if I see anymore insulin discourse, i’ll pull my hair out. here’s what I wrangled up:

you can get the ReliOn brands over the counter anywhere without a prescription

you can get syringes in most states without a prescription (limit on how many is by state)

this insulin is human insulin and not analog, you must have a script for Humalog, Novalog, Apidra, as well as Lantus.

The old brands are not for everyone, (especially if you’ve never been on the older kinds of insulin, it’s a change for sure) but they are not like water, or useless, or ‘only for pets.’ They can absolutely help a diabetic out in a jam and yes, you will have to adjust if you’re on quicker acting insulins. and of course, speak with your doctor to figure it all out with carbs and activity levels and such since it’s a change.

Insulin prices need to change, absolutely, but stop telling people us diabetics are dead if we dare use a cheap brand when in a bind- because we’ll be dead if we don’t use insulin at all. I’m a type 1 who makes none of my own. I’d like to kinda live, thanks.
