what are your top ten tomberly or drakkon/ranger slayer moments (from comics or games)?
It would take too long if I answered both in one ask so we'll start with DrakkonSlayer!
10) That random poster for Power Month to advertise the new flipheads. Never in a million years did I ever think they'd make something like this and it astounds me every time i see it on my wall. Extremely funny concept of them just chilling with their tuoys. Slayer's hot pink hair is very off but maybe she was experimenting for a time
9) Their banter in Battle for the Grid's story mode. While not too noteworthy I just like how entire cutscene basically sums up the tunnel vision these two have for each other where they just HAVE to be the one to get in the last word
like literally Rita has to tell them to shut up or else they would have just kept going
8) Stupid idiot too wrapped up in showing off to his wife that he doesn't notice the VERY OBVIOUS TELLS that she's freed from his spell like oh my god how did you not see the giant death bow was missing. I always liked how this was the first subtle hint that Drakkon saw Slayer as more than just an underling, considering he's basically saying that once he's a god (therefore rendering the need for an assassin like her unnecessary) he'll make sure to swing by and pick her up. He's so excited about this that Finster-5 has to be the one to be like. Drakkon. The death bow. THE DEATH BOW
7) 116's flashback. Obviously I'll bring up this issue a lot because #116 is kind of The DrakkonSlayer Event but I don't talk enough about the opening flashback. god what I wouldn't give for more DrakkonSlayer stuff set both before and during Drakkon's reign - this does such a good job of setting the scene of Drakkon's true desire for Slayer and how at odds they are about it, even when she's under the spell. soooooo messy, I love it
6) Whatever was going on here. The Coinless is another DrakkonSlayer event full of great moments but I have a special spot in my heart for this one. That single panel where he's smirking and she's glaring at him is just too good and says so much with no dialogue. But at the same time he's being a little shit this is also when he stops calling her Ranger Slayer and calls her Kimberly Hart the rest of the book, which is a very interesting little touch.
5) The beginning of my descent into madness. A breakup scene so good they had to do it twice!!!!!!! I really don't know how anyone sees this and thinks that JASON is Drakkon's nemesis because like. what do you think this is. And obviously any instance of Tomberly bringing up "I miss you" will send me into fits
4: Can I rizz you up? no. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEA goddddd this is what I mean when I say I wish we had more insight into Drakkon's world before and during his reign. The concept of Slayer and Drakkon constantly fighting??? But never landing the finishing blow on either side??? What does it MEANNNNN what happened when Drakkon took her coin when did they start getting so obsessed with each other AAAAAAAAA
(remember when I said other fandoms would kill for this dynamic? it's still true. god DrakkonSlayer is wasted on the PR fandom.)
3: The L word. MAN was this so validating after so many years of the comics very obviously dancing around Drakkon and Slayer's connection being romantic - not DENYING it, but also not DWELLING on it too much either. Drakkon flat-out confirming he was in love with her just felt like everything FINALLY clicking into place.
Also I'm forever tickled by how annoyed he is about it and how unbothered Slayer is about it. It's such a funny way to confirm that this is not news to either of them.
2: I JUST DID TWENTY LINES OF DRAKKONSLAYER COCAINE AT SIX IN THE MORNING. Honestly the only reason this isn't #1 is because #1 is that good and also this makes me long for a universe where the Drakkon Rangers just had their own self-contained Darkest Hour miniseries
1: GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD
and also shout-out to The Morphin Masters for making this moment even more intimate for no reason
