With a wide range of interests and experience, Asian American Angeleno Lauren YS has had her hand in academics, literature, teaching, illustration, and animation, leading, she says, to her ultimate arrival on the urban art stage. In addition to her heritage YS says her work "is influenced by dreams, mythology, death, comics, love, sex, psychedelia, and animation." In October, 2018, creating what she says was one her most fun, but technically challenging pieces, YS combined her breadth of experiences and influences with this nod to both the two-headed Roman god of beginnings and endings, Janus, and the ancient Greek poet Sappho.
