I don't particularly like eating mushrooms, but still want to. Which should I try?
We all have different taste buds, so I don't want to be responsible for a bad first (?) experience. š
I would suggest starting with the ones you can buy at a store, like champignons (Agaricus bisporus), or shiitake or nameko mushrooms. I, personally, don't like pickled mushrooms (that you will often find at a store) but cooked (fried) mushrooms like champignons are rather delicious, imo. And there are a lot of recipes out there how to cook those guys, too.
If you choose to try wild mushrooms, I suggest Boletus edulis (aka porcini / penny bun) (also good when fried) or golden chanterelles - they're great in soups and sauces, and their texture is hard, not slimey.
