Keeping Your P(i)MP Hand Strong: An MMLTD Choose Your Own Adventure

You check your email when you walk into work, and discover an email from the professional association your company has belonged to for the last couple of years.  This association provides online hour-long conferences and trainings that are eligible to maintain various professional certifications, including your PMP (Project Management Professional), all at no cost to you.  These credits can cost hundreds, if not thousands of dollars, and are needed to maintain your credentials every 3 years.  

Today's email sadly indicates that your company has ended it's contract with the association, and classes will no longer be offered after today. This means your free learning resource ends right along with the contract.

Do you:

A: Sadly admit defeat to procrastination, and look for other venues for cost effective continuous learning options in the coming year.

B: Email your benefits department to see if you can negotiate tuition reimbursement for continuing credit classes.

C: Immediately troll the associations website for any and all replay sessions, cue them all to play back to back all day while you multitask with work, and download all the materials for review later, because you'll be damned if you let 10 credit hours fall to the wayside just because your suck ass company decided to cut a benefit you actually used short.

You drop the beat, I'll drop the flow...

...charts.  Today's work theme is all about flow charts.  Why?  Because my project is design a process and system to send data from point A, to point B, and then get responses back.  Well, someone needs to know (1) how that might fail, (2) where it might fail, (3) why it might fail, and (4) who's going to be looking at the failure reports.  We've been told most of the steps our data will take, and how it's being reviewed.  But there's a difference between understanding a process via a 90 page requirements document, and looking at a process distilled down to about 8 pages of well spaced flow charts.

All's well that ends well

This is my first post on my new phone. The S5 is gorgeous. The screen is bright and big. It's peppy and works nicely with all my old apps. There's some bloatware, but minimal. I'm really pleased. Moreso, I'm just happy today is over. It's been another long one. Worked until 7:30th again. I'm beat. Tomorrow should be okay. At least I have a new toy to entertain me. Good luck everyone else.

Conference Call Etiquette

If I join a conference call, announce myself, but they clearly don't realize I'm here, what is my obligation? Difficulty ; they are a third party distributor talking about internal policies/pricing rates. Extra Difficulty ; I've been on the call for 20 minutes already. Super Difficulty ; I don't really care.
