Miles looked around the dance and could not help but scoff just a smidge. The whole idea behind having a dance was just dumb, he didn’t like them. “This is actually sincerely dull?”
“Yes I got the okay from my mother to wear this, now can you please just tighten this thing for me?” May turned around to reveal the slightly loose laces of her Columbia costume’s corset.
Aesir didn’t exactly want to go as anything for Halloween but he knew that he had to attend and in turn pulled together a last minute costume by finding a Batman shirt at a thrift store. He intends to come up with a witty comeback in case anyone asks him what he is but he has yet to think of anything.
It had been many years since Aesir had his nightmare, he had it frequently as a child after his parents had explained to him why they had hidden him away from the world outside of Jotunheim, but the nightmare had faded away. Until recently.
He stood in the throne room of Jotunheim, leaning cockily against the throne. In his hands was a spell book, his eyes moving over it whilst an apple levitated in front of him, spinning on its axis until Aesir would pluck it away, take a bite and then return it. It was always more relaxed on Jotunheim, more confident, even more cocky. But like how sports players played better on their home ground, Aesir was generally better in his home realm.
"My Prince." His attention was withdrawn from the book when a worker of the dressmaker appeared in front of him, holding two designs for two different cloaks. They were both a light blue with white trim, designed for a woman. The worker was asking him to pick and after a few seconds a sound that was a mixture between disgruntled and overwhelmed escaped his throat.
"Mother?" He asked for help with a smile, catching her attention as she lifted her head from the work in front of her on the throne.
"The one on the left. The silver will suit her eyes better." The worker, satisfied with this answer left them alone in the throne room until his father walked in only moments later.
"A pretty cloak for a pretty girl I presume?" He asked with a smirk as he approached the pair, kissing Sigyn softly broke he stole Aesir's apple, not that he minded.
"Let me be." Aesir teased in return, snapping the boom shut as the man draped himself over the throne next to Sigyn.
The moment was peaceful.
And unfortunately shattered too soon.
The doors to the throne room burst open in an echoing screech that was quickly swallowed up by the sounds of yells, metallic crashes and feet stomping disrespectfully across the floor towards the trio.
"Aesir! Run!" His mother's words didn't properly register in his head but the firm shove on his back worked just as well.
He raced away from the throne towards the help exit, his feet stumbling and catching himself before a guard grabbed him. At first he froze, pulling uselessly at his arm before he remembered who he was.
In half a second his guard was down, revealing his blue skin that hid underneath his magic. Reaching out the man pressed his palm to the exposed face of the guard, hardly listening to his screams of anguish and pain, only waiting for him to let go. And he did.
"I wouldn't run boy. Tell me, you've spent time on Midgard. Did you ever read Alice's Adventures in Wonderland?" Fear shot through Aesir's gut at the question, spinning around on his toes to see the sight in front of him.
His father was on his knees, a silencer on his mouth and his head forced down by another guard. His mother was also on her knees but a guard his hands were in his hair, pulling her face up to expose her neck where a sharp blade pressed against her jugular.
"No." The man whispered quietly, staring at the petrified face of his mother and the defeated expression of his father.
"Come quietly. Or off with her head." The guard snarled, staring at Aesir as if he were something disgusting on the bottom of his shoe.
So he did.
Aesir bowed his head, let the spell rise up on his body again and shut up.
The only sounds left in the throne room as he was lead away were the pained screams from his mother and the soft sobs of his father.
