Note: I’m so sorry I’m posting this late! I had a late night at work and my weekend ended up being busier than I thought because of the stupid holiday. I hope you’re all doing well 💖
Series Masterlist
Your phone buzzed just as your cool down ended on the treadmill. Swiping out of YouTube you open the message app to see a text from Cassian.
Cass: I spy a car comin down the driveway :)
You scream in excitement, booking it out of the home gym, taking the stairs two at a time up to the first floor. Cassian stands by the front door typing away on his phone only looking up when you grab his bicep, pulling on his arm out of excitement.
“How long have they been gone now?” Cassian asks
“3 weeks and 2 days,” you respond immediately. “It’s the longest we’ve been apart since we got engaged.” For the first time in your relationship Azriel had to travel to Europe for work. Typically, if he went to a different state within driving distance Azriel would try his best to come home the same day or first thing the next morning. Whatever was going on required more than a day trip.
You had hoped Azriel would bring you with him last minute. By the time you were kissing him goodbye it sunk in that you weren’t tagging along. Just him, Rhys, and a few of his men.
Watching the car inch down the driveway was maddening. You swear whoever was driving was going slow on purpose.
The black SUV finally came to a stop in front of the front porch, all four doors plus the trunk open all at once. Cassian opens the front door to greet his brothers but Azriel cuts him off. “Where is she?” Azriel asks quickly. He pushes his sleek black sunglasses on top of his head to shoot Cassian a serious glare. His brother smirks at him, stepping aside to reveal you practically bouncing up and down.
The smile on Azriel’s face grows to dazzling as soon as his hazel eyes land on you. You don’t even get to cross the threshold to greet your fiance. Azriel clears the small stone steps and porch to fling his broad body at you, wrapping you in his arms. Muscle memory has you putting your arms in their rightful place, wrapped around his neck, pulling Azriel impossibly closer to you. He buries his face in the crook of your neck breathing you in, reveling at the feel of you against him after so long.
Azriel’s hands travel slowly down your back to your thighs, scooping you up and pressing his forehead to yours. “My love,” he murmurs, pressing little pecks to your lips. “Oh my love, I missed you like you wouldn’t believe.”
You press a long, wanting kiss to his lips. “Missed you more.” You whisper against him. “I doubt that,” Azriel groans, deepening the kiss, pressing you to his body.
You break apart from him with a small ‘oh’, just remembering the thing you’ve patiently been waiting to show Azriel. Pushing on his chest gently to be put down Az complies, still keeping his hands planted on your waist. After being away for so long Azriel refuses to let you wander farther than arms length.
“I wanna show you something. I got something while you were away, it’s kinda crazy though.” You smile and scrunch your face. He raises a brow in confusion as to what his quiet girl could’ve done.
“Don’t keep me in suspense angel, what did you do?” Azriel teases, trying to pull you back to him. You lightly push against his chest to turn with your hip towards Az.
“You know how you always hold my hip right here and pull me close to you? And you leave me notes in the morning when you leave for work or when you go away?” Azriel nods, a soft smile pulling at his lips.
Your heart starts pounding, cheeks flushing from the shyness that’s suddenly overcome you.
“Well, I kept rereading the note you left and the others. I noticed you always sign them ‘Always yours, Forever mine’ and loved it. When I was reading them I realized I wanted something more permanent than pen and paper.” You watch as the realization of what you’ve done dawns on Azriel’s face.
Your loving fiance does his best to hold back a feral grin. Keeping his composure as he nods for you to show him the permanent change you’ve made to your body in honor of him.
Turning your right hip to Azriel you pull the waistband of your pants down, revealing your tattoo. Forever on your skin in Azriel’s handwriting is “Forever Mine”.
Azriel’s jaw drops and his eyes widen to the size of dinner plates. He drops to his knees slipping his hands under yours so he can really look at the ink you got for him. Your hands immediately find home in Azriel’s soft, dark hair, your fingers gently running through it like you’ve longed to do for weeks.
“Is it healed?” He asks. “Yeah. You can touch it if you want, love.”
The rough pads of Azriel’s fingers lightly drag across the words tattooed on you. His head tilts up to you again. A lovesick on his face, making his usually sharp features soften. “You got this for me?” His voice just above a whisper. You nod with a small smile pulling at your lips.
Azriel’s pupils take over his bright hazel irises. He bends his head down and presses a long kiss to your tattoo.
Azriel stands, his hands moving to cradle your face, his forehead resting on yours. “I will always be yours, my sweet girl.” Azriel presses a long kiss to your lips. “God, I fucking missed you.” He laughs out. “I can’t believe you got that.”
“Do you like it?”
“Do I like it? My love, you are insane if you think I hate that tattoo. I fucking adore it. It’s hot that you got a tattoo for me.” You giggle and kiss Azriel some more.
Az scoops you up in his arms, carrying you towards the en suite bathroom. You raise a questioning brow at him as Az crosses the threshold.
“I have airplane germs all over me and we haven’t been together in almost a month. I’m not showering without you. Plus I need to stare at that tattoo some more, completely unobstructed.”
You roll your eyes at Azriel’s dramatics. “Fine. But you’re watching my show with me later.” Azriel gives you a wicked grin at the mention of later, knowing you’ll be busy as soon as you get in the shower together.
marrying mob!az please 🩷 loving your writing so much 🩷
Note: thank you anon! Today is the last day of headcanon bingo. Thank you for playing along and celebrating 3k with me 🫶🏻 I appreciate you all so much
Warnings: none
When Azriel decided to propose he called a meeting while you were out
Who was in that meeting? Only the most important people. Cassian, Rhys, Mor and Feyre
Their opinions mattered most when it came to how he proposed and what kind of ring he should get you
Once Azriel told the group he’s proposing they all started screaming and jumping for joy
Cassian tackled Azriel
Mor, Feyre, and Rhys just held hands and spun around in a circle
Complete chaos, all Azriel’s fault
He was starting to regret asking them for help
Once order was restored Mor and Cassian tried to take over on ring design
Everything was overwhelming Az until Feyre, calm and helpful Feyre, shushed them. “I think this is my area of expertise.” And she was correct
That afternoon Feyre guided Azriel to this small jewelry shop. Az was confused at first. He wants to get you a nice expensive ring. Not something from here
“I see your scowl and I’m asking you to trust me on this. I know y/n, Azriel.” He took a deep breath and held the door open for her
He was so wrong about the shop. Each ring was handmade and custom. The jewels expensive and only made with the best silver and gold. Feyre was a huge help. Reminding Azriel what metal you wear and helping him design a piece of art you can wear forever
5 agonizing weeks later when the ring was done Azriel rushed to pick it up
He didn’t know if he should wait and plan the perfect moment or if she should just get on one knee now
Azriel was very nervous he’d misplace the ring and he would never forgive himself
That’s when the perfect idea hit him. Dinner in the gardens, just the two of you, and he’d propose that night
You truly had no idea Azriel was proposing
He did a good job at hiding it from you
Cassian and Rhys almost ruined it. And Azriel’s money was on Mor and Cassian not being able to keep their mouths shut, not Rhys
You’d never seen Azriel so nervous in the moments before he got down on one knee
You were crying as you said yes. Once Az slipped the ring in your finger (a perfect fit) the two of you wouldn’t let go of each other
A few weeks later wedding planning was in full swing
You had a wedding planner, decided on your date, destination, and venue
All that was left were the small details even though there was no such thing as
Azriel was committed to doing everything with you
Picking the napkins and seating, cake tasting, and if he could go dress shopping with you he would
On the day of your wedding Azriel sent a pair of earrings to the bridal suite that match the stone in your ring along with a note telling you how much he loves you
You do your vows in private after the ceremony
The vows Azriel has for you are for your ears only
The two of you dance all night
You can’t stand being away from your husband for more than 2 minutes of you drift away to greet a guest or get a drink
Azriel can’t keep his hands off you and keeps calling you ‘my beautiful wife’ and watches you blush like crazy
After the ceremony and party you two go home and in the morning head straight for the jet for your honeymoon
Married life is perfect with Azriel
It’s like you guys brought the honeymoon home
Azriel has been happy no matter what news he’s given at work
It’s ok, if something goes wrong he can just go hug and kiss his wife and it’ll be all better
He spends more time out of his office just so he can say ‘I’m going to go see my wife’
You two go on walks just to get out of the house during the day and he loves hearing you talk more than ever now
You’ve always yapped at him but there’s something different about it now
When you two go to an event Azriel loves introducing you as his wife
And you love telling people ‘oh, my husband is looking for me. Excuse me’ or ‘my husband loves that’ or ‘my husband is the same way’
You swear you fell more in love with each other ever since you got married
A/n: sorry it’s been forever since I added to this little series. I think this is my favorite story I’ve written for mob!Az so far and I’m really proud of how it turned out!
Warnings: possessive Az, uncomfortable interactions with a man
Twirling once more in front of the floor length mirror you smile, your signature mini black dress hugging every curve perfectly. You pull your lipstick from your mini purse to touch up the darker shade that paints your lips. You decided to go with a clean simple look for the night. You were probably going to sweat it all off later anyway, but you still wanted to look cute for Az.
You were finally going to the club in Velaris Azriel just bought ownership in with Eris Vanserra. A new business deal between the two families. If you had tried to go to this place with Feyre and Mor before you started dating Az you would’ve been turned away at the door, but tonight you’re V.I.P’s. Not that you three ever cared about that stuff before. Just one of the few perks you get.
Azriel exited the lengthy walk-in closet you now share, sliding his usual black suit jacket on. The top buttons of his crisp white shirt undone, showing off his swirling tattoos. Popping your lips and capping the lipstick you turn to face Az, giving him a small smile. He returned your look with a smirk that conveyed his admiration and want for you.
Striding over to you Azriel holds your chin between his beautifully scarred fingers. His eyes dart over your face as they always do. Like he’s committing every part of you to his memory. “Breathtaking. You look breathtakingly beautiful as always, my love.” Azriel says softly. You smile brightly at him. Taking his other hand in yours you give it a loving squeeze. Running your thumb over the ridges of his scars.
“You look breathtakingly handsome as well, baby.” Azriel smiled bashfully, dipping his head to prevent you from seeing his obvious blush. Resting a hand against his strong chest, pushing up on your tiptoes you press a kiss to his freshly shaven jaw. You hold your lips against his skin longer than you normally would, taking in his scent and the feel of his soft skin.
Pulling away you make sure to check that you left behind a lipstick stain. Marking him as yours as he’s done for you on a o many nights. Azriel’s smile hasn’t left his lips, the want gone from his eyes and replaced with pure, unfiltered love. Without hesitating he grabs your hand, intertwining your fingers. “Let’s go,” his voice airy as he pulls you out of the bedroom.
Entering the club you couldn’t help but be in awe of it. The place was nothing like the shitty college bars the three of you went to. The music was appropriately loud, a V.I.P section, a bar stocked with expensive liquor bottles with names you’ve never even heard of before. The lighting perfectly dim, bright enough to navigate your way through the crowd.
Azriel pulls you towards the V.I.P section. Climbing the platform you spot Mor and Feyre with Rhys already enjoying bottle service and a comically large plate of nachos. You notice Rhys giving Azriel a tight lipped look, like he’s not happy to give Azriel the news he’s about to deliver. Azriel slips his hand from yours, kissing your temple. “Go sit love, I’ll be right there.” He whispers.
Without another thought you throw yourself onto the booth between your friends. You start a mindless conversation, Feyre bitching and making fun of how Gavin has been acting since you left. Cassian joins you, coming in from parking the car. Feyre eyes his muscular figure. You know she’s been taken with Cass since the day he picked you up for your first date with Az. And you’ve been trying to push them together for months now, tired of the obvious flirting.
“Hello ladies,” he says seductively, “where are my brothers?” He asks, taking Feyre’s glass from her to take a swig of her drink. She lets out a dramatic gasp, reaching for her drink back. “Over there,” she giggles as Cass pokes at her.
The four of you look over to find the two having an animated conversation. You could tell Azriel was tense from the way he kept rolling his neck. Az made his way over to you, pressing a kiss to your cheek, whispering, “I need to take care of some business with Eris. I’ll be back before you know it.” When he pulls back you give him a small smile and nod. He turns and Rhys follows. Cassian gives him a nod, knowing what his duties are while Azriel is away.
Cassian stood, hands clasped in front of him with that stoic ‘don’t you dare fuck with me look’. The fun, carefree boy gone. You loved pushing Cass and Rhys’s buttons when they’re acting as your bodyguards. Hiding from them in department stores, pretending to run from them. Tonight, however, was not the night for your shenanigans. Cass would never risk the girls and neither would you.
For a little over half an hour you, Mor, and Feyre enjoyed drinks and endless nachos and chicken fingers. Cassian, with his hawk like gaze, notices you looking for your waitress. “What do you want?” He asks, holding his hand out to keep you seated. You smile at his overprotective nature. “Just another drink,” you shake your empty glass at him, clinking the ice.
”I’ll get it for you.” Cassian says, desperate for you to stay put. You give him an exasperated look, “I’m a big girl, Cass. I can get it.” Before he can protest you head over to the bar for the V.I.P section.
Ordering your drink you check the time on your phone. It’s been almost an hour. Eris has never dragged a meeting on this long, even if it was urgent. Letting out a sigh you lean on the bar, tapping your manicured nails on beat with the music pulsing through the club.
A throat clearing sounds next to you, making your shoulders tense like Azriel’s when he receives unpleasant news. With lowered brows you turn to face the source of the grating noise. A man, of course, in a wrinkled button up shirt and dress pants that clearly aren’t tailored. His proximity and scent of his cologne making your nose wrinkle.
“Can I help you?” Your voice flat and uninterested. The man smirked as he leaned on the bar next to you. “Just thought I’d come say hi. I saw you with your pretty friends over there, maybe you’d like to join us.” He gestures to a booth behind yours. No drinks, so they must’ve just arrived. Being with Azriel has taught you be very perceptive of people and your surroundings. Not that your boyfriend was paranoid, he just wanted you to be able to spot danger.
You roll your eyes you look back at the man in front of you. “No thanks.” You say curtly, no longer interested in entertaining this man's delusions.
His eyes roam over your body, one of his brows rising as he smirks. The look made you want to vomit on his cheap shoes. “Come on now sweetheart,” he brushes a finger down your cheek and you quickly take two steps back, his touch slimy and foreign. His demeanor changes quickly, anger flashing across his face as he steps toward you. No must be a word he never hears, whether that be his selective hearing or not.
Out of the corner of your eye a dark mass moves with lightning speed. Gripping the man's arm Azriel twists and pins him to the sleek wooden bar. The man lets out a whimper of pain. Pathetic.
“Do you know who I am?” He growled. “Answer me,” Azriel said with more aggression, shoving the man further into the bar. “Yes,” his voice barely above a whisper thanks to how squished his face is.
“Then you know I protect what’s mine. If I ever see you in my club again you will regret it. Get out.” Azriel let go and Rhys swooped in, guiding the man and his friends to the exit before a fight could break out.
You fling yourself into Azriel’s arms, shaken by what just happened and the what ifs had Azriel not shown up. He ran a gentle hand up and down your spine, holding you tightly to his body. “It’s alright, my love. I’ve got you, I’ve got you.” He coos. Taking a deep inhale of his comforting, warm scent you look up at him.
“Are you alright?” He asks, worry clouding his warm hazel eyes as he takes you in. Searching his memory of you from earlier that night to make sure nothing was out of place. “I’m ok. My dark knight came to the rescue.” A genuine smile pulling at your lips as your fear melts away. The comfort of Azriel’s familiar touch washing away the memory of the unnamed man.
“Do you want to go home? I can have Cass bring the car-’’ You press your finger to his lips to stop him. “Absolutely not. I haven’t danced with you yet and we’re having fun. I’m not going to let some asshole ruin what’s supposed to be a celebration tonight.” The guilt for not being glued to your side hasn’t left Azriel’s face yet. “I promise my dear, I am fine.”
Azriel finally relaxed, pressing his forehead against yours. “I’m sorry Eris kept me for so long. I’m yours for the rest of the night, I swear it, my love.” Azriel slowly kisses you. Wrapping his arm around you Az leads you back to the booth.
Sitting, he pulls you on to his lap, trapping you with his arms as he kisses and bites at your jawline. Making sure he’s marked you appropriately, the twin to your still vibrant lipstick stain decorating his tan skin.
Note: another day another Mob!Az fic for you all to think about teehee.
Warnings: mentions of violence and blood
You giggled as Azriel lightly nipped at your cheek, his hand trying to sneak into the bowl of cookie dough. “Az,” you laugh out, smacking his hand away. “You can have some later when the rest of the Boy Scouts show up.”
Azriel rolls his eyes at the nickname. “I’ve told you, we are not Boy Scouts, we are-”
“A highly trained and dangerous group of powerful families that are allied.” You say, mimicking the overused statement. “Yes, yes I know Azzy, geez.” You tease, bumping him with your hip.
Moving from his grasp you bustle around the kitchen grabbing ingredients and plates. Azriel’s kitchen was gorgeous, and criminally under utilized. When you moved in it was all black and white, barely any ingredients or extra appliances.
“Oh this won’t do.” You had told Azriel, demanding you go shopping for every and anything you’d ever need for a kitchen. You gave the place a complete makeover, painting the walls and cabinets a lovely sage green and replacing the countertops. Adding an island and dark wood table and cushions to the breakfast nook the room was complete.
Coming back to stand between Azriel and the island you start scooping out the cookies. “You really don’t have to do this, you know.” You shrug, a generous scoop of dough and chocolate chips falling from your spoon. “I want to. Plus, I never really got to bake since work took up too much time. And your meetings go on forever, you guys absolutely need snacks.”
Leaning down Azriel presses a kiss to the back of your head. “You’re amazing, my love.” He says softly. You lean back into his chest, tilting your head back to stare at his pretty face. Turning, you hold up a finger with dough on it. Azriel’s eyes light up at the treat, licking it from your finger. Pushing up on your toes you peck his lips, murmuring, “I love you.”
Before Azriel could pull you to him and go for a more heated kiss, Rhys walks in, clearing his throat. “They’re here Az.” He nods at his brother, signaling Rhys’s dismissal.
A heavy sigh leaves his nose. Holding your face, Azriel gives you one last kiss. “I’ll see you in a bit.”
An hour later you were balancing a tea tray laden with chocolate chip cookies in your hands. The guard at the door smiles at you, knocking and opening one of the double doors for you. You nod in thanks as you quietly make your way to the occupied half of the table.
It was a small group today. Only Helion, Eris, Kal and their second and third in commands, along with a few other key members of their organizations. Reaching between Helion and Rhysand, you gently place the tray in the middle of the table.
The men looked hesitant to reach for the snack at first, but also didn’t want to be rude. “Thank you, my love.” Azriel says, giving you a small smile from his place at the head of the table. “Of course,” you whisper.
Azriel leads the conversation back to their plans, “Now, we can’t stand for this. The Molina family made us look like fools and trust me gentleman, that will not happen again. This robbery has to be big.” Odd, you thought to yourself, Azriel’s MO isn’t home robberies.
The pictures of the mansion in question spread across the table caught your eye. It’s familiarity had you titling your head, wracking your brain for where you’d seen it before.
then it hit you. The paintings on the wall! You knew them because you delivered them! Your lips parted slightly in surprise at your memory.
You felt Helion’s attention on you as he asked, “What’s wrong?” Your eyes snap to his deep brown ones, cheeks tinting red in embarrassment. Azriel takes his tone as rude but you brush it off, knowing he’s just curious about what you’re seeing.
You look to Azriel, not knowing if you have the right to give your input in a meeting. You didn’t want to make Azriel seem less in charge or something.
Azriel gives you a soft, encouraging look. “Go ahead, y/n. Tell us what you see.” You nod at him, dragging the picture of the paintings toward you. “These paintings are fakes.” A confusion spreads over the room as a few huh’s sound around the table.
“My boss got his hands on the real ones somehow, these are like rare pieces, hell museums would kill for these. Before he sold them I honestly thought they were in the Louvre. But he sold them to Molina Jr. who also requested fakes to display, since he bragged so much about buying them. They aren’t very good fakes if you ask me though.”
Helion brought the image closer to his face, attempting his untrained eye to see the falsity of the paintings. Kal snatched it from him, giving him a you-don’t-know-shit-about-art look.
Conversation bubbles around Azriel but all he can focus on is you. You and your beautiful, passionate, intelligent mind.
“Where would he keep the real ones?” Eris asks, breaking up the conversations and Azriel’s concentration on you. Though that didn’t last long. As soon as you opened your mouth Azriel was laser focused on you.
You give Eris a knowing smirk, “His vault, where I helped deliver the paintings.” Cassian and Kal let out laughs or triumph as the others gave you approving looks. Rhysand unrolls the blueprints to the mansion in front of you. “Alright y/n, point us in the right direction.”
Two hours later the heist was planned perfectly thanks to you. You waited in Azriel’s office as he bid his guests goodbye. Kicked back, sitting in his kingly leather chair, your feet propped up on the desk.
Hearing the door click shut you perk up. Azriel grins, strutting over to you. Crossing his arms he leans against the desk in front of you. “I don’t think I could’ve planned that without you.” You shrug at the praise. “Eh, you would’ve gotten by.”
Azriel nudges your feet off the polished wood, chuckling at you. Lifting you up and pulling you into his lap you immediately lean against his chest, playing with the buttons on his shirt.
“You’re too modest, my love. Everyone was telling me how brilliant you are.” You giggle, burying your face deeper into Azriel’s chest at the compliment. Hooking his fingers under your chin, Az tilts your face up to meet his shimmering hazel gaze.
“My clever girl.” He hums, pressing his lips to yours. You slip your arms around his neck pulling him closer. Azriel stands, gently placing you on his desk. He nudges your thighs apart to stand between your legs, deepening the kiss. “I think you deserve a reward,” his voice had taken on a deep and seductive tone. That smirk promises a very pleasurable reward. Tugging on Azriel’s dark locks he pulls away from you, dropping to his knees.
——
Tonight is the big heist. When Azriel had kissed you goodbye you plastered a convincing smile on your face, trying to ignore your heart pounding so hard against your chest you thought it was trying to escape.
You were always nervous when Azriel went out with his men for a job. Pacing the TV room, more like a theater, you dug your toes into the carpet to focus on something other than Azriel. You had lots to keep you distracted like a book, your favorite show cued up, your phone. However, moving around was a necessity right this very second.
The first time Azriel went on a job after you moved in was a disaster. You had a panic attack so bad not even Baxian, your bodyguard, could calm you down. Baxian was on the verge of calling Azriel as he walked through the front door. It made him contemplate never leaving you again.
You still can’t decide if you’d rather Az not tell you and just be blissfully ignorant. Or if you would still worry if he was out until all hours of the night. You’d probably still worry but worse.
In the silence you paused at any creaking or popping that sounded in the house. About to settle on the couch to pick an activity, the unmistakable sound of the front door opening.
Staring at the doorway to the TV room you held your breath. You didn’t want to see Azriel if he was hurt. You didn’t think you could stomach the sight of his blood.
Footsteps grew louder and louder until Azriel was staring at you. He was unscathed. Safe. And home.
You let out a cry of relief, running into his open arms. Azriel pulls you flush to his body, tucking your head under his chin. You revel in his warm touch. A smile spreads across your lips at having him back home.
Pulling away, you stare up into his tired eyes. “Everything went ok?” You ask softly. Azriel nods, pressing a kiss to your forehead. “It went perfectly, all thanks to you my love.” He says, exhaustion lacing his voice.
“Come on you,” you squeeze him around the middle. “Let’s get you to bed, baby.” You move to his side, pulling him along. “Sounds perfect, my love.”
Tucking into bed you couldn’t shake this feeling in the pit of your stomach. Watching Az sleep peacefully you snuggle into his side, holding on to him. Just in case.
A/n: I reread @thehighladywrites professor Eris series and it inspired this lil mob Az blurb. Ruhn week day 1 post will be out later today, love you guys 💕
Warnings: guns, cold medicine
Cracking your eyes open, the sting of dryness made you blink rapidly. The coolness of the bed and room made your runny nose worse along with your cough. Your chest constricted, that dry cough ripping at your throat.
You reached for Azriel, desperate to absorb his warmth to stop your shivering. Touching the cold sheets on his side of the massive bed your hand shakes.
Wiping the sleep from your eyes you see the digital clock on Az’s nightstand blares two in the morning in red numbers. Letting out a groan you pull the covers tight around your shoulders. You swear he was here when you fell asleep, maybe it was a fever dream? You were still fending off a one hundred degree fever so it’s entirely possible.
Azriel was probably working, like he always was. It never bothered you unless you truly needed him like right now. There was only one thing to do now. Make your boyfriend feel guilty by wearing your cutest tired pout and wrapping yourself in a fluff blanket.
Doing exactly that (wearing your extra fluffy slippers for good measure) you head downstairs to Az’s office.
You heard arguing through the cracked door, making you second guess your decision to interrupt Azriel’s work. But, you already walked all the way down here, so there was no turning back now.
Padding over to the door you peek through the opening to assess what you were about to interrupt. Azriel was fully dressed with Rhysand and Cassian flanking him, along with a few other ‘employees’. They all faced someone you couldn’t see. A man, clearly begging for his life, vehemently insisting he did not have the information Azriel was seeking.
You should leave. This isn’t something Azriel would want you near.
But he was right there. And you were desperate for him to comfort you.
The interrogation continued as you stayed hidden behind the oak double doors, your thoughts still warring on whether to stay or leave. As one of Azriel’s men hands him his gun, your body makes the decision for you, of all things a sneeze gives you away. A small squeak coming from you as you try to hold it in. Everyone in the office freezes, shocked by the little noise. Azriel shoves the gun into Cassian’s chest, making his way to doors, his demeanor completely changing into the loving, caring Azriel you know. Pulling the door open lightly you stare up innocently at your boyfriend. Azriel’s concerned face staring back at you, “Sweetheart, what’s wrong? Were you sick again?” His tone was soft and worried. You step to move into him but Azriel forces you back a little, confirming that he didn’t want you to see whatever was unfolding in his office.
You shake your head, “No, I just woke up cold and needed you.” Azriel lets out a sympathetic hum, pressing his lips to your forehead. You felt his frown at your still too warm temperature and your trembling shoulders under his arms.
Turning to his men Azriel orders them to finish working. Scooping you into his arms, Az makes sure to angle you to not see inside. Mother above, if must be gruesome in there.
On the way back to your bedroom Azriel whispers calming words to you, “I’m sorry I wasn’t there when you woke up, my love. I thought the medicine would keep you asleep. We’ll get you some more before you go back to sleep.” He punctuates each sentence with a soft kiss to your temple.
Placing you on the bed with all the care in the world, Azriel slips the blanket from your shoulders, draping it over the end of the bed. Getting another pill from the bathroom he places it on your tongue, holding a glass of water to your lips as you take small sips.
Taking his suit off for the second time that night, leaving him in a pair of black boxers, Azriel climbs into bed pulling you close to his chest. You immediately feel relaxed. Your arms feel heavy as you wrap them around Azriel’s shoulder, sleep creeping back into your body thanks to the meds. “Thank you Azzy, love you s’much.” You babble.
“I love you more, sweetheart. Rest now, I promise I’ll be here when you wake up.” His focus is fully on you now. His work downstairs is long forgotten.
