Elizabeth’s eyes darted up in alarm at the distinct feeling of rapidly gathering fonons. And not just any fonons, a combination of earth and water. The sensation of a lead weight forced her heart to plummet to her feet. Sweet baby Yulia, he’s casting Frigid Coffin, here, in the middle of a city, with hundreds of people standing around! What was this man thinking?! Casting an arte like that and one that could not be avoided?! Had he lost his mind?! It certainly seems that way.
As a Marshal, she was fully authorized to use deadly force to subdue an opponent under the right circumstances, and from what she was seeing, this fonist was as dangerous as they could come. But she took no pleasure in taking a life, not unless she absolutely had to. Despite the situation, Elizabeth did not want to hurt him. She had just seen him moments before, walking causally and calmly with his companions. Then in the blink of an eye, he snapped.
This was not the behavior of someone who was in control of themselves.
But before she could do anything, the lives and safety of the innocent came first. In typical Malkuthian fashion, rather than run to save themselves, the idiotic bystanders stopped to watch the unfolding situation. Elizabeth swore her fellow countrymen were far too curious for their own good. Least Kimlascans have enough sense to get out of the way.
Elizabeth took off into a sprint, wanting to come between the man and the crowd before the arte was cast. “Move, now!” She shouted. “Before he kills all of you!” Then as if a fonstone bulb had gone off in their heads, the onlookers began to run in multiple directions, taking refuge wherever they could find it. However, a lone child, no more than five, either failing to heed her warning, or cruelly abandoned by her frightened parents, stayed behind. The little girl looked around, suddenly aware of the lack of her caretaker’s presence, and began to sob. “Mommy?” Her tiny voice was heartbreaking. “Mommy!”
The Marshal’s sprint quickened and time seemed to slow as the gathering fonons reached the breaking point. A series of icicles rose up from the ground and coalesced into one long, jagged one, it’s target, the whimpering child. Elizabeth lunged forward, throwing her arms around the crying girl. She dove to the ground, taking the child with her. Rolling to the side, Elizabeth held up left arm to the sky, casting a shielding arte. A large fonic glyph appeared over the two of them, but living up to it’s reputation as unavoidable, the icy spear broke through it, shattering into a thousand pieces.
Elizabeth, covered the screaming five year old with her body protectively as a volley of razor sharp icicles rained down upon them, sounding like breaking glass as they struck the pavement. Once it had calmed, the Marshal sat up. The girl’s mother was beside them now, taking her daughter out of the line of fire, stopping only briefly to touch Elizabeth’s shoulder in thanks. For a moment, she caught her breath before turning her sights back towards the man.
Dear Lorelei… that’s Jade Curtiss…
The name alone was enough to strike fear into the heart of any fonist. She had seen him a few times in passing in her years as a Marshal. He had a reputation as being an unrivaled fonist, a literal god in human form. There was no way she could take him out with brute force and artes were completely out of the question. He had already destroyed one of her best and she knew from rumors he had far more dangerous and deadly ones in his expansive repertoire. What happened? He was known to be so cool, almost cold, and deviously calculating. But what had caused such a well-respected and collected soldier to crack so suddenly?
Elizabeth picked herself off the ground and began to slowly walk towards him. She would try to talk him down. It was her only option. She knew she could never beat him in battle, especially with the amounts of adrenaline he surely would have pumping through his veins now. He would kill her if she raised her hand in violence towards him. “Calm down.” She called out to him. Elizabeth raised her hands in peace. “It’s all right. You’re safe.”
The face that turned to her was terrifying. Twisted in an almost demonically maniacal way, his ruby red eyes burning with a fire not unlike the flames of hell. “You’re okay.” She said gently, trying desperately not to show any fear in her face and voice, only compassion. “No one is going to hurt you.” He was like a caged animal, backed into the corner of his cell. She knew he could strike out at her at any second, lash out and end her on the spot.
Better it be a Marshal in service to her country than an innocent civilian.
“I’m not armed.” She opened her coat to prove she carried nothing hidden on her person. “See? I don’t want to hurt you.” Elizabeth motioned to his companions. “They’re all just worried about you. I just want to help you.” A shaking hand came to the shaft of his spear. “Just put the spear down and talk to me.” She pushed the weapon he held protectively before him to the side before carefully reaching up to take his face in her hands. Her mother used to do this whenever her father would become angered, soothing him with her touch. “Hey.” She smiled, murmuring softly. “Everything’s going to be fine, all right?” Elizabeth’s hands lovingly caressed his cheeks. “I won’t let anyone hurt you.”
“I promise.”
Jade stared at her, anger, excitement, bloodlust in his eyes. He would much rather kill her than take her suggestion. One of his party members- a redheaded noble boy, came over as well. It seemed he was inspired by the Marshal’s bravery.
“J-Jade…”
Two victims now. The Colonel twisted his spear away from Elizabeth.
“I’m done playing this game!” Jade yelled back at them madly. “You think you can placate me with kindness and then lock me away! That’s what you do to monsters! It’s a miracle you all didn’t kill me-!” The redhead squawked and narrowly avoided what would have been a lethal blow to the chest. “-As a child! You wanted to. You wanted to kill me! I want to kill you too! Every- everyone..!”
The Colonel’s voice faltered and his face paled. The adrenaline was fading. His spear clanged against the pavement and he passed out rather dramatically right into Marshal LeFey’s arms. The redhead helped her keep him upright.
“He’s never done that before, I don’t know…” He tried to explain. The other friends came over to help too, most of them apologizing. None of them looked to be familiar with the current area, though… And they clearly hadn’t yet sensed the curse slot that was radiating incredible heat now.
Quite a fair amount! Being well-known (who doesn’t want the Necromancer), handsome, pansexual, and not very choosy gets him a lot.
If I had to guess, somewhere in the thirties range- most people he interacts with regularly he’s probably had over at least once. More than half are definately men, and include Peony and Saphir in their ranks.
haku’s room is locked as a general rule, but he will definitely let anyone in if they ask. while he will stay in the room with you when you search, he is very lackadasical about the whole thing, so you basically have free reign... just be careful, it’s probably full of germs.
message me on here or on skype for room questions and descriptions!!
Thought I was all settled in, turns out that the internet's gonna be down for a few days. Apologies for that, and being late on sending messages out. I'll get to them once everything's all back to normal.
