Ch. 7
17 years old
You paced back and forth in your bathroom. Bucky sat at the edge of the bathtub, his leg bouncing as he watched you. The wait was pure agonizing torture. After a few minutes the timer you had set went off. The answer you were waiting for would be the best news or the worst. You pick up the little white stick with a pink lid and read the result, sighing in relief.
“What does it say?” Bucky asked, still unmoving from his spot.
“It’s negative.”
You showed him the pregnancy test and he frowns slightly. His reaction causes you to frown on return. He pulls you closer so that you’re standing in between his legs. His arms wrap around your hips.
“Did you want to have a baby now?” You ask in a whisper. “We’re still in school.”
“Now or in five or ten years or fifteen years, it doesn’t matter. As long as you’re the mother of my children.”
He smiles up at you, that sweet boyish smile you love and you can’t help but run your hand through his unruly hair.
“What if we’re not together by that time? Or we stop loving each other?”
He pulls back and looks you dead in the eye, his expression serious. “The day I stop loving you is the day I die. Even then I’d come back as a ghost to haunt you with my love.”
“You weirdo.” You laugh at the last part.
“I can live with that as long as you promise to love me back, and marry me when the time is right and have my children.”
“Only you Barnes, only you.” You smile brightly down at him before you connect your lips with his.
“You got her pregnant?!” Bucky hears behind him. He turns in his chair to see Becca walking into his living room and right towards him with a scowl on her face.
It was too early for this. To have this talk or fight. His head was still pounding from the horrible hangover he acquired, which takes a lot of alcohol considering he isn’t a lightweight.
“Answer me, James.”
“No.” He says quietly at first. “I don’t think so— maybe.”
When Becca stands in front of her older brother she can see the red rimmed and puffy eyes. There were dark bags under said eyes, his hair was disheveled as if he ran his hand through it multiple times. It’s obvious Bucky hasn’t slept or eaten anything since Dot announced the pregnancy and that had only been a few hours ago. But it was your face that kept showing up anytime he closed his eyes.
“Why would you even sleep with her? I thought you hated her guts.”
“Becca please, I can’t do this now. How did you even find out?”
“She’s been at home for the last hour talk-“
“It’s like 8:00 am.”
“Anyways, I came here because she was talking to dad. Dot is trying to convince him to make you move up the wedding since she doesn’t want to look pregnant in her wedding dress.”
Bucky’s eyes snap up to look at his sister.
“Fuck,” he throws the glass he had in his hand against the window. “Let’s go now. I’m not moving that wedding up.”
“You should shower and change first, you smell like a cheap bar.”
“Fine.” Bucky growls before stomping away toward his room.
****
Once he’s freshly showered and dressed Bucky heads back downstairs. There’s a whispered conversation going on between Steve and Becca. They both turn to look at him once he makes his presence known. Steve’s expression is more grim than Becca’s.
“What did she say?”
Steve opens his mouth but closes it again. He smooths his beard as he tries to think of the easiest way to say what you had told him.
“Will you just spit it out?”
“She told me to tell you to leave her the fuck alone and that you should be focusing on your future wife and child.”
Bucky curses under his breath.
“I’ll deal with dad first, let's go.”
Not much had changed in the old restaurant Pierce had brought you to. It was his usual spot even when you were a kid. The waitstaff still feared him, his men were still posted at every entryway. He still sat at the same table, with his back to the wall leaving you to sit with your back to a huge window. Sometimes you thought of just sending Cougar to take him out from a few rooftops away but that would take the fun out of everything. And if one thing was certain it was that you wanted to watch Pierce realize he’d lost. For now you indulge this little power trip of his.
“You know I gave up on looking for you about three years ago. You were in the clear, you could have kept living your life. So I don’t understand why you would do something so stupid like come back?” He looked at you over his coffee.
“You’re too old to be acting this stupid Pierce. You know why I’m back.”
“Watch your fucking attitude with me, princess.” He slammed his hand on the table, causing all the cutlery and plates to clang against each other.
“Tsk, tsk, tsk. My, my someone is testy this morning. What’s wrong Pierce, did your prune juice not work for you?”
“I’m going to give you one day,” he held up one finger as he glared at you. “To pack your shit along with those good for nothing goons you brought with you, and get out of town. After that I won’t be responsible for my actions.”
“Is that supposed to scare me? Come on, you know better than that.” You shifted in your seat and sat up straighter. “I’m only going to tell you this once, I’m here to take back everything you stole from me. There is no negotiating, I will leave you with nothing and when we get to the end and you’re begging me to just end you, I will take pleasure in keeping you on the brink of death until I see fit.”
Pierce laughed and when he stopped he had a smug smile on his lips.
“Was that supposed to scare me?” He mocks. “I’ve taught you everything you know, I’ll always be ahead of you. There’s not a move you can make that I won’t know about and I will make your existence so miserable you’ll be the one begging for your life to end.” He takes another sip of his coffee. “I could have had you killed the minute you stepped into my city but as a courtesy I wanted to have this sit down. I’ll only warn you once. The minute you step out of that door you have 24 hours to leave. If not, get ready for war.”
You smile at him before lifting your hand and signaling for someone or something. The window cracks and splinters, a bullet flies by your and Pierce’s head imbedding itself in the wall behind him. Before he or his bodyguards have time to react you’ve already gotten up from your seat. You grab Pierce by the back of his neck and slam his head against the table. The gun Rosie had given you just that morning is in your hand and pressed against his temple. “Tell them to back off.” You instruct Pierce as his men point their guns at you. “Now!”
“Do it, put your guns down and back off.”
You lean in “I’ve been ready for war for ten years. You should have killed me when you had the chance. If you think you can intimidate me with your old school bullshit, you’ve got another thing coming. That was the only warning shot you get, next time my guy won’t miss.” You push his head against the table once again before standing up straight. The gun you brandished was now pointed at the other men.
“Where did you get that gun?” He asked, sounding a bit panicked and surprised.
“Why do you care?”
“That was your mother’s gun.” He said through heavy breaths. “She was supposed to have it the night she died but it wasn’t in the car.”
The comment confuses you, how would he know if it was or wasn’t in the car.
“Don’t worry, I’ll make sure this is the gun I use when I kill you.” You snap before walking out of the restaurant.
Jake was waiting in a car just outside for you. You get in and he barely waits for the door to close before pulling away. He’s fuming, you can tell by the way the veins in his neck are about to pop out.
“Can you tell me what the fuck that was about?” Jake says through gritted teeth. He’s gripping the steering wheel so hard his knuckles are white. “What were you fucking thinking? He could have killed you.”
“He wasn’t going to. Pierce likes his little cat and mouse game. He has a strict set of rules he likes to follow, he never deviates from it. You know this.”
“That’s not the damn point.” he practically yells at you.
“Watch your tone with me Jensen. I’m your fucking boss, I make the calls not you.”
“And I’m not some low level pusher. I’m your right hand and I’ll call you out when I have to. Listen I get you’re upset about the Barnes thing, but that’s not an excuse to be so damn reckless.” His voice softens a little.
“Stop the car.”
“What?”
“I said stop the fucking car.” You snap and he does as you ask. “You have more important things to do, get to ‘em.” You say as you get out of the car and slam the door shut.
He drives away while you stand there. You take a deep breath and you wish you could smash someone’s head in.
“Fuck.” You mutter as you walk down the sidewalk.
“Oh my gosh, what happened to the window baby?”
“What the fuck are you doing here Dot?” Pierce glared at the bubbly blonde from his seat at the table.
“Well I wanted to see you and you weren’t at your office. The plan worked, James and Y/N think the baby is his.”
Dot gets closer to the older man and inspects his face. She gasps as she sees the red splotches on his face from where you slammed his head against the table.
“Who did this?” She tried to caress his cheek.
Pierce grabbed her wrist and pulled it away from him.
“Ow, Alex you’re hurting me.”
“Are you fucking stupid? Did the bleach finally seep into your brain and ate away at your common sense? Y/N could have seen you. It could have ruined everything.”
“But I just wanted to see you. I’ve missed you and I know the baby misses his daddy.”
“You missed me?” Pierce’s hand connected with Dot’s face. The sound like thunder in the otherwise quiet room. “If you ever do anything stupid like showing up here I will kill you myself, understood?”
Dot tries to wipe the tears away and nods.
“Oh baby, I’m sorry. I didn’t want to do that but sometimes you just make me so angry. Come here.” Pierce pulls Dot into a hug. “Now do me a favor. Get on your phone and call Rumlow and tell him to meet me here. Can you do that?”
“Brock is already outside. I’ll just tell him to come in.”
“Why don’t you do that and go home. We can’t risk our plan falling apart now can we?”
“No sir.” Dot walks out of the dining area and gets Brock before leaving.
“You wanted to see me?”
“If you ever let your sister near this area again, I will end you.” Pierce glared at the younger man.
“Understood. Anything else?”
“I gave Y/N 24 hours to leave. Burn down one of her warehouses tomorrow.”
“You think she won’t leave?”
“Of course not. I taught her better than that. The offer was just a formality. Now go keep an eye on her place. I want to know what happens.”
“You got it.”
Bucky walked into his family home ready to tear his father apart if he tried to have the wedding moved up. Dot was already gone by the time he arrived which was good because he would have strangled her. He said a quick hello to his mother and walked right into his father’s study. The older man glared at him, George Barnes hated being interrupted in the middle of what seemed like a meeting. This would have earned Bucky a beating but not anymore. Honestly Bucky would like to see his father try and swing at him.
“You know the rules, boy. I’m working and don’t just walk in here when I’m in a meeting.” George growls.
“This meeting is on hold,” Bucky looked down at the man in his father’s office. “Donny take a break.”
Donny looked between the two men and got up to quickly exit the room. He was more afraid of Bucky than he was of George. Bucky had earned a certain reputation over the last ten years that his father could never have.
“If you ever disrespect me-“
Bucky held his hand up to stop his father from going on and on about all the things he would do.
“I don’t have time for this, I know you know about Dot being pregnant. I’m pretty sure that kid isn’t mine so I’m not moving up the wedding. If I find out who the real father is, the wedding and the engagement are off. I’m not going to negotiate any other contract with you. If it turns out that I’m right you’re keeping up the end of our deal.”
“You think you can make demands? This is my business. I say what will and won’t happen. I give the orders and who does what. You’re nothing more than an ungrateful brat. And don’t think that your sister won’t get what’s coming to her for running to you this morning.”
Metal hits wood, a huge indent forms on the dark wooden desk. Cracks shoot out in different directions, effectively breaking the desk.
“You haven’t done shit for this business in years. I’ve been doing all the work, so what I say goes because I’m tired of your fucking bullshit. You don’t even know what’s going on outside these walls, the threats I’ve ended so that we can continue to operate in this city. From now on you will report to me. And if I find out that you put a finger on Becca I will make sure your death is slow and painful. Because trust me I’ve thought of it many, many times already.” Bucky sneered.
“Yeah, if you’re so tough then why haven’t you done anything about it?”
“Because of ma. Maybe you oughta be more grateful I haven’t gotten rid of you yet.” With that Bucky walks out.
He doesn’t care what his father has to say or think anymore. There were more important things in his life and if he really wanted to keep the business going there were more than enough men that were loyal to him. Bucky finds Donny, one of his father’s trusted men. One that had slowly started to gain more respect and fear of Bucky. Bucky instructed him to let the others know he was now in full command of the Barnes family and their businesses. Everyone reported to him and if someone didn’t like it they’d be eliminated.
Now all Bucky had to do was find a way to talk to you.
You got out of the cab you had flagged down after your disagreement with Jake. The familiar brownstone stood in front of you in all its glory. It reminded you of many childhood memories, both good and bad. You only have to wait a minute after knocking. The door flies open to reveal Joseph Rogers.
“Little otter I didn’t know you were coming over today.” He greets you happily. “Come in, Sarah will be so happy to see you.”
You give him a half smile as you walk in and head toward the kitchen where Joseph told you Sarah was. The older woman turned and her face lit up when she saw you walk in. She quickly wrapped you up in a hug. It took everything in you to not break down and cry. You were all raw emotions and doubt. So many questions swimming in your head.
“Well what brings you by today? I heard the club had its grand opening last night. How did that go?”
“It was successful in all the ways that mattered.”
Sarah looked over at her husband with worry as she placed a cup of coffee in front of you.
“What is that supposed to mean?”
“Just that it did what it was supposed to. I have business deals starting up and I’m meeting with some local business owners in the next few days that are on Pierce territory. They want out from under him and I’m willing to provide the protection. Pierce even had the nerve to show up at my parents' graves this morning. He gave me a day to leave or he wouldn’t be responsible for his actions.”
“That piece of shit. Your father should have gotten rid of him when he had the chance.” Joseph says.
“Can I ask you something?”
“Anything otter.”
You pull out your mother’s gun and place it on the table.
“Hey, no guns on the table.”
“Sorry Sarah.” You smile at her before turning to Joseph. “Rosie gave it to me this morning. She said mom gave it to you to fix and you returned it but my parents had already left that night. I pulled this gun on Pierce and he was surprised to see it. He said that it was supposed to be in the car that night but it wasn’t. Do you know why he would care about it?”
Again Sarah and Joseph look at each other. The latter gave his wife a single nod.
“There’s something you need to know, Y/N.” Sarah said as she gently placed a hand over yours. “Before your mother was the head of her family and before your parents even met, your mom and Pierce dated. He was very much in love with her. Maybe he wanted to keep the gun to remember her?”
You stare at Sarah with nothing but pure shock and disbelief on your face. The nervous habit of playing with the locket that belonged to your mother brought you a little bit of comfort.
“Did my father know?”
“He was aware of Pierce’s feelings for her but I don't know if he was aware of their relationship.” Sarah tells you as she eyes the necklace. “You know your mother had a locket just like that.”
“This was her locket.”
“Oh, I didn’t know you had it. She never took it off.”
Something about this didn’t feel right. The new information about your mother’s past relationship with Pierce made you question some things from your past.
“I should go. Thank you for everything.” You say as you stand and place the gun back in its holster.
“You don’t have to thank us. Just make sure you come around when you can little otter.”
You hugged them both and walked out. Cougar was leaning against the car you had used to drive to the cemetery. He tipped his hat in the direction of the Rogers and opened the door for you.
“Where to, boss?” He asks after getting into the driver's side.
“Wherever Jake is.”
Jake was typing furiously. It’s like he was punishing the keyboard for the argument between the two of you. He heard the door to his office open but ignored it, there were more important things to deal with. Until a little plastic T-Rex was placed on his desk. The corner of his lip ticks upward. Little plastic dinosaurs had always been how you apologized. There was no rhyme or reason to it. The tradition started when you were little and it stuck. You both had a small collection and you would trade them back and forth.
“I’m sorry about how I reacted this morning. You had every right to call me out. It’s one of the reasons I trust you so much.” You say quietly.
Cerulean eyes framed in circular glasses meet yours. They hold no real anger in them. It always made you wonder how Jake could be so kind but so cruel when needed.
“I was out of line too. I just freaked out when Cougar called me and told me what was happening. I’ve seen you go through too much for it to be over so quickly. So what did he want?”
“He’s giving us 24 hours to leave New York or he won’t be responsible for his actions.”
“Like he’ll be able to do any real damage.” Jake rolls his eyes and turns back to his computer. “Good job on placing that mic though. It took a few minutes but I have it up and running now. It seems like that’s where he likes to do business. Or at least some of it. They have cameras but no audio. I hacked in so that we have visuals and with our mic we have the audio we need for our back up plan. I also thought that if we could offer better deals people would agree to do deals with us instead.”
“This is why you’re my right hand JJ.” You clear your throat. “I need to ask you something. Do you remember when I asked you to look into my mom?”
He stops his typing and turns to look at you again. “Yeah.”
“What did you find?”
Jake pushes off the ground sending his computer chair gliding through his office at the club. He stops himself in front of a cabinet and rifles through until he finds what he’s looking for. Jake pulls out a thick folder. He then moves back to his desk and sets it down.
“This is all I have. It includes those offshore accounts she had made in your name that I found a few years back.”
“Is there anything in here about her death? Any crime scene photos or anything?”
“No, it seems like the police department is behind on digitizing their cold cases. Why?”
“I just found out some very interesting information and I wanted to see what the police found.”
“I’ll find a way to get my hands on it as soon as possible.” Jake stands and opens his arms offering a hug, which you accept.
“Thanks JJ, I don’t know what I’d do without you.”
“Let’s never find out.”
You massage your temples after rereading the information Jake had given you. The music tonight annoys you and you consider going home for the night. There’s no real need to be here and Clay can look over the club. You sigh as you grab the drink you had poured for yourself and finish it off. Sinking into your office chair you close your eyes and think about what’s happened in the last 24 hours.
How bucky had his way with you on your desk and left you floating on cloud nine only to be pulled back down to reality just minutes later. You still couldn’t understand the whole issue he had with this supposed contract. Now it really didn’t matter, Bucky was going to get married and be a father. Two things you’d thought you’d experience together.
The door opens and you’re surprised to hear the soft click of the handle as it closes again. But you’re not in the mood to deal with anyone so you don’t bother to open your eyes.
“Whatever the issue is, Clay can deal with it. Go bother him and leave me alone. I’m going home anyways.”
“Good, let me take you that way we can talk.”
You sighed as you slowly opened your eyes to find Bucky walking towards your desk. He looked like he hadn’t slept in days. There were dark circles under his eyes and he just looked hung over. You tilt your head slightly, taking in his form from head to toe.
“No.”
“Just let me explain, bug.” He said as he stopped in front of your desk. Seeing Bucky standing there brought back the memories from the night before. You suppress the shiver that wants to run down your back.
“You had your chance to tell me the truth and you didn’t. That’s your problem not mine.”
“What? When was I supposed to tell you she was pregnant? I didn’t even know.”
You stand up and put some space between the two of you. This is the last thing you wanted to do right now. It hurt so much, just the thought of Dot having the one person you loved the most.
“I asked you if you loved her and you said you couldn’t even stand to be in the same room with her. You could have told me then. Did you sleep with her?” You look up at him.
He pokes the inside of his cheek with his tongue and drags it down. Bucky did that when he was trying to find a way to say something he didn’t want to.
“It’s not what you think.”
“Get out.”
“No,” Bucky moves and walks towards you. He’s determined to get you to listen to him. Bucky puts an arm around your waist as you try to walk away from him and pulls you back until you're against a wall. He cages you in, his body pressed into yours and you can smell the alcohol he must’ve drowned himself in. “I’m not going to lose you again. So you’re going to listen to me until I’m done.” He says through gritted teeth, he’s so close his breath hits your cheek.
“If you actually fucking cared you’d give me my space. But obviously you don't, so I want you out of my club before I have you removed.”
“Call them in, have all of your people come in here and try to take me away from you. It ain’t gonna happen. Dot was a fucking mistake, I only slept with her once. I was drunk and I don’t even remember finishing. I wouldn’t be surprised if that kid wasn’t even mine. So please, don’t push me away.”
“You don’t fucking get it do you? It’s not just about the baby. I asked you and you didn’t tell me the truth.” You manage to get away from him and put some distance between the two of you. There was that familiar sting in your eyes of tears threatening to spill. You couldn’t allow them to reveal how much the situation hurt you. “I’m not naive, I couldn’t expect you to not move on or not sleep around, I did.”
Bucky’s jaw clenched at the admission. The thought of someone else holding you like he did angered him beyond belief. Even if he had slept around, none of them were you. He would kick them out of his apartment as soon as he was done, he didn’t care if they were satisfied. They were just a means to an end.
“Y/N, It’s not like that. I promise-“
“Instead of making promises to me you should be making them to your fiancée and your unborn baby. And I’d be very grateful if you’d stay on your territory, taking care of your business and not here. I have more important things to worry about.” You say as you turn and stare him down.
He scoffs before crossing the room and once again invading your space. His hand comes up and he places a finger under your chin, forcing you to look up at him.
“This isn’t over. I don’t care if it takes another fucking decade for you to believe me.”
“Bucky…”
The door opens revealing Roque and Cougar, effectively stopping the conversation from continuing. They both look at Bucky and then at you, waiting for your command.
“Make sure he leaves and figure out how he got past security. If someone let him in I want to know who it was.” You say without taking your eyes off of Bucky.
Bucky steps away, a slightly defeated look crosses his features before he walks away. Cougar follows him out but Roque stays behind.
“You ok, princess?”
You look up at him. “No but I will be. Do you know if Nebula and Gamora are set up at the warehouses?”
“Yeah, it’s what I came to tell you. They are ready to go and will keep us informed of anything that happens.”
“Good, now come sit I have to go over a few things.”
*******
Cougar silently walks Bucky out through the back of the club. Neither of them say anything until they’re at the door.
“Listen, I’m not going to stop until she believes me. That kid isn’t mine.” Bucky was just desperate.
“I believe you, Barnes.”
Bucky turns to look at him. It felt like a weight was lifted off his shoulders just by having one of your people know the truth.
“But, maybe you should worry about your fiancée more than you do my boss.”
“What is that supposed to mean?”
“Do you know where your fiancée is when she isn’t with you?” Cougar shrugs. “Maybe you should figure out who she hangs out with before you try to get Boss’ attention again. And you’ll have to do better than just sneak in here because next time I’ll just shoot you, and I never miss.” Cougar just nods towards the door, a clear indication for Bucky to leave.
He pushes the door to find Steve leaning against his car. Arms crossed over his chest, he glared at his best friend once he’s close enough.
“I told you she wanted you to fuck off and you show up here anyways?”
“What did you expect me to do, let her think I have any feelings for Dot?” Bucky snaps as he gets into the car.
“You should have given her the space she wanted, she’s dealt with enough today.”
“What happened?”
Steve sighs. “My parents told me she showed up at their place. She had a sit down with Pierce and he gave her twenty four hours to leave or else.”
“That fucker. We should just take him out.”
“If it were that easy we would have done it a long time ago.” Steve replies. “So what should we do?”
Bucky looks over at his friend for a moment and thinks about everything that has happened.
“Take me to the pub.”
“The pub?”
“Yeah, I’ve taken full control of my family’s business and I need people I can trust.”
“To the pub it is. The guys will be excited.”
“I hope so.” Bucky muttered.
If you really had a sit down with Pierce already, the war that was coming was going to get ugly fast. He should know he had been on the receiving end. It’s how he lost his arm. But even with everything going on between the two of you he needed to be ready to protect you. Because if there is one thing you two have in common is the fact that you would kill or die for each other, no matter what.

'You're really not worried.'
Your eyes flicker up from the stack of bills you count in your hand, 'I have nothing to worry about, I was only taking back what was mine.'
He won't see it like that."
'Well that's a shame,' you murmur as you continue to count the stack.
'This is serious,' your consigliere urges, 'he's going to come!'
The stack is slamming against the table, your eyes turned to slits as you look over your advisor, 'so let him come, I've been waiting.'

The yellow orange glow of the morning sun bouncing off of the surface of the river told you you had overstayed your welcome.
The darkness of night shrouded you like a cloak to any potential bypassers. But the sun acted as a spotlight. Making anyone privy to the goings on by the muddy edge of the bank if they so happened to stumble across it.
Bucky and Steve had been sent home a while before dawn. The deed completed within the hour you arrived there. Yet you stayed to clean up whatever mess was left behind. And even longer still. You liked to think it was because you enjoyed watching the sun rise over the city. But deep down you knew it was because you were avoiding going home.
A dismal honk of the first river ferry of daybreak ended your solitude. Jumping off the hood of your car into the mud sodden ground below, you begrudgingly made your way around to the driver's side. The metal handle cold against your palm as you pull the door open. The mud off of the bottoms of your shoes caking the pedals as you settled your feet against them. Another job for another time.
With a deep breath you started the engine and slowly peeled the car away from the water. Never once pressing down hard enough to encourage loud noises. You didn’t want to alert anyone you were here after all.
-
The house was eerily quiet. The hustle and bustle of the morning staff had not yet begun. A prospect you were grateful for. If there was a time when you didn’t have the energy to speak to people, now fit the bill perfectly.
Your keys found their place in the bowl next to the door. A third anniversary gift from Natasha after you repeatedly misplaced the item. She was good like that. Always trying to make you a better person, even with the small task of keeping you organised.
The journey you made through the house took you directly to the laundry room, where you removed your shoes and stripped off your dirty clothes. The quiet gives you a moment to clear your head once more. You really didn’t want any more blood on your hands. Especially after something so trivial. Especially when the cops had only just started to leave you alone.
Last night was a shit show. You would turn back time if you could.
“You didn’t come to bed last night”
A voice from behind you made your stomach lurch. It was instantly recognisable. Yet your heart was beating out of your chest exponentially. Another perk of the job. On edge and always ready to fight.
“I didn’t, you’re right” a tired response was all Natasha received once you calmed down slightly.
“So you come and drag me away from the club, punish me for running off, then you go MIA?”
“Natasha” you turn to face her. “I’ve had a long night and an even longer morning. Can we talk about this later?”
“Later when? After you apologise for being a hypocrite or after you explain why you’ve trapesed mud all over my floors”
“After I get out of the clothes I’ve been in for nearly 24 hours, and wash this shit off me. Can you wait that long?”
“You’ve been gone all night, what’s another couple of hours?”
And with that she turned on her heels and exited the room. Leaving you alone once more.
-
The hot water did nothing to quell the tightness in your chest. Anger still coursed through your body. From nothing in particular. It seemed your natural state was filled with anger these days.
Fuck, you were an idiot.
Once clean, and after what felt like an eternity being pelted by fat streaks of scalding water from above, you finally plucked up the courage to leave the bathroom and find your girlfriend.
To your surprise she was leaning against the door to your walk in closet, seemingly waiting for you to emerge with your tail between your legs. On a second glance you noticed she’d changed out of her negligee and opted for a pair of sweats and an oversized t-shirt. She looked soft and sweet and everything you didn’t deserve.
“You look nice” you complimented as you walked past her, entering the dressing room in search of some clean clothes.
“And you look tired”
“I am, but I’ve got the energy for you”
“Hmm, even the energy to apologise?”
“We’ll get there, but I have something important to tell you first”
Once you’d gotten dressed, mirroring her outfit, you walked over to her and pulled her fully into the bedroom. Guiding her to have her sit on your lap on the edge of the bed. She got comfortable without hesitation.
“It’s about last night” you started, but she just scoffed in your face.
“I’m not having you shout at me again, so if that’s what’s about to happen you can forget it”
She started to try and remove herself from your embrace, but your strong arms stopped her in her tracks.
“It's got something to do with that guy at the club. And before you start, this isn’t me tricking you into something. It’s serious”
“You killed him didn’t you?”
“He might be, what shall we call it. Permanently indisposed, yes”
“Jesus Christ what is wrong with you?”
She pushed off of your lap and this time you let her go. Instantly missing the closeness of her.
“In my defence, it was Steve, not me!”
“Oh so Steve just accidently killed him then did he?”
“Well yeah, that’s exactly what happened”
“You’re so full of shit”
“Nat. I’m telling the truth. It was a mistake. Steve’s laying low for a few weeks, just until we know the police won’t come asking questions”
“Don’t fucking lie to me” Her voice was loud. Pained. Like she didn’t want to say it. But she was at her wits end. You had promised her time and time again things would change. But a few months turns into a year turns into two. Each time you’d say you and her could get away from all of this, something else crops up and you’re back to square one. One more deal. One more thing to clean up.
It was an endless cycle.
“I do this shit for you! He got killed for you! Why can’t you see that?”
She stepped closer to you again. Just about eye level with you as she stood between your legs.
“I never asked for this life. You dragged me into your shit the second we fucked in that club all those years ago. You with your money and your power. You charmed me and I fell for you and now I’m hopelessly in love with a fucking criminal and-“
She was cut off by your lips crashing into hers. You didn’t know if the small whimper that escaped her mouth was one of frustration or lust. Either way, it didn’t deter her from reciprocating the force behind her kiss.
“You never did know when to shut up” you mumbled against her lips before grabbing the bottom one between your teeth and pulling slightly.
“Did your mama never teach you that interrupting is rude?” Even when she was turned on she didn’t waste a moment biting back at you.
“No” you answered as you flipped her over so she was laying beneath you. Red hair splayed out around her like a flame from a hearth bringing warmth to the cold halls of your heart. “But she did teach me how to treat people real special. So that’s what I’m going to do. Treat you special, would you like that?”
A nod was her response. A nod was all you needed. She wrapped her legs around you as you reached under her body, using your forearm to pull her up the bed. Once situated, her hand instantly found your hair and perfectly manicured nails scratched the skin at the bottoms of your skull. Causing you to take a sharp inhale of breath.
Your hands made their way up the inside of her t-shirt with fervent movements that mirrored the way your mouths moved together. Your fingertips brushed her skin as you trailed a path up her torso and towards the lace bra she was wearing. Even without looking at it you knew which one it was. The pale pink balconette bra that came paired with a matching thong, suspenders and garter straps. A Valentine’s Day gift you presented to her the year before. It made you wonder briefly whether she expected this.
When you reached them you found hard nipples taught against lace. So you pinched them. Hard. Having her hissing and writhing underneath you.
“If you don’t keep still, I’m going to have to restrain you”
“You’ll like that won’t you? Spanking and tying me up all in two days. If I didn’t know better I’d have thought you were a sadist”
The hands that were in your hair pulled at the strands once more. It was a challenge. How far could she go before she paid for her actions? Maybe you’ll let her get her hopes up. Let her push further than she expected to get then take matters into your own hands.
For now you let her have this. So you flicked at her nipples through the material a bit more, then ducked your head to suck on the spot just below her ear that drove her almost feral.
It was all hands and teeth then. Slender fingers removed themselves from your hair and worked to pull your shirt off of your body. Whilst you nipped at her skin and yanked the cups of her bra down, massaging the flesh of her breasts in your palms. There was a quick moment when you had to peel yourself away from the woman underneath you as your shirt blocked your vision and was slung to an unknown corner or the room.
It wasn’t often that you were stripped off first. Perhaps this was your subtle way of apologising for your actions. If she behaves, you’ll humour her. If she doesn’t? Well, that’s a whole different ball game.
“Take your sweats off”. She was hesitant to do as you asked, but once you cocked your brow letting her know you wouldn’t be asking again without consequences, her actions were swift.
She was a sight. Half naked before you. T-shirt raised exposing her breasts as the lace of her bra pushed up the flesh creating soft mounds just under her chin. It was a privilege to see her so mussed. The usual put together figure of Natasha long gone and replaced with a horny messy version of herself.
“Going to let me make it up to you? Let me show you how sorry I am?”
“I didn’t wear this bra for you to just apologise with words now did I?”
“I’d be careful with that mouth baby. Or I’ll find a better use for it”
Perhaps she was learning because her mouth instantly closed at your threats. Not that she was a stranger to having her mouth full. She always was a greedy girl.
“Right, I’m going to tell you the rules. You can’t cum until I say so. You can’t play with yourself unless I tell you to. You have to do as I say. If you don’t follow any of those, you’ll be punished. Got it?”
She nodded. It was simple enough. All she had to do was sit back and be pampered whilst keeping your rules firmly in the back of her mind. Easy in theory. However you knew she might struggle at the first contact of your mouth on her torso. Her hands flew straight to her hardened nipples and began pulling on them lustfully.
“Ah ah, no playing with yourself remember”
She removed her buds from her fingertips and instead decided to grapple at the sheets to quell the need to use her hands for other things.
Her skin was soft under your lips as you went back to trailing kisses down her body. It was one of the things you remembered the most about her after your first time sleeping together. How she felt like silk under your touch. Tongue licking over soft planes of skin, savouring the taste of her. You’d dreamt about her every night until you saw her again weeks later. And now you have her all to yourself.
Moments later you reached the top of her centre. Short hair prickly against your nose, mouth, chin as it started to grow back. Even from where you had stopped you could practically smell her. Her want for you. Her facade of stoicism crumbling around her at the mere act of her body responding to your touch.
As much as you would like to tease her. Make her beg for it. You had a constant desire to taste her. To lick her free of whatever juices her body released and savour it against your tastebuds. So you went lower. Lightly caressing her bundle of nerves with your tongue. Receiving a twitch and a low moan in response. Then even further still until her folds were for your taking.
She was addictive. Tangy, salty and sweet all at once. Nothing could compare and you were about to have your fill.
Greedily you attached your mouth to where you knew she wanted you. She moaned wantonly as you probed her insides with your tongue. You did too. The vibrations of it rumbling up her body.
“Fuck, just like that”. She was breathless already and you’d only just started.
Moving from her folds up to her ignored clit, you licked a stripe over the top of it. The hood of it moving back so the whole thing was exposed for you to do with as you pleased. You sucked it into your mouth without warning. Her whimpering evolved into a mewl and then almost a wail once you grazed it with your teeth.
You didn’t give it the full attention it deserved just yet. Give her just enough but not never more. Her legs shook at the lack of progression you were making with her.
“If you don’t fuck me properly, I swear to god I’ll- fuck”
She was cut off by you sucking hard and using your tongue to swirl around her bundle of nerves. Coating it in saliva. Lubricating her clit to creat as little resistance against it as possible.
Her hands clenched the sheets harder if that was even possible, and when you chanced a glance at her, her eyes were scrunched shut and her bottom lip was being held tightly between her teeth. A small indication that she was getting close.
“Don’t cum. Hold it for me baby”
“I can’t, I need to”
The movements you were administering against her core slowed down slightly. An agonising pace for someone who craved release. Yet you proceeded to bring her closer. Her hands found your head once more as she rutted her hips against you. And all of a sudden she was stiff. Clenched. Frozen. As she came into your mouth.
“What did I say, Natalia?” A reprimand muffled by the hold her legs had on your head.
“I know what you said. But you were taking so damn long and I was getting impatient” her chest heaved as she answered you. Her skin was already flushed pink and she was only one, premature, orgasm in.
You didn’t respond. You just sat up from between her legs and took off your own sweatpants. The act made Natasha uneasy. She was used to you getting your own back almost instantly. So when she was met with silence after her snarky comment, her heart beat increased again.
It made you chuckle slightly. The way she squirmed as she waited for you to do something. What would she do if you just stopped altogether. Drag you back or scold you for not finishing something you started? Perhaps you’d try that one day. But now wasn’t the time.
“Turn over. Hands and knees. Face the headboard” She had an idea what was about to happen when you leant over to your bedside table. The well known roll of the bottom drawer making the hairs in the back of her neck stand on end. “Turn the fuck over”
She was pushing her luck and she knew it. You had been relatively gentle with her thus far, yet if she proceeded to disobey you, that might not be the case.
Once again, she listened. Eventually rolling onto her stomach and using her arms to push herself into position. The cotton of her shirt brushed the middle of her back as she positioned herself just the way you liked as you ridded yourself of your remaining clothes.
“You look so pretty all spread open for me like that” it wasn’t a secret to either of you that you liked her like this. Pussy pink and ready for whatever strap you decided on. This round found a red eight incher attached to your now naked hips. It was Natasha’s current favourite.
You leant forward just a fraction finding the end of the toy pressing against your girlfriend's core. Her hips moved backwards to hopefully help aid the toy inside her, to no avail. You held her hips, hard enough to leave bruises and you reminded her, once again, to stay still.
After she finally keeps her body stationary long enough for you to deem appropriate, you push into her in one swift movement. It was unexpected. So much so that Natasha had to fly a hand out in front of her to stop her head smacking the headboard.
“Jesus Christ”
“He’s not going to help you now baby”
You didn’t even give her a chance to adjust before you started pounding into her. In and out at an agonising pace. She was wet. So wet that you were sure that if someone stood outside the door, they’d hear the squelching of her arousal through the wood.
Slap after slap. Thrust after thrust and in no time she was on the edge again. But this time you didn’t take any chances. You pulled out as soon as she started to quiver beneath you.
“Fuck you” she was seething. Never one for being denied anything. Let alone the peak of pleasure when it was in her grasp.
“I think you’re confused. I’m the one that’s fucking, not the other way around. Do you want more? Ask nicely and maybe I’ll let you have it”
“Please, give it to me, I’ll be good I swear”
Shuffling closer to her again, you grabbed the strap, sticky with her, and smacked in against her cheeks repeatedly.
“You better, or we both know what will happen if you don’t behave”
She twitched under each small connection with the still sensitive skin of her ass. Last night still ever present as she hissed slightly at the pain.
Swiping the tip against her then aligning yourself, another push forwards and you were inside of her again. Hitting that spot inside her that made her so weak you had to remove one hand from her hip wrap it around her front to keep her upright.
“Stay with me baby, we’re not finished yet”
She practically cried at the effort of having to use her own strength. So you changed tactics.
“Sit up, on your knees so your back is against my front”
“I can’t, you feel so fucking good, I can’t”
You growled at her response and decided to help her. You grabbed a handful of her sweaty hair, wrapping it around your hand and wrist and used that to pull her upwards. Her back arching as you did, giving you the perfect eye of the strap moving in and out of her. Another yank and she was flush against you.
“You belong to me, remember. Look at how you obey me. No one else can own you like I do. Look at what happened when someone tried to take what was mine. Dead at the bottom of the river. Tell me baby, whose are you?”
Your voice was a whisper in her ear as you rested your head against her shoulder. Each word brushing against her skin. You could feel her shiver in response.
“I’m yours. Always just for you. Please I’m so close”
“Do you deserve it? I’m not so sure. Will you be a good girl from now on?”
“I will, I can. Please just- fuck”
Her arms flew upwards and around your neck giving you the perfect opportunity to play with her nipples again. Torturous flicks against them with your index fingers. She always did have sensitive nipples and you loved how pliant she became whenever you touched them.
“Go on then. Cum for me Natalia”
She didn’t need to be asked twice for that one. As soon as you granted her permission, she let go with a moan loud enough to be heard in the foyer at the front of the house. It was nothing your staff hadn’t heard before. She had never been one to be quiet in bed.
Her body shook as her orgasm ripped through her. You let her fall forward and breathe heavily into the cushions. Slowly pulling out of her, you joined her once you’d removed the strap, sweaty skin feeling cool against the silk sheets.
“You didn’t go as hard on me as I thought you would”
“Maybe I’m turning over a new leaf”
“Or maybe you’re getting soft”
Could she be right? It wasn’t out of the realm of possibility. You’d do anything for her to keep her safe.
Even kill anyone who dares to lay another hand on her.

The music was so loud you could feel the bass in your chest. It almost made you breathless, the vibrations through your bones. Each beat was met with the jump of the ice cubes floating in your drink.
Places like this were never really your scene. Even as you leant against the far wall of the club you could smell the sweat from the damp bodies dancing in the centre of the room.
Watchful eyes traced over the crowd as the lights flashed against their features. Making the shadows dance across their faces. A technicolour disguise giving them new identities if only for a night.
Over the rim of your glass you gazed out atop the sea of partygoers. Each one as unrecognisable as the next. Yet when your eyes landed on a particular figure amid a congested area of the dancefloor, you couldn't help but snort at the scene unfolding before you.
Red hair stuck out like a sore thumb against the blondes and the brunettes. Even with the smoke and the very minimal lighting it wasn’t hard to decipher where she was. Not that she’d go very far anyway.
Especially when she was already in your bad books.
Natasha had a tendency to push your buttons. Lighthearted jests that normally didn’t amount to much more than a stern look or a inconsequential scolding.
But this time, this time was different. She’d gone too far over the line, and it would take more than a lingering kiss on your lips to forgive her. An occurrence that wasn’t common at all, but an occurrence nonetheless.
-
“I don’t see how this is such a big deal”
“It’s a big deal because you disobeyed me again, Natalia”
“What have I told you about calling me that”
“It’s your name is it not? And I’ll call you what I want until you learn how to follow instructions”
“Jesus Christ, it was just a quick trip to the mall. Nothing happened. I’m fine, so just get over it”
“How many times do I have to tell you that you can’t go anywhere without security? Apparently more than you can count to because you ignore my requests time and time again and I’m sick to death of it”
“Have you ever thought about how you’re, I don’t know, literally suffocating me? I’m stuck in this house all day and the one time I want to leave I’ve got to have one of your stupid men follow me around. I feel like I'm living in a damn prison”
“I’m not paying these ‘stupid men’ for my own benefit. They’re there for your safety. A necessary precaution that warrants a little less attitude. Stop acting like a spoilt brat”
“I don’t need babysitters. I’m a fucking adult. If I want to go shopping, I’m going to go. And I don’t have time to wait for your pathetic henchman to get their heads out of your ass to escort me. Now if we’re done here, I’m going out”
“The fuck you are”
“Oh I am, I’m done with you and your stupid rules”
-
So that’s where you found yourself. Hiding in the dark corners of a disgusting nightclub, all because your girlfriend wasn’t able to comprehend the difference between being safe and feeling trapped.
Her idea of a thank you for your concern you ask? Grinding her ass against the first guy stupid enough to by her a drink and place his hands where they didn’t belong.
You’d had enough of her games when she turned around and captured his lips with hers. A passion filled sequence that should only be reserved for you was being wasted on a weasel no heavier than a thumbtack.
She’d by far toed the line. Now she was sprinting into territory even you didn’t know she’d escape from intact.
Downing the rest of your drink and smacking the glass on a table so hard it almost shattered in your hand, you walked with purpose through the crowd. Pushing and shoving at bodies relentlessly until you reached the person responsible for your foul mood.
“Get the fuck off of her” you growled at the man nipping at your girlfriends neck. “You’ve got five seconds to remove yourself before I do it for you. And I seriously doubt you want to be on the receiving end of whatever I decide”
He’d obviously not heard you over the music because he kept attached to her like she was his life support. But Natasha did. And the look on her face when she turned and spotted you was a priceless one.
“Oh what a surprise seeing you here, Natalia. Would you like to introduce me to your friend?”
She removed her arms from around his neck, finally getting his attention as she tried to push him away from her. His brows furrowed with confusion and then vexation as he spotted you lingering next to them out of the corner of his eye.
“Do you mind? We’re kind of busy here you asshole”
“Busy with who exactly? Because it looks to me like you’re sucking face with my girlfriend, and I want to let you know, I’m not a huge fan of sharing”
“I don’t know who the fuck you think you are, but you better leave us alone before I get security involved” his arms snake around Natasha’s waist once more, causing her to wince slightly in regret. Either for herself or whatever you had planned for him.
“Right. No that’s fine, but I’ve never seen an unconscious man scream for help before. Have you baby? Have you ever seen an unconscious man scream for help?”
She shook her head. Whatever hair wasn’t stuck to her sweaty forehead swayed with her movement.
“I didn’t think so”
Yanking the worm off of what was yours with a forceful pull, he didn’t have time to react before your knuckles made contact with his face. A crack loud enough to be heard over whatever techno rubbish the DJ was playing now.
Luckily for him you hadn’t worn your rings that night. So the only souvenirs he’ll have from this pleasant experience would be a broken nose and a deflated ego. Silver linings.
“Lovely. I’m glad we’re all well acquainted” you spoke down to his body, slumped on the floor in a heap that would likely get trampled on before your men gathered him up and took him to an abandoned warehouse somewhere to ‘have words’. “If you’d excuse us”
The soft flesh of Natasha’s upper arm was encased by the hand you just used to punch the lights out of her five minute lover. Her protests fell on deaf ears as you dragged her out of the club and into the cool night air. Pushing her straight into the car you had waiting for the two of you.
“You’re such a fucking stalker” her voice was sharp. It had an edge like cut glass. Used only when felt threatened.
“If it wasn’t for my stalking, who would’ve been there to save you the embarrassment of whoring herself out to whoever gave you the most attention? Think yourself lucky I only punched the guy”
“God, you’re a bitch, you know that right? A grade A piece of shit”
“Don’t start that shit with me, baby. You know I get turned on when you call me all those nasty names”
“Psycho”
“Well it looks like we’re the perfect match then, doesn’t it, sweetheart”
-
“Over the knee, Natalia” your voice was stern as you patted your knees gently to get the point across. You’d situated yourself on the living room couch as soon as you got home. All the intention of having her apologise for her actions before bed. But she wasn’t having any of it. Looks like you’ll have to force it out of her.
“You only have yourself to blame for what’s about to happen”. You eyed her standing form as you leant back against the soft material of the sofa. Arms coming up to spread out across the top of it, legs spreading as you stretched out. “Now get over here so I can teach you a lesson in manners”
She wasn’t stupid enough to ignore you a second time. Her heels clicked across the hardwood floor as she moved from looking at herself in the mirror above the fireplace, to between your legs.
No matter the circumstances, she always did look stunning. Even as her ruby hair was out of place and slightly frizzy from the thick air of the club, she made your heart race every time you laid your eyes on her.
“Where do you want me?”
“Over the knee” you repeated gruffly. Once confirmed, she did as she was told at last. Leaning down and settling herself so her front was over your left leg and her ass was angled upwards by your right.
Stroking your hand up the back of her bare legs, you pushed her dress over her ass once you reached the hem of it. It was a nice dress, you had to admit. An expensive black bodycon with a corseted chest, which you undoubtedly paid for. It accentuated her curves perfectly, but no matter how good she looked in it, she would always look better bare for you.
The round flesh of her behind was revealed to you finally. Only a thin red thong stood out against her milky white skin. Foreshadowing the colour she would more than likely turn out to be after you had finished with her.
A sharp clap filled the room suddenly as your hand made contact with her skin. It wasn’t hard enough to cause welts, but the slight sting on your palm told you she’d feel it in the morning.
“This is what happens when you don’t listen to me”. Another smack, and a small whimper from below you. “This is what happens when you act like a brat”. A third strike.
The stinging must have started to get to her because she started to wriggle against your legs.
You weren’t a monster. You pushed her to her limits but never further than she could handle. So you gave her reprieve by stopping at three.“Now do you understand the rules? Can you listen to me for a change?”
“I understand” her voice was uncharacteristically quiet and wet. A stark contrast to her dry snarky comment she usually supplied you with. It must’ve been the tears she shed at the pain.
“Good. Now go upstairs. I’m done looking at you”
She stood swiftly from her spot in your lap and stumbled wobbly towards the door. Opening the heavy wood with a weak yank and making sure it clicked shut behind her. Her heels once again echoing off of the walls.
A hand ran over your face in frustration. You loved that woman with the force of a thousand tidal waves. But she’d be the death of you if she kept running off like that. How many times does she need to be told it’s not a playground out there. She can’t just play with whoever she wants and think she’ll get away with it.
Concluding that you were now utterly exhausted with this whole ordeal, you stood up and decided it was time to follow your girlfriends footsteps and head to bed. But before you could even leave the room, your phone vibrated in your pocket.
With a loud sigh and a patience that was wearing thin, you answered the phone with a snap down the receiver.
“What do you want, Barnes? It’s late and I’m tired so spit it out”
“The guy from the club, We need help with the clean up”
“Fucks sake. What did I tell Steve about going too fucking hard? Jesus, fine. Meet me at the east bank of the river in fifteen. And make sure you weigh him down properly this time. We don’t want the cops sniffing around again”
You’d hung up before he even had a chance to respond. First Natasha and now your men had decided to ruin your night. Maybe your girlfriend was right, maybe they were stupid.
Either way, it didn’t look like you’d be getting to bed anytime soon.

Standing in front of the full-length mirror, you take a long drag from the cigar between your lips while staring at yourself. Your nude, slightly sweaty body is barely covered by a silky gown. You run a finger down your belly, watching the way your flesh moves.
"I've always wondered if beautiful people know they're beautiful," He utters as he walks up behind you, wrapping his arms around you and resting his hands on your bare hips, stroking your skin. "But you definitely know, don't you?"
A sigh leaves your mouth as you roll your eyes, handing him the cigar over your shoulder. "You don't have to stay," You say casually.
He raises a brow while taking a drag. "Is that your polite way of kicking me out, legs?" He asks with a smirk, as though he thinks that, deep down, you want him to stay.
Turning to him, you take your cigar back and give him a blank look. "You can leave now, Castle," You say bluntly. "You've served your purpose."
"Is that right?" Frank asks, tilting his head with a mischievous glint in his eyes. His hands move down your body where they squeeze your ass, and he pulls you closer into him. "How about round four, hmm?"
"I have things to do that aren't you," You tell him stubbornly. "Now go, before I start to find you annoying and delete your number."
He fakes shock with a gasp, placing his hand on his chest. "You're breaking my heart, legs," He whines, before slowly sinking to his knees and nuzzling his face against your thighs. "C'mon. Just sit on my face again, mommy-"
You cut him off by grabbing a fistful of his hair and pulling his head back, before leaning down and glaring at him. "Leave. Now."
Knowing not to push you, Frank does as you say, begrudgingly putting his clothes back on before walking out of your bedroom.
Not even five minutes of peace are granted to you before your door swings open again, making you groan with frustration. In walks Bucky, which only annoys you further.
"What do you want?" You ask, sitting down on the chaise lounge.
"Was that Castle I saw limping out of here?" He asks, narrowing his eyes.
You shrug, sinking lower in your seat. "Not my fault he's such a slut," You say simply.
"Says the one who's sent a different man limping home every day this week," He mumbles under his breath.
"Is that the only breach of privacy you wanna commit today, or do you have more bullshit to say to me?" You ask him with a glare.
He suddenly grimaces, turning his face. "Do you mind? It's 11 in the morning; I don't wanna see your pubes right now," He grumbles.
You tie up the gown with a snort and cross your right leg over your left.
Bucky looks disappointed as he looks around the room, taking in the empty bottles and filled ashtrays. "It's been three months, boss," He utters curtly, resting his hands on his hips. "You need to get your shit together."
"I don't need to do anything," You retort. "I'm the Queen of New York."
"Well, the Queen of New York needs a shower," He claps back, before narrowing his eyes. "And a shave."
"You can leave, now," You mumble.
He walks over to you, giving you a stern look. "Up, now. You have a meeting tonight," He says, looking you up and down. "And you gotta look good."
"Why?" You ask him with a frown.
"Because you're meeting the man that's gonna help us with our diamond-shaped problem," He says with a growing smirk.
Immediately, you sit up, and your eyes widen. "Seriously?" You scoff. "You got me a meeting with Stark?"
"The one and only," He replies smugly, before clapping his hands together. "Now, get your ass up and ready. You need to be ready by 7."
"That's, like, eight hours from now," You point out with a confused frown.
He raises his brow and looks away before mumbling, "And you'll need every minute."
Once you finally fit Bucky's beauty standards, he sends you on your way to the pretentious restaurant, which is filled with pretentious people who look too rich for their own good.
And the richest and most pretentious of all, of course, is your date.
"Have you tried the oysters here?" Tony asks you with a quirked brow. "They serve them with fried garlic, and it is divine."
Looking through the menu, you shake your head. "Can't say I have," You admit. "I usually get the ratatouille."
"Boring," He utters before smirking and raising his hand. "Garcon! We're ready to order."
He orders oysters and steak for the both of you, much to your chagrin as you were really looking forward to that fucking ratatouille, while you do your best to keep up a polite smile.
"And now she wants the Phantom, too," He finishes his long, long story with an incredulous scoff, before leaning forward and lowering his voice. "Word of advice, belle, don't get married. Or at least, not to a woman. They're vicious things, wives."
His words hit a nerve and you sit back in your seat, doing your best not to glare at him. "I appreciate the sordid tales, but I didn't come here to talk about marriage, Anthony," You remind him curtly. "I came here to-" You stop mid-sentence when you spot someone painfully familiar walking closer to you, and for a split second, you're convinced your heart has stopped beating.
It's as though time slows down. As though the other patrons and tables and lights and plates of food disappear into irrelevance and all you can see is him. That hasn't changed. The way everything loses significance when he's in the room. The way you realize that nothing could ever be as beautiful or captivating as him. Steve's hair is a little longer, his beard's a little thicker, and he's dressed like every other pretentious fat cat in the vicinity.
And he's being seated opposite the last person you wanted to see him with.
Natasha's grown out her hair, ditched the blonde, and gone back to her signature dark red, but you'd recognize her smug smirk through a paper bag. Neither of them notice you as the waiter talks them through the wine list but a stone's throw away from your table, and it takes every bit of your strength not to react.
"What is it?" Tony says suddenly, pulling you out of your thoughts. "You look like you've seen a ghost."
Shaking your head, you clear your throat and sit up. "Nothing. I just... lost my train of thought," You say, noticing the impatient look in his eyes as he scans the room in search of a waiter.
"Let's get out of here and find a bar that sells real alcohol," He says arrogantly, turning his face and raising his hand once he spots a worker.
"No!" You say quickly out of panic as your eyes widen. Tony turns back to you, confused, and so you quickly reach out to rest your hand on his. "I want dessert. They do an amazing chocolate fondue here."
The fondue is sub-par, but something is making you want to stay. A certain blond-haired, blue-eyed something.
Tony narrows his eyes at you suspiciously just as the waiter approaches the table. "What can I do for you, Sir?" He asks politely with an expectant look.
For a few seconds, Tony says nothing, and you deflate. But then he holds up his hand. "Get us some fondue and fruit," He orders lowly, making you smile.
"Thank you," You say, feeling both relief and pure anxiety at the notion of being here any longer.
"This fondue better be incredible," Tony grumbles. "I wanted to go somewhere a little quieter, belle, so we could talk."
You know what he really means, so you flutter your eyelashes and smile sweetly at him, rubbing the back of his hand with your fingers. "We can talk here, Anthony," You say, tilting your head. "About whatever you want."
"Oh, really?" He asks you with a smirk as he becomes re-interested. "You mean you didn't just schedule this dinner because you need my help?"
"Of course that's part of it," You admit bashfully, slowly pulling off the thick, onyx ring from his middle finger. "But there's a reason I feel so comfortable coming to you for help. I wouldn't just wine and dine anyone."
He watches with amusement as you slip the ring onto your own finger, tilting his head. "And what's so great about me?" He asks, eagerly awaiting you to stroke his ego.
You open your mouth to answer but your eyes slip over to Steve again - and this time, he's looking back at you. Unsure as to when he noticed you were sitting there, you freeze in place. Fuck. What now?
Tony glances over his shoulder before looking back at you with a raised brow. "Ain't that the woman you want dead?" He asks.
Your eyes widen and you rip your gaze away from Steve, giving Tony all your attention. "What? No, I don't want Romanoff dead," You clarify. "She has something I need. Something she stole, that doesn't belong to her, over which she has no fucking right."
Taken aback by your passion, Tony whistles lowly. "Jeez. Must be something valuable, huh?" He theorizes.
Letting out a sigh, you rub your forehead. "It's a diamond. Rare and expensive," You explain.
"And she stole it from you?" He wonders.
"She might as well have," You grumble, before sitting back. "Look, I owe someone a debt, and this is how he wants it paid. I need the Elphora, and I don't know where the fuck she's stashed it."
"I see," He mutters, stroking his chin. "I'll have my guys look this over and see what we can do."
"Thank you, Anthony," You say with a smile. "I appreciate it. Really."
"Words are just words, belle," He says, smirking at you. "I need to see your appreciation through action, so I know you truly mean it."
Fuck's sake. You knew he wouldn't make it easy for you, but the thought of owing someone yet another debt is exhausting.
Glancing behind him, you see Natasha reach her hand out and place it on Steve's, stroking it. The sight fills you with a fiery rage, but you clench your jaw in an effort to contain yourself. Calling over a waiter, you wait until he walks over before leaning up to him.
"Do me a favor and send a bottle of the wine we had to that table over there," You request of him, nodding at Steve's table. The waiter nods and leaves.
"What's that about?" Tony questions you with a frown. "Sucking up to her?"
You shrug, leaning forward. "Something like that," You say before smiling at him and softening your voice. "Now, what were you saying? You want me to show my appreciation?"
Tony leans forward too, taking your hand in his and rubbing his finger over his ring you're still wearing. "I'm a very simple man, belle," He claims lowly. "I value the simple pleasures in life."
"Is that right?" You wonder, looking behind him at Steve who has just been served the bottle of wine you sent over. The waiter utters something to him and Natasha before all three of them glance over to you, and you give them a charming wave and smirk. Steve frowns, and you quickly look back at Tony.
"I wanna fuck you," He says bluntly, resting his chin on his hand.
Sighing, you sit back before uttering, "So much for subtlety."
"Subtlety is a waste of time with a woman in your position," Tony tells you smugly. "You're desperate for my help. You need a favor. This is my condition."
Tapping the table, you glance back over at Steve. Natasha's pouring him some wine, and he laughs softly at something she says before taking a long sip. He then looks at you, his smile faltering when he catches your eye. Once again, everything around you fades into irrelevance.
Snap out of it. He doesn't trust you. He hasn't tried to contact you once since you left him. He's sitting there on a date with Natasha fucking Romanoff. Who knows how long they've been seeing each other?
You turn your attention back to Tony and give him a smile. "Your place or mine?"
His smirk deepens. "And I'm supposed to believe that bedding the Queen of New York is that easy?" He asks you incredulously.
It makes you feel nauseous to be flirting with him when Steve is so close, but you tell yourself to toughen up and bite the bullet. You can see that Steve's watching through your peripheral vision, but you're glad that he is, because you want to hurt him as much as he's hurt you.
No, more.
Feeling as though the cold-hearted Queen you once knew has returned from the dead to possess your body, you stand up and walk across to Tony before sitting on his lap and draping your arms around his shoulders. He doesn't protest as you lean down and bring your lips to his, engaging him in a heated kiss. You can hear the blood rushing in your head as your ears pound. Tony's fingers digging into your hips feel like blunt daggers. The warmth from his body is cold and repelling, but you don't pull away. Is that the sound of Steve's heart breaking, or just Tony's teeth clashing against yours? His tongue isn't as sweet as Steve's, whose mouth is usually occupied with the lingering taste of cupcakes or cookies or brownies. The kiss is stale and loveless; a reflection of your life for the past three months.
Tony's the first to pull away. "As much as I'm enjoying warring with your tongue," He begins with a cocky grin. "Why don't you let me get the bill and take you back to my condo, rather than give all these nice people a peep show?"
Nodding, you get off of him and smooth down your dress. "I'm gonna go to the ladies room," You tell him, unable to spare Steve another glance before rushing off to the bathroom, not wanting to see the look on his face.
Just as you reach out to push the door to the women's bathroom open, you're pulled away. Prepared to grab your gun from your garter, you tense your muscles, relaxing when your back hits the wall and you're faced with none other than the owner of Stevie's Sweeties.
"What the fuck do you think you're doing?" You ask him gravely, glaring at him. Your heart is pounding in your chest and all you can think of to do is be cold and brutish, a defense mechanism you've had your whole life.
"We need to talk," Steve tells you, furrowing his brows.
"No, Steven, we don't," You counter curtly. "You said more than enough the day I walked out, which ironically wasn't much at all."
"This isn't about you and I," He informs you. "It's about the diamond."
His words only serve to offend you and your ego is bruised, because a small part of you was hoping he was about to beg you to take him back.
"What do you know about the diamond?" You interrogate him incredulously.
"More than you," He claims. "Natasha-"
"I don't know what the fuck you think this is, Steven, but I'm not about to sit here discussing my job with you," You cut him off coldly.
Ignoring you, he continues, "There's more to this than you think. That diamond never belonged to Maximoff. Not rightfully, anyway."
"Oh, please," You scoff. "Is that what Tasha told you?"
"No," He says, taking you by surprising. "This goes deeper than you know."
"Don't patronize me," You hiss, pushing him back. "I don't give a fuck who the diamond belongs to. Pietro wants it, and I owe it to him."
"And you're gonna use that guy to get it?" Steve asks you bitterly.
You smirk, tilting your head. "Aw, are you jealous?" You ask him with faux sympathy. "Was it hard watching me kiss him, button?"
Clenching his jaw, he steps backwards. "Just hear me out, Y/N-"
"I'd rather go back to Stark's place and fuck him," You say bluntly. "Thanks for the offer, though."
"Y/N," He whispers, his broken tone making your chest ache.
Stay focused.
"Goodbye, Steve," You bid him, beginning to walk away while calling out, "Have fun fucking Tasha."

You Don’t Love Her
Chapter 1: A Business Meeting
Natasha Romanoff x GN (except for one line where Reader is referred to as a woman) Nightcrawler! Reader
Content warnings: Red Room Natasha, violence, blood, manipulation, mentions of organ harvesting, demon/mutant reader, cult and mob shenanigans
For as long as you can remember, your life has been hell; not that you minded, hell has been quite kind to you. Born of a rather infamous shape-shifting mutant and a father whom you’ve only had the pleasure of hearing about in ancient texts, you’ve grown comfortable with the… peculiarities… surrounding your past. These peculiarities made up more parts of your life than you could count on the six fingers of your hands, and these peculiarities led you to such compromising positions as the one you found yourself in now. Lips curling into a smirk, your tail flicked with glee at the sight before you; it wasn’t often that one of your men brought you a worthy sacrifice, especially not one so vibrant as the flame-haired woman who stood before you. You could tell you weren’t what she was expecting, you often tended not to be. Your eyes followed the woman’s own with a vague interest, watching as they trailed from the prehensile tail now wrapped around the arm of your chair to your gloved hands, each owning two less fingers than your average person. You hummed as her eyes trailed up your form, usually by now those brought before you had begun to hyperventilate; though you suppose that the red-headed woman had known what she was in for. Few of your previous sacrifices had been bold enough to request being brought to your feet, and even less had been bold enough to stare directly up at you with much else than poorly restrained horror.
No, this woman was different, she seemed as though she could care less about the azure hue of your skin or the fangs that had ripped into the flesh of many a sacrifice before; she had only come for business, not to ogle at the spectacle of your mutation. Your smirk widened as you watched her, eyes flickering briefly to the guard posted at your door, nodding your head for him to leave.
“I was wondering when I would have the pleasure of seeing the lovely Black Widow. I’m shocked that you have the audacity to seek me out again after what you pulled.” You leaned forward onto your desk, hands folded neatly below your chin as you rested your weight onto your elbows. Unwrapping your tail from your seat, you gestured it towards the empty chair seated in front of your desk, giving the assassin an expectant look. She sat down quickly, her shoulders squared as her gaze pierced into you; emerald green burning with the color of envy. The intensity of the look would’ve made a lesser woman cower.
You have never been the lesser woman, why start now?
Charming grin met disinterested stare as the Black Widow finally spoke up, and it was then you had begun to understand why she was described as enthralling. A Russian accent coated her words like a warm honey, it would’ve lured you in had it not been for the circumstances surrounding this meeting. “It isn’t audacity, so how about we skip the smooth talk and get to the reason that I’m here.” Chuckling, you shook your head in faux disbelief, the sound rumbling through the air. “Ah Ms Romanova, still so cocky even after all of our time together. Its cute really.” A dark haze began to rise from your seat as you spoke, the scent of sulfur tainting the air as you licked over your teeth. The redhead had been a thorn in your side for months now; shipments had been halted and sacrifices had been slower coming as of late. You’ve had to remind the people under your protection exactly what they were paying for more than once recently. Raising an eyebrow, you waited for Natalia to continue the conversation, sighing in slight disappointment when the assassin remained silent.
So this was the game that Natalia wanted to play? No matter, you’ll get her to break. You always do. You sighed out slowly, your eyes lazily trailing over her seated form as you kicked your legs onto your desk, your body turned slightly to the side in your chair. “Do you know how difficult you’ve been making things for me Natalia? I thought we knew each other better than that….” It was a lie of course, hell you only learned her name from a piece of information one of your men had stumbled upon while supervising a delivery. You had only spoken to the spy through business transactions through which you ended up paying her idiot of a boss off to stay the hell away from your territory. Clearly either you didn’t pay him enough or the man was a fool, your mind rested firmly on the latter. The red-head scoffed, placing a hand on the desktop to rest; a distraction, you thought, she was reaching for something. “We don’t know each other at all, L/n. I suggest you drop the act before I change my mind on the orders given to me.”
You laughed at that, making slightly bewildered eye contact with her. “Natalia please, you know you can't kill me. Why even try?” Your eyes twinkled at the thought of an attempt, the sulfurous haze rising yet again. How long had it been since the last attempt on your life? The last you could remember was when a sacrifice was brave enough to believe a knife would save her. It was a shame you had to bury it into her chest, she was gorgeous. Her valor would have made her an excellent member of your organization, had she not wasted it on such a futile stunt. No matter, that attempt had ended the same as they always do.
Maybe this one would be a bit more interesting. Then again, if the Black Widow wanted you dead, you likely would have been by now.
Your confidence made the red-heads cool demeanor falter, jaw setting in frustration. You chuckled at that; she wasn’t where you wanted her but, you’d get her there. “There’s no act cariña, I’m simply waiting for you to explain why Dreykov is having his spiders harass my cargo. He has enough people to run his operation. I don’t see why he feels the need to take from mine.” As you spoke, Natalia couldn’t help but think of how you worded things in such a sterile manner. Cargo was far too innocent of a word to describe what you dealt in, even as a killer Natalia knew this. To refer to blood and the organs that sustain it as cargo was almost cruel, to refer to the corpses who carried the blood and entrails as cargo was demonic. But, that was what you were wasn’t it? Dreykov’s interest in the corpses was overshadowed by a general desire to see himself at the top, and if that meant halting your shipments, then so be it.
“He is not taking from your living, I don’t see the harm in missing a few bodies from your pile.”
Your face twisted into a grimace, irritation and a dampened anger practically blazing behind your eyes. Is that all she thought this was? Some pile of bodies that you used for god knows what? The thought of such a waste in resources made your blood boil. Your cargo was more than a shipment of cadavers, you refused to have your international deliveries, the lives you’ve saved, the money you’ve earned, be reduced to some form of mortuary obsession.
You should kill her where she sat, have one of your men prepare her for the altar- no. That would be a waste of the woman known as Natalia Romanova, you could use her far better elsewhere. Taking a deep breath, you repositioned yourself in your seat, staring directly into the eyes of the woman sitting across from you.
As green met the pupiless expense of your eyes, Natalia began to understand why so many people found you physically appealing. As physically off-putting as your infernal traits should be, there was a certain softness to the edge that surrounded your features. If she stared for long enough she could make out just a hint of blue fur coating your face, almost like the fuzz of a peach. Had it been under different circumstances this meeting could have even been pleasant, but Natalia had a job to do, orders to listen to, a home to return to. If she was reading the anger etched onto your face correctly, and she knew that she was, her description of your business had struck a bit of a nerve.
Good.
“You may not see the harm, but my clientele does. Not only is Dreykov fucking with my business, but hes fucking with my people. Last I checked, my shipment guards wound up disappearing with my cargo.” Your tail flicked with an animosity of its own, a livewire attached to your body. Standing up, the low lighting of the office shadowed your face, your eyes practically glowing as you glared down at the spy. Her neutral expression followed you up, a slight raise to her eyebrows in challenge. Clenching and unclenching your fists, you put a special sort of venom into your next words.
“I only have so much time in my schedule to dedicate to my followers, and you of all people should know how long it takes to brainwash someone.” A tensing of shoulders and jaw from the redhead eased a smirk back onto your face, yes. You knew what to do now. Taking a step backward you allowed yourself to fade into the dimension of smoke and brimstone, the world disappearing for a moment until you reappeared in the dimension you belonged to; this time, you found yourself leaning over the back of the assassin’s chair. Tracing your hands carefully down her arms, you felt her muscles tense as your fingers danced across them.
“That's right, you would know wouldn't you? That must've been difficult for such a young girl.”
Natalia’s hands quickly grabbed her pistol, her body whipping around to face you; only to be met with a cloud of smoke as you danced through dimensions and appeared behind her yet again. The room filled with the smell of sulfur, your laugh waltzing along the dark clouds created by your power. This time your fingertips traced along her jaw, her hand reaching over to grab at your body in retaliation. Before she could touch your skin, you disappeared into smoke yet again, your voice echoing on the residue.
“You want more from life don't you? More than just killing and hiding in the shadows like a dog?”
A flash of light and the ringing of a gunshot hit the air, the bullet lodging itself into a wall as you teleport away.
“Dreykov doesn’t take very good care of you does he? Ripping you girls away from your lives.”
Another shot
“From your families”
A shuddering breath, a flash of metal as she switches from a pistol to a combat knife once holstered on the spy-suit’s thigh.
“Making you into machines, into monsters.”
Over and over Natalia made attempts to touch you, grab you, harm you, anything to shut you up, prevent you from speaking again. Over and over she failed to touch you, your body always just out of reach of her blade, of her hands, until finally she met her mark, blade piercing into the warm flesh of your palm. A silver edge now coated in crimson stood from the back of your hand, the cool metal of the hilt pressed against your palm as you held it there. You and Natalia stood as if frozen, wild eyes switching from your bloodied palm to the calm smile on your face as you stepped closer to her. Cupping her jaw, you watched as Natalia’s pupils shrink, your ears just barely picked up on a change in her breathing. Leaning into her, you allowed for your body to press into hers just enough for there to be a light weight against her.
There was no need to overwhelm the assassin after all, not when she had fought so hard for her prize. Not when she looked like that, all heavy breathes and ferocious glares as she stood under you.
“I understand what it’s like to be a monster, cariña. I know that deep down you aren't one.” You took a step back, gently grabbing her wrist in an effort to release the knife from her grip. You felt resistance, the Black Widow was not one to fall for such petty tricks after all.
But they weren’t petty at all, were they?
Ripping the knife from your palm, Natalia shoved you away, sweeping your leg quick after to take you to the ground. This time you allowed it, falling onto your back and giving no resistance as her boot was forced into your sternum. The look in the assassin’s eyes almost made you laugh as she pointed the gun to your head, her pupils still hadn’t fully gone back to normal.
“Give me one good reason I shouldn’t kill you right now.”
Her hands were steady as she spoke, her finger tensed on the trigger. She could end it all right now, wipe that smug grin off of your damned face, all she has to do is pull the trigger-
The thoughts were interrupted by something long and prehensile wrapping around her leg, a sharp tip pointed at her thigh. Switching her gaze briefly, Natalia’s eyes were met with the sight of your tail wrapped around her calf, the tip swaying gently against the material of her suit. Turning her gaze back to your face, she watched as your eyes trailed over her one final time before answering. “If you killed me now, you wouldn’t have anyone to love you after you leave all of this behind.”
You reached your bloodied hand up, resting it on the side of her thigh as you unwrapped your tail from her leg. You knew she couldn’t kill you, you'd fade into nothingness before she could try, but the thought was still there. The thought was all you needed.
Holstering the gun, Natalia walked forward, the entirety of her weight resting on your sternum for a moment before she made her way to the door. As she walked away, you tilted your head back to see the bloody print of your hand on her thigh, the sight leaving as the door closed. You stayed on the floor, smiling to yourself in gleeful victory. Dreykov could attack your shipments, could kill your men, could interrupt the tributes of the people from reaching you, but he couldn’t stop Natalia from letting you live. Staring up into the ceiling, you began to laugh to yourself.
The thought was all you needed, and you were most certainly in the thoughts of the Black Widow.

A three-month anniversary, a wedding cake, and a touchy-feely Romanoff: the perfect recipe for disaster.

Series Masterlist
Steve is slightly irritated on his way to work today. Last night, he pointed out to you that today marks three months since you met, and he thinks he made it more than clear that it's a meaningful day to him.
And you haven't even sent him a lousy good morning text.
No phone call, no anniversary message, nothing. You haven't reached out to him at all. Feeling scorned, Steve drives to the bakery with his eyes flickering down to his phone on the passenger seat every few seconds, hoping it'll light up with a notification from you and huffing when it never does.
He grumbles on his way to the back door, slamming it open and preparing for a long day at work. It may only be 6am, but he knows damn well that you're awake. You're always awake.
Hours pass by. It seems like every couple in New York chose today to come into his parlor and have a dessert date, which only annoys him more. Where's his date?
When you haven't messaged or called him by midday, he turns his phone off. If you don't want to contact him, he'll make it impossible for you to. It may be immature, but he doesn't care. He's sick of getting excited when his phone rings out with notification, only for it to be from anyone but you.
He closes the bakery at 6pm, as always, before making his way home. Part of him is tempted to turn his phone back on and call you, but he won't let himself give in so easily. Instead, he buys himself a large pizza and takes it home, where he'll sit alone, and eat it alone, and watch TV. Alone.
"Happy anniversary, Steven," He grumbles bitterly to himself while turning the key in his door. "What a special day."
Entering his small house, he slams the door shut behind him before tossing the keys on the stairs and making his way to the living room. When he walks in, though, his heart skips a beat and he drops the pizza.
"What the heck?" He whispers, eyes wide and heart racing.
There you stand in his living room which you've done your best to decorate. Half of the room is filled with flowers, from hydrangeas to tulips. Candles are lit and sitting on every surface, chocolate covered strawberries and champagne await him, and you yourself are in a silky red dress with a high leg slit; the one you wore on your first date.
"Happy anniversary, Steven," You say with a coy smile.
"I- what?" He sputters, taking a few steps further into the room. "What is this?"
"It's our special day," You reply with a grin. "Surprise."
His lips part. "This... is this why you've been ignoring me all day?"
Biting your lip, you shrug. "That's what- it's romantic, right? Make you think I'm not doing anything then... surprise!"
"No, I just- I've spent all day assuming you'd forgotten, or didn't care," He whines lowly, despite how much he just wants to grab you and hold you.
Your heart breaks as you step forward, concern in your eyes. "Oh, my baby, I'm so sorry," You apologize, rushing over to him. "I didn't mean to upset you; I thought it would be fun."
He pouts slightly, feeling like a brat but not caring because he knows he can get away with it.
With a sigh, you take his hand in yours. "Look, button, I'm gonna be honest... I've never really had an anniversary with anyone," You admit sheepishly. "I've only ever seen what people do on TV; I don't know what real people do."
"They just spend time together," He says softly. "Maybe buy a gift- not an entire flower garden."
"You don't like it," You say gravely, feeling like a total idiot.
"No, baby, I love it," He promises, placing his hands on your hips. "I'm sorry for being ungrateful-
"No, I understand-"
"It's just been so hard not talking to you all day," He finishes, pulling you closer. "Missed you."
"I missed you, too," You reply with a smile, leaning up to gently kiss his lips.
"You look absolutely beautiful. I love you in that dress," He breathes out, looking you up and down before glancing around the room. "This all looks incredible, I- is that a cake?"
You bite your lip as you nod slowly. "Uh, yeah... I thought, you know, nobody makes cake for the baker, so why don't I make my baker a cake?"
"You made it yourself?" He asks incredulously, letting out a laugh as he walks over to where it's placed on the table. It's flat and round with jagged edges, and a sad attempt to ice the words '3 Months' is on top in pink.
"Sure did, button," You say proudly. "Though, I'm not sure how good it's gonna be. I forgot to add the sugar. And the eggs."
Snorting, he leans down to break off a piece. "I'm sure it tastes amazing," He says sweetly, taking a bite of it. His face twists as he chews it, grimacing.
"Stevie, you don't have to-"
"Tastes great," He claims through gritted teeth as he swallows it down. "You really, really shouldn't have, baby."
"It's inedible, button," You huff. "Stop buttering me up; you do enough of that at work."
Steve shakes his head before turning back to you and gently pulling you closer to him. "How about we leave the baking to me, hmm?" He suggests, smirking. "And you can stick to doing what you do best."
"Which is?" You ask curiously.
He leans closer to you, until his lips are brushing against yours. "Being the prettiest girl in the whole world."
"Oh, shut it, you sap," You grumble, kissing him nonetheless. "You know, I really thought this surprise would have you on your knees for me."
"Always on my knees for you," Steve mumbles against your lips. "S'that what mommy wants?"
"I didn't expect you to walk in with such a bratty attitude," You say lowly cupping his chin. "Thought you'd be begging to please me; to let me do whatever I want to you."
"You can do whatever you want to me," He says earnestly. "What do you wanna do to me?"
Looking up, you meet his eyes and slowly trace your fingers down his chest. "I wanna fuck you, puppy."
"Then fuck me, mommy," He whispers. "I'm yours."
Ten minutes later, Steve is face down on the pillows on his bed, eagerly waiting for you.
You're on your knees behind him, lubing up the dildo strapped to your waist. With a raised brow, you stroke his thigh. "Are you sure you're ready for this, button?"
After weeks of only using your tongue and fingers on his tight hole, Steve is craving for you to fill him up properly. He's already breathing heavily in anticipation, his lips curling up in a smile. "Yes, mommy. I'm ready. Please."
The dildo itself isn't too big, but it's definitely bigger than your fingers. Slowly, you bring it to his ass, making him gasp. You smear the lube around with the tip of it, before carefully pushing it into him.
"Oh, my God," He whimpers, squeezing his eyes shut at the feeling.
"Are you okay, button?" You ask him, stopping when you're around two inches in. "Too much?"
He takes in a few deep breaths before opening his eyes and turning his face to you. "Deeper."
You bite your lip at his request before slowly edging further in, making him whine.
"Oh, yes," He cries, grabbing fistfuls of the sheets. "Mommy, so good."
Once you're all the way in, you pull back out, making him moan louder than ever. With a smirk, you build up a pace and start fucking into him, not too hard or fast at first.
"My puppy's taking it so well," You coo, stroking his hair. "Being such a good boy for me, baby."
"Mo-ommy," He cries weakly as the bed creaks beneath him. "Faster, please."
"Yeah? You want it faster, you little slut?" You tease, doing as he asks as you speed up your thrusts.
"Oh, oh, fuck, yeah," He sputters as his eyes roll back in pleasure. His dick rubs against the duvet with each of your thrust, the pleasure overwhelming him.
You fuck into him harder, spanking his pretty ass a few times and watching it redden instantly. Steve's cock twitches against the bed and he shudders, feeling his climax approach.
"Can I cum, mommy?" He asks you obediently.
Leaning forward, you place a soft kiss to his back. "You've been such a good boy for me tonight," You coo gently. "Cum for me, baby."
With staggered breath, he lets go, grunting as you thrust harder into him. His cum shoots out in spurts, making him cry out loudly.
"Yes, mommy!" He sings with utter delight. "So good."
You slow down your thrusts before carefully pulling out of his throbbing hole. Steve's left quivering on the bed as he comes down from his high, whimpering for you.
Pulling off the strap, you collapse next to him, smiling warmly at him as you stroke his cheek. "You were so good for me, pup," You whisper gently. "Made mommy proud."
His eyes light up at that as he moves closer to you. "Really?"
"Really, baby," You promise. "You made me so proud."
Swallowing thickly, he trails his hand down your stomach. "I- I wanna make mommy feel good," He mumbles bashfully, stroking his fingers over your tuft of hair before finding your folds which he spreads apart in search of your clit.
You're already soaking wet when he starts to touch you, rubbing gentle circles on your bud. You let out a string of moans as the sound of your wet pussy fills the room.
"Just like that, puppy," You groan. "Inside."
Obeying you, he gradually slips his already pruning up fingers inside you, whimpering as he feels your warmth around his digits. Steve then starts to pump them in and out of you, determined to make you cum.
"Don't stop," You beg him, throwing your head back. "Please, don't stop, button."
"I won't stop, mommy," He vows, going harder and faster. "Not until you cum."
Your hips buck up against his hand and he bites his lip, watching as you writhe and moan beneath him.
"You're so beautiful," Steve whispers with awe in his eyes, bringing his lips to your ear. "I love you."
Grabbing his free hand, you feel your heart skip a beat. "Say that again, puppy," You order him lowly.
"I love you, mommy," He whines, fingering you faster as you feel your pleasure approach its peak. "I love you so, so much."
With that, you feel a rush of electric bliss hit you as you cum all over his fingers. "Oh, fuck," You cry out, squeezing your thighs together around his hand. "So good, puppy, so good."
He watches with adoration as you slowly come down, breathing heavily. His fingers slip out of you and he leans over you, scanning your face.
Looking up at him, you smile widely. "These past three months have been the best of my life. I love you, Steven," You tell him earnestly. "More than anything."
"I love you, my electric girl," He mumbles back with pink cheeks. "More than anything."
"I want your sweet buttercream."
"Stop."
"Want your... I want your tight little ganache."
"Y/N, that's enough-"
"I want your fat cock, Steve-"
"Oh, my God," He grumbles, holding back his laughter. "I told you, when I'm working on wedding cakes, you cannot be distracting me!"
"I'm sorry!" You claim with a chuckle, leaning against the freezer door. "I just love seeing you smile."
"Decorating wedding cakes makes me smile," He utters while concentrating on piping out the white buttercream onto the cake.
You watch him with a warm grin, enjoying seeing his talent shine through. The hair nets on his hair and beard make you chuckle softly to yourself. After a few moments of thoughtful silence, you speak again. "Question, button."
"Go ahead, my darling," He mumbles absentmindedly.
"Are you gonna make our wedding cake?" You ask casually, playing with the bride and groom cake toppers sitting on the counter.
He stops piping and looks up at you, before letting out a soft laugh. "There's no way you're marrying me."
Raising a brow, you let go of the toppers and take a step closer to him. "What's that supposed to mean?"
"I... you're my dream girl," He says curtly. "I don't get to marry my dream girl; that would be insane. That's not how life works. Especially not mine."
"Steve, what?" You scoff, utterly baffled at his thought process.
"The fact that we're dating at all?" He asks incredulously. "I'm pushing my luck already, but I'll make the most of it while it lasts."
Slightly offended at his disbelief, you cross your arms over your chest. "You know I don't just date anyone, Steven. I'm in this for the long run."
"What's long for you?" He asks with a frown.
"Your dick," You answer, unable to ignore the perfect opportunity.
"No, I mean what's long for you in terms of relationships?" Steve questions you curiously.
With a shrug, you move closer to him. "Forever."
He somehow looks taken aback. "You want me forever?"
You nod before confirming, "Forever."
"What if you get bored?" He interrogates you with a raised brow.
Feigning contemplation, you bite your lip. "You know what? I didn’t think about that."
"Yeah, and what about when you get sick of seeing my face every day?" He presses, putting down the piping bag.
"Hmm," You nod slowly, playing along. "Valid point."
"And- and when you're finally annoyed by the whole pretentious baker thing; like, get a real job, guy," He states with an eye-roll.
"Steve," You say lowly.
"Yeah?" He asks with an expectant look.
You take in a breath, though your next phrase doesn't need any second-guessing or debate. "Marry me."
His face drops, his lips parting in shock. Steve feels his hands tremble as he wonders if he heard you right, as the image of you in a wedding dress flashes across his mind. "Huh?" Is all he can say.
Before you get the chance to say anything else, the bell at the front rings out, signaling that there's a waiting customer.
You give him a small smile. "You should probably go see to that, button."
"Yes," Steve says firmly, before clearing his throat and nodding. "Yes, I do. I mean, I should."
Watching him make his way to the front, you bite your lip. What's wrong with you? Proposing like it's nothing? As if someone as fucked up as you deserves someone like him?
Sighing, you shake your head. You've always known you were selfish, but this is a little too far. You'd ruin him.
Once it's been a few minutes and he still hasn't returned, you curiously venture to the doorway to check on him. When you hear a familiar voice paired with a familiar head of blonde hair, you huff. Of course.
"I was thinking about your offer," Natasha tells Steve with a coy smile as she places her hand on top of his. "And I would love to hire you for my sister's birthday party this weekend. I want it to be classy; no cupcakes or brownies."
"I understand," Steve replies politely. "I can do some nice macarons for you, maybe some chocolate truffles?"
"Sounds perfect!" She exclaims. "I'd also love some of those gorgeous mini lemon tarts that you do."
"I can do that," He assures her. "Will that be all?"
"That should be fine; it's only a private soiree," She informs him. "Could I get 50 of each?"
"Absolutely," Steve replies while making a quick note of the order. "And this is for Saturday evening?"
"Yes; are you able to drop them off, any time before 7?" She inquires curiously. "If so, I can pay you in person on the day."
You roll your eyes at her tactics. Those are your tactics. And that's your Steve.
Once they come to an agreement and she finally leaves, you make your way out to the front. Noticing your arrival, Steve lifts up the receipt. "I did it."
"You did, button, good job," You praise him warmly, before frowning. "You should've made her pay in advance. That's a lot of work for you to do."
He shrugs, "I just went with whatever she wanted. I didn’t want to risk her changing her mind, or anything."
"Right," You say with a nod, looking at your watch. "Well, it's 6. Let me take you home."
Glancing down at the receipt, he rubs the back of his neck. "Uh, I should probably stay a while; make a start on this order. I only have a few days, and I wanna get as much prep done as I can - plus, I have that wedding cake that needs to be done by Friday."
Slowly nodding, you take a step back. "Right. Of course. Do you want me to stay with you?"
Why does it feel like there's an elephant in the room that both of you are refusing to acknowledge?
"That's okay, you don't need to stay. I need to concentrate, anyway," Steve replies, turning away from you to start writing down the ingredients he needs to set out.
He was perfectly able to concentrate before you dropped the proposal-shaped bomb.
Feeling awkward and as though your presence is unwanted, you wince. A part of you wants to call him out for being weird, but a bigger part is too proud to do that. Instead, you wallow in the tense silence, wondering if he's thinking what you really hope he isn't.
Was it too much to ask him to marry you? Was he giving you an out earlier when he said he didn't expect this relationship to last very long? Did he say that because he didn't want it to last very long?
"Well, I should head out," You announce as casually as possible. "Got some business to take care of."
"Okay," Steve replies shortly, making your whole body freeze up.
You open your mouth to tell him you love him, but in this moment, you realize you've forgotten how.
"Steve?" You whisper, feeling your heart pounding in your chest.
Finally, he looks back at you, an unreadable look on his face. "Yes?"
Please, tell me you love me. Please, remind me how to pronounce the words. Please, tell me I'm your dream girl and that you want nothing more than to marry me.
"Please," You begin weakly, before clearing your throat. "Uh, please, let me know when you get home safe."
He slowly nods before saying, "I will," and returning to his notes.
Fuck.
