Day Three:
Verbal contact yet to be established.
Well, unless you count the brief introduction their manager gave her at the end of her first day, but that lasted no more than thirty seconds before she had to hurry off to meet someone she had exchanged details with earlier in the day.
Or…maybe it was his attempt at a friendly greeting that had made her leave so quickly and then proceed to virtually ignore him for the next two days. Thinking about it he supposed he could not really blame her, whenever he attempted any level of sincerity it always tended to come off as being mildly terrifying. Blast it, how on earth could a simple introduction be so difficult? Everyone else seemed to do it easily enough, why was it apparently too difficult for his frankly brilliant mind to handle? Alright, so he might not exactly be able to process emotions the same as the rest of the population, but he was rather good at acting like he did- Ah. And there again is the problem. He wasn’t trying to act for her, for whatever reason. Why exactly was that? Certainly it would be better if he did, he had no doubt that she would be more comfortable around him if he donned the same mask he used while interacting with everyone else, but… he didn’t want to? It just felt…wrong, somehow. How, he had no idea, but somehow it did.
This realisation was troubling. He resolved to push it to the back of his mind to ponder at some later stage. Preferably never.
Day Four:
She asked him where the sugar was stored. He informed her it was to the left of the coffee beans in the pantry and he only stammered once. She thanked him and he managed to withstand her warm smile without sighing happily like some swooning teenager.
Success.
Day Eleven:
She called in sick. He surprised himself and his fellow employees by volunteering to cover her shift.
Day Twelve:
She forgot to thank him for taking on her work the day before. He was troubled that this troubled him.
She smiled at him when she returned a table number to the counter. He was in an uncharacteristically good mood for the rest of the day.
