(i have never actually watched the parent trap, only the german film from 2017 but both of them are adaptations of the same story)

Sid takes Liam, Geno takes Markus

Sid's a youth hockey coach in Halifax and he put Liam into Russian lessons purely because "it's a good language to know in hockey". Their home life is very structured; lot's of rules, lot's of routines.

Geno's a hockey scout, specifically for Russian players, so he spends a lot of time in Russia. He usually takes Markus with him, who's homeschooled (and a bit of a wild child) as a result, and they're joined by Ovi, Geno's best friend. When they're not in Russia they live in Miami.

Liam and Markus both attend a hockey summer camp in Pittsburgh. Everyone's surprised because here are two children that look the same and work incredibly well together on the ice despite not knowing each other before this.

At some point, Liam mentions being from Halifax and Markus is says: "That's so cool, I was born there. On the 21st of February." and Liam is like: "No way, me too." and then they have a weird stare-off until they agree that they are probably twins.

They decide to switch places so that they can bring their parents back together. They can't quite figure out how to mask the mirror twin thing but decide that they can just gaslight their way through it. ("I've always shot with this hand, dad.")

When Geno takes 'Markus' home, he tells him "You got accent over the summer, next time I put you into Russian summer camp." He makes Markus' favourite food, something including ketchup, witch Liam eats with great displeasure.

When Sid takes 'Liam' home, he introduces him to his new boyfriend, Nathan MacKinnon, who he coaches with. Sid is very distracted by his budding relationship, it's the only reason he accepts 'Liam' suddenly shooting with his left hand. They have a big fight about Sid spending so much time with Nate and Markus runs away during a rainstorm and he gets sick. Like, really sick.

Because Geno's a hockey scout, he gets some tape from the hockey summer camp because the twins worked together so well. He figures out that he has his other child, because that makes more sense than his son suddenly changing his shooting hand.

Geno and Liam fly out to Halifax. Markus is healed. Sid dumps Nate. They decide that Geno and Markus move up to Halifax that the twins can be together during the year. Sidgeno gets back together.

So, Sam and Marty proxyfucked at Worlds over Misa and it was probably a bit weird between them afterwards. Not that it wasn't weird between them before but that was mostly just Dickie being a bit weary of Marty, now it's weird from both sides.

Minty, being the good boyfriend that he is, is obviously updating Bedsy about the things going on at worlds, including the weird shift in tension between Samtone.

Bedsy is the person you need in every good gossip circle that flat out asks people about the rumours going around. Minty and him are an incredibly gossip-y couple, they love to talk about other peoples business and they will beat a dead horse until it comes back to life again, but Minty is much more reserved in how he acquires his gossip.

At some point after Sam and Misa join the Child-Captain-Canada-Training-Camp Mack has started the whole group is together (in a bar or on someone's couch) and Bedsy just turns to Sam and asks him what's up with him and Porter Martone. Sam insists that everything is fine because he can't exactly explain that he fucked the guy over not being able to fuck his crush who's currently sitting in his lap next to him. Bedsy is nothing but persistent because he's nosy as fuck and now everyone wants to know what's up with Sam and Marty, especially Misa because Marty's his friend and he wants all of his friends to be friends with each other. Sam doesn't break though, he insists that everything is fine.

A few days later they're at a bar and Mack's playing pool with Misa while Bedsy, Minty, Kindy and Sam are at a table. Everyone's a bit tipsy so Bedsy tries again because he's not leaving Van without this piece of gossip and Sam actually spills the beans that he hooked up with Marty but tells them that it was just casual, no deeper reason behind it.

Kindy just kind of sits there in shock because wtf? he didn't know Marty hooked up with NHL players other than him?? (He definitely isn't getting attached to Marty, what gave you that idea?). Kindy's now also considerably more red than at the start of this conversation, so Minty asks him if he's good and Kindy just nods, very much not okay.

Bedsy now has a new goal, he's like a dog that caught a scent and now won't let up until he has learned all the gossip there is. (Minty is also very much interested, but he's more subtle.)

omg hii @0shark-yaps, Kindy/Martone (or Kintone as I have named them, but i'm taking suggestions) was born because my brain desperately needed a break from studying, but now i'm running with it

i'm a big kindy fan (i love that boy so much) and i saw some ppl editing him and ryan leonard (who i have a love-hate-relationship with (i once wrote you an anon about werewolf!leno)) so i decided i needed something better because there's a distinct lack of kindy in hrpf yaoi but i dont want it to be with THAT man. Martone just happened to be the first one I could think of that didn't create a weird agegap, him being a flyer is just a bonus (i am very intrigued by enemies/rivals-to-lovers)

(for the next part, please keep in mind that i don't know shit about hockey (working on it) and i live nowhere near canada and i am not immersed in hockey culture in general so all i can do is scour the internet for information)

now for what's up with them: not much, i fear. there's not a lot of crossover for them, as Kindy played in the WHL and Martone in the OHL so they never played against each other. Concerning national teams there's always a split between them (Martone being born in 06, Kindy in 07) so they never played on the same team, the only team they both were on was the 2024 CHL USA prospects challenge (Martone was captain; they played on different lines). During the draft, Kindy got up to congratulate Matthew Schaefer (they won the Hlinka Gretzky cup together in 2024) but not Martone. In the NHL they only played each other during the playoffs and they were part of a scrum(?) at the end of game 3. So they know (of) each other, but more as acquaintances than anything else.

but the beautiful thing about rpf is that i can make stuff up (i first have to learn more about the flyers tho (the pens too but not as much)) because at the end of the day, everything is fictional :))

kintone hate-fucking after game 3 and kindy is so worried afterwards because he broke the no-sex-during-playoffs rule (and with a flyer too) and what if he just ruined their playoff series

but then they win game 4, so the fucking yielded results and he goes out to repeat it because if he needs to fuck a flyer to win he will. it's all in the name of science or whatever

more insight on Porter Martone and Michael Misa

Porter used to play on the Mississauga (now Brampton) Steelheads for three (two and a half) seasons with Luke Misa and they were on the top line together (for at least some of it).

So, in terms of Mistone he's not only crushing on his fellow Canadian, very good hockey player Michael Misa, but also his teammate's brother. He really does seem to be more obsessed with Mike than with Luke (based on Insta interactions).

I'm totally here for Porter "Big Feelings" Martone absolutely crushing on Mike and being a bit of an overexcited puppy about it. Misa is very oblivious to this all, he's having fun so there's nothing to think about, really. The people around them do notice Marty's crush and try to rein him in a bit because it's a bit ridiculous how he's behaving.

(Dare I say, Porter hooked up with Ben at the 2024 CHL USA prospects challenge because he reminded him of Misa. Kindy and Misa both being members of the dark-haired, be-cheeked and wet-eyed men club.)

Ok, so Kintone omegaverse

Porter Martone is an alpha if I've ever seen one. I can't really explain it but it's a combination of him being a big guy and just confident in himself. He just carries himself with the attitude of someone who's never been told he doesn't belong in hockey, if you know what I mean. He's been captain on a bunch of teams and also in a recent flyers DevCamp video he was lounging on a couch in a very dude-bro-alpha manner. It just makes sense in my head.

For Ben Kindel I'm leaning towards omega. He's obviously not the biggest guy and was drafted higher than expected but he put in the work and made it to the NHL. The Penguins are obviously not afraid to draft an omega (they have SidCros after all) even though they were criticised at first (and look how it worked out).

ohh, I love the Sidney Crosby of it all. It's one of my favourite things. They obviously all grew up idolising SidCros (I don't think you can do anything different if you're Canadian and into hockey) but Porter has said in an interview that SidCros was his favourite player growing up (Idk about the other two, but I know that Kindy wore 11 in the WHL because of Brendan Gallagher).

Ben gets to play with SidCros the whole season and sit next to him in the locker room. SidCros is described to have "Dad Energy" (put the website in reader mode to read (also I'd argue that SidCros is Mother)) and the whole team does feel like a family so they had a lot of fun this season. He hasn't been at any big events with SidCros, but he gets that kind of mentorship the whole season and theres no better way for a young player to come into the league, as he said (around 2:35).

Macklin is a generational talent, beloved by everyone (see the Olympic team). They play well together (I think, I know nothing about hockey) and Macklin gets to pick SidCros' brain (he also say's the very orange/light-red couch is pink, kinda concerning) when they do. SidCros also likes him and has nice things to say about him. Obviously at Worlds this year SidCros let Macklin keep the C (which I'm sure was a hilarious conversation) (also coming over to play Worlds when you could be resting after Playoffs (because you're 38?), I think he likes playing with Macklin), and they played some nice games together and had (as the Swiss commentators would say) excessive Ipad use during the games. (Also them cheesing at each other after Sid's goal was gold.)

Porter played with SidCros the World Championships in both 2025 (i was not a hockey fan then, idk what happened) and 2026 (i lived this one, Switzerland not winning wrecked me). He was drafted to the Flyers in 2025, so when they play each other in the NHL it's very intense (esp playoffs) but they seemed to get along well at Worlds. They played on the same line for some of it and it was a bit surreal for Porter, as SidCros was his childhood hero. Apparently Sid can get over his Flyers hate if it's a child/(his sons bf)/for Canada.

So it really is the Sidney Crosby thing from all angles because you get as a mentor (Kindy and Mack), a teammate (all of them at some point, Kindy at all times), an opponent (Marty and Mack) and a hockey legend to aspire to (all three of them). (And also a looming presence over the Kintone relationship because that is his baby and what is the Flyer doing here.)

first of all, i watch that clip a lot, so one more time is nothing, but also literal excerpt out of my ideas document:

Ben presents at some point before the 2024 USA CHL Prospects Challenge. He's an omega, but he's determined to not let that sway him from any of his goals. He's still a damn good hockey player and he will make it to th NHL.

At the Prospects Challenge he feels weirdly drawn to the (still unpresented) Porter Martone, but the guy's his captain and projected top pick in the draft, so it's not particularily weird that Ben wants to be in his vicinity. Porter presents after the Prospects Challenge, but 18 is a normal age to present, nothing weird about it. (He's an alpha btw, if that wasn't clear)

At the draft, they don't really meet. They're in each others vicinity from time to time, sure, but everyone is wearing heavy duty scent blockers, running purely on adrenaline and also they have things to do. They don't meet again afterwards until they play each other in the playoffs.

NHL players are only mandated to apply scent blockers at the start of the game. Of course, players are welcome to reapply as much as they want, but it's completely their choice. The scent blockers get worn down by sweat (even the heavy duty stuff) so by the end of the game, there's a lot more scents flying around than at the begining but it's all one soup of scents.

Except for when you fight someone one-on-one and even initiate skin-to-skin contact. It makes your opposing players scent much more present, in a way. So when Ben's omega suddenly begins to scream 'Mate' inside of him when Porter rips at his helmet he just gets more angry, because Why is his life like this? And who does this guy think he is?. And Porter's alpha also tells him 'Mate', but his supposed mate is currently trying to punch him in the face and he won't stand for that, the alpha inside him be damned.

Ben goes through a breakthrough heat afterwards (it's like 12h long and they have an off-day anyways, it's fine) but he won't tell anyone why. He knows exactly why but he's prepared to take it to his grave. He's not gonna have a soulmate on the Flyers, they can wait with that until they retire.

Porter goes into breakthrough rut. He tries to play it off as shit happens, you know but he spills after 36h because he's a yapper and likes to use Denver Barkey as his soundboard. They both don't know what would be the right thing to do in this situation, so they just carry on as if nothing happened.

(I love suzufield, it's definitely one of my comfort ships because, like natecale, i can genuinely be chill about them.)
