CLOSED RP WITH MLADXST (TEENAGER AU)
News had spread that there was to be a sort of dance thrown in the town square that night. Of course Zelda hadn’t even bothered to ask if she could go, as the answer was obvious. A great big ‘no’, from both Impa and her father. Now that the princess was older, she had more studies to focus on and responsibilities to prepare for. It was rare that she was ever allowed out of the castle walls, even with an escort. Perhaps it was because they suspected she would get up to mischief of some kind or another.
Luckily, permission was never an issue for the now teenage princess, and she had already made plans to sneak out that night. Doing so wasn’t much of a challenge, even after many years of doing so, as the princess could always find new ways to get around the frustrated guards. As the sun sank behind distant grassy hills and the sky settled down into twilight embers, Zelda donned a cloak over a more casual dress - dark blue skirt with cream sleeves - and set out for the square. Lanterns had been strung around town and were people lit as more excited young townsfolk gathered there. Zelda hung back and perched on the edge of the fountain, watching people as they rushed around to set the last few things up. She absent-mindedly wove a simple little flower crown from what she found around her, and waited with everyone else for the sun to vanish completely. It wasn’t long before it was properly dark, and a small collection of people began to play merry little tunes on various instruments. It certainly wasn’t the kind of music that the princess had heard when she was taught how to dance. But then, that was formal dance and this… This was all very unfamiliar to her.
People started to get up and move around to the music, clapping and stomping in a fashion that would certainly have been frowned upon at any formal event. A smile crept it’s way onto Zelda’s lips. She liked this kind of dancing. She also desperately wanted to join in, but found it difficult to drum up the courage. Most of the people dancing seemed to have partners. Part of her hoped someone would ask her to dance, but part of her dreaded the thought. It would only end with her making a fool of herself after all… right? The princess sighed and rested one hand on her cheek, resigning to simply watch for now. To watch and perhaps learn a thing or do. Her foot tapped to the beat as other young faces laughed and twirled around her. Steeling her nerves, Zelda stood and moved a little closer to the musicians. She shifted her weight from foot to foot, swaying to the timing of the music, before a she cracked a wide grin and began to dance as best she could. Twirls and swinging steps were carried out as Zelda danced with an invisible partner to the lively music, decidedly pretending not to care what other people might think.
