Happy MLKjr Day
I wonder of you, often in times like these. I wonder what you’d think of this place, in this time. I wonder of your dream, of how it would grow, especially here, especially now. I wonder if you’d smile, if you’d sigh, if you’d look around with disbelief that still, after all this time, there is cause to resist, to fight on. I wonder if you’d be proud of the steps we have taken, of the progress we have made. I think your fist would raise to the sky hearing chants of Obama, I think you’d have chanted, too. I wonder of you, often, today more than all days. Thank you, though that’s thin and hollow, I say it still. Your dream is my dream is our dream and I hope you know we still dream it, we still hold it sacred and dear, we still whisper of it with reverence and courage. Hear me when I say we will try to do better, try to do more, try to lean into hatred only with love. This is your day, and I am so sorry we need it. I wish you were here, 360 some steps into your nineties, slower, softer, wrinkled, brave. Here’s to you, here’s always to you. . . . . . . #martinlutherking #martinlutherkingjr #mlk #mlkweekend #mlkday #mlkday2020 #tylerknott #tylerknottgregson #resist #blacklivesmatter #hope #hero (at National Civil Rights Museum) https://www.instagram.com/p/B7jUnAJFjIw/?igshid=xq09hyw0p8oq
The USA was the world's first real attempt at freedom. A nation built on a doctrine of rules meant to restrict government's power and promote individual liberty. It's awesome to live in a time where that freedom has been able to fully manifest itself. Let's not go backwards.
"Because the goal of America is freedom, abused and scorned tho' we may be, our destiny is tied up with America's destiny." - MLK

MLK DAY in Redondo Beach will never be the same. Dr. Goodloe brought the talent. I handled the marketing and publicity. Captain Naylor kept the wheels on the bus and together, we got it done. 🤜🏼🤛🏾Community buy-in was a huge factor. How we sell this to our board, our community, and surrounding areas was pivotal. We had to tell the story and show them that this book has a happy ending. Telling the story again and again to get the sponsors and our elected officials to bring their effort and energy to the table was essential. 💪🏾 And on this day, the story was told from so many different perspectives. There was no way that you would leave without being touched by the enormity of the evening. ❤️ Thank you to those that came out to support and those that supported in the background with the love and effort. It matters. This day, Redondo Beach showed it’s true character and we are all better for it! 🖤🙌🏾💫🙏🏽🕊 #RedondoBeach #MLKDAY2020 #RBPD #home #CommunityBoard #Unity #Monument #RBPF #ThankYou #History #IssaParty 🥳 #2StepsForward (at Redondo Beach, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/B78qLPThXIo/?igshid=tyggzz794zqv
Martin Luther King Day was last week. The City of Columbus held its celebration and march at East High School. COTA buses paid tribute to Dr. King’s legacy all week, and there were special events at Capital University, Otterbein University, and the Bexley Public Library to commemorate King’s Legacy as well. There were Prayer Breakfasts in Westerville, Olde Towne East, and the biggest MLK Breakfast in America (sells out every year) at the Greater Columbus Convention Center, where at the latter, two protesters were arrested as Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther spoke at the podium.
