beginning to make his way around the akumatized girl.
Re-Designer gave her wand a final twirl then pointed it at Nino, directing a bolt of sparkling pink light at him. The glittering wave washed over Nino, leaving him in a dark navy suit with embroidered bubbles in a light blue thread snaking up the side of the suit, from the right hem of his pant leg to the curve of his right shoulder. In his hands was a much sleeker bubble wand in a light blue matching the embroidered bubbles. “Um, Mari, not that I don’t mind the redesign, but um, it wasn’t really necessary.”
Re-Designer beamed at Nino. “Of course it was. Hawkmoth made you a costume that nearly caused permanent blindness to anyone who viewed it. I had to fix that travesty.” Nino’s eyes flashed to a place behind Re-Designer. Right as Chat Noir swiped to grab her, Re-Designer jumped to the side.
Whirling on Chat, Re-Designer pointed the wand at the superhero. “You know Kitty, your suit could use a little redesigning too.” Chat went to grab for Re-Designer’s wand, but pink sparkles washed over him before he could.
Re-Designer smirked. “That’s better.” Chat looked down at his suit which had shrunk down to a pair of black shorts, his belt tail, and the gold bell which was now attached to a choker like collar. As Nino doubled over in fits of laughter, Chat gaped.
Shaking off his shock, Chat sauntered towards a still smirking Re-Designer. “You know Marinette, if you wanted to see me with my shirt off, you could have just asked.”
“Well what would have been the fun in-“ Re-Designer’s words abruptly stopped as Chat plucked the wand from her hand. She hadn’t realized how close Chat had gotten.
“I will just hold onto this until Ladybug gets here.” Chat glared at Nino who was now sitting on his stairs, unable to hold himself up from laughing so hard. “How do I change my suit back Mari?”
“That was crafty kitty. You won’t be able to change your suit back until Ladybug uses the cure and that won’t be happening anytime soon so…” Re-Designer causally flicked one of her earrings. Re-Designer giggled when Chat gasped in realization.
“Be right back, stay here.” Chat ran into Nino’s house, both Re-Designer and Nino looking after him in confusion. A moment later, darkness rippled over Re-Designer, leaving an unakumatized Marinette in its wake.
Looking around in confusion, Marinette noticed a still suited up Nino on his stairs. “Wow Nino, that’s a really nice suit.”
“Um, thanks. You made it.” Brows drawing together, Marinette looked at her friend in confusion.
“I what? What do you…” Marinette trailed off when Chat stepped out of the house in his new and improved suit. She didn’t know whether to stare or laugh. Staring was what she went with. Slack jawed, Marinette watched Chat Noir waltz over to her in what looked to be more of a stripper outfit than a superhero suit. Had she done that?
“Sorry Nino but the princess and I need to go deal with something.” Marinette didn’t know if Nino had said anything in response because Chat Noir pressed her close and extended his baton, lifting them both into the air. Was Marinette internally screaming because she was currently pressed up against her very attractive partner’s bare chest? Yes.
When they’d made it a little ways from Nino’s house, Chat Noir set Marinette down and handed her the akuma, which he’d trapped in a glass jar she hadn’t even noticed. She’d been a bit distracted. “I think you can take care of this.” Chat raised a brow at her in expectation.
Marinette groaned as she took a few steps back from her nearly naked partner. “Not only did I turn you into a stripper while akumatized, but I also told you who I was?” Chat nodded, grinning mischievously.
Chat was glad Marinette had forgotten his next words when the akumatization broke, because it was prefect for his next move. “You know My Lady, you could have just asked if you wanted to see me out of the suit.” Before Marinette could protest, Chat Noir released his transformation.
Marinette should have been more surprised to see Adrien Agreste standing in front of her, now fully clothed. “Honestly, I thought Chat’s abs looked familiar.”
“Oh, you mean these abs?” Adrien slipped his shirt over his head. He gestured towards his sculpted stomach. “You know, the ones you were so desperate to see that you got yourself akumatized.”
Marinette only let herself admire Adrien’s physique for a moment before she snapped her eyes back to his face. “Excuse me, I got akumatized because of how trash Hawkmoth’s designing skills are when it comes to akuma outfits.” Smirking, Marinette nodded towards Adrien’s shirtless form. “This was just a happy accident.”
“Oh really?” Adrien began to saunter up to Marinette. “A happy accident?”
“Of course. In fact, maybe I should thank Hawkmoth for his appalling taste if this is the outcome.” Marinette tilted her head up towards Adrien as he stopped in front of her.
“Hmm, maybe you should.” Their lips met for a moment before laughter bubbled up from Marinette.
“Sorry, but I just had a thought. What if Hawkmoth was a fashion designer or something. It would be so ironic if he was in the fashion industry, yet created such distasteful outfits.”
Adrien joined Marinette in her laughter. “That would be hilarious!”
The two heroes laughed at the outlandish idea of Hawkmoth being a fashion designer. Across town, Gabriel Agreste overdramatically monologed about next summer’s fashion line inspired by The Bubbler’s outfit while sitting alone in his dark room of butterflies.

Butterflies Fly Away
Adrien first found out about the after effects of Jackaday on his father by accident. He was watching an animal documentary when his father came into Adrien’s room to talk to him about a photoshoot the previous day. A segment on butterflies was began as Adrien’s father spoke. When the narrator uttered the first “butterfly,” Gabriel went silent, staring into space for a moment before erratically flapping his arms until “butterfly” rang from the speakers again. Adrien watched as his father froze again, then continued on with the lecture he’d previously been giving.
There was no way Adrien was going to tell his father about the little butterfly incident. He did however, tell Nino, who practically died from laughing so hard. “Oh my god, dude, that is the best thing I’ve ever heard!” A scheming tone entered Nino’s voice. “And he only stopped when her heard the word butterfly again?”
“Yeah, it was almost like he was trying to be a butterfly. And don’t think I don’t know you’re planning something, I know you are. Tell me what shenanigans you have in mind.”
Nino laughed. “Only you would use the word shenanigans. You’re right though. So here is what I’m thinking…”
A smile spread across Adrien’s face as Nino explained the plan.

It was a challenge to get Adrien’s father to agree to letting Nino tag along to a photoshoot, insisting he come along as well to make sure the teens didn’t goof off. Exactly as Nino planned.
The three sat in the back of one of the Agreste limos, in silence, on their way to the shoot. Gabriel was seated across from the boys, so Adrien had to suppress his smirk when he saw Nino pull his phone out of his pocket. A few moments later, an American song called “Party in the USA” began to play through Nino’s phone speakers.
“Turn that noise off….” Gabriel’s harsh words were cut off as Nino scrubbed to the time that the line “and the butterflies fly away,” is first sung. Freezing, Gabriel’s eyes hazed over. He began to flap his arms as Nino let the music continue playing.
Adrien and Nino burst into laughter as Adrien’s father flapped his arms faster and faster. As the line was sung again, the boys quickly schooled their features. “…or else I will turn this car around and you will not be…” Gabriel froze again as the line came back around. This time Nino pause the music. The boys cackled.
Right as Nino was about to press play on the song again, Gabriel let out a groan. “Not working, must fly.” Adrien and Nino looked at each other in worry. “Darkwings, Rise!”
Adrien and Nino screamed as Gabriel Agreste transformed into Hawkmoth right in front of them. The transformation must have snapped the villain out of his trance because his eyes widened when he looked down to see the cane in his hand. Hawkmoth also began to scream as his eyes darted between his son and his son’s best friend.
Still screaming, Adrien reached forward and ripped the broach from his father’s chest. Hearing the screaming from his passengers, the driver pulled over. Adrien, still screaming, jumped out of the car and began to run. Gabriel following behind, also still screaming.
Marinette Dupain-Cheng began to scream from her balcony when she saw her screaming crush running down the street with the butterfly miraculous held out in front of him.
