The Doctor suddenly being cruel and telling a child she isn’t special really left a bad taste in my mouth. Its just so far from every other Doctor and it breaks my heart. Regeneration never felt like death to me but…I’m not so sure now.

Yeah, that was the worst part of the episode. Even if Courtney had been a brat--and she doesn't seem to be *at all,* she's actually plucky and adventurous and maybe a little misunderstood, which should be the Doctor's *thing*--there was no excuse for being as cruel as the Doctor was to her with that. And it was weird that he seemed perplexed when Clara brought up how hurtful that was. It's *such* a break with previous Doctors. I'm hoping they have some reason for that?
