You know how when we were introduced to Fei some people in the fandom were like 'You look familiar- Nathalie's daughter!?'
Well to coincide with my con-artist gabenath Au I give you:
Before Tibet, before Emilie, before the miraculous. Nathalie and Gabriel had been in Shanghai for a con that had lasted longer than expected, they settled rather quickly because, surprisingly, Shanghai can be a beautiful place when you don't have a bounty on your head.
It was unplanned (because obviously trying to outrun a mafia is the most romantic thing ever- definitely) but about a year into their stay they welcomed Fei. Everything was okay, circumstances weren't the greatest but they were happy.
But then the con finally ended, Nathalie and Gabriel were expected back in Paris to take up some business, business that was far too dangerous for a three year old. So they had to leave her behind. They left her in the hands of her canonical guardian hoping he'd keep her safe from the mafia.
The last thing 3 year old Fei remembers hearing from her mother was 'I'll come back for you, or you'll find me, I promise.'
