Some persons, like the current Minnesota Senate Republican “leadership” flouting the will of the clear Minnesota Republican majority that rejected Donald Trump in 2016, wish to keep basic human rights for themselves only. They disagree with certain people who thought that certain rights were inalienable and granted by the Creator and that the just powers of government are derived from the consent of the governed. At that time, “the governed” meant anyone who was neither Native American nor Black. There were no other exclusions because everyone was within a few generations of an immigrant. Reasonable persons may disagree about some things. Unreasonable people storm the Capitol carrying Confederate flags and murder police officers while shouting racist slogans and wearing viciously antisemitic T-Shirts.
