The Stammer Releases New Video & Album!

We’ve covered a few of The Stammer‘s releases and each one gets way better than the last! Today they release “Days In Between” and a few weeks ago they released their first single “In Your Arms” in which is the song for the video above. The whole video is comprised of clips from a classic movie that portrays a deeply conflicted man seemingly on the run until his inevitable demise catches up to him. For a found footage video, I’m usually pretty dismissive of the entire category, however, this video held my interest the entire time. Probably because the song is really good (more about that in a bit) but more so because the video clips cut right where the measures in the song end.

The track itself has this great interpol-like progression that incorporates a steady, quick paced drum beat and bass line while the guitar provides texture and the low vocals provide a sense of darkened mystery. “The man that you love is a ghost and I can see him in your eyes” and “But In your arms / There was no one who could reach me / There was nothing that could help me / You were the only thing that still keeps me hanging on” are great examples of the ingenious lyrical composition through out this song and the rest of the album.

All in all, it’s a pretty solid video! To celebrate the release of their new album their next show is TONIGHT at The Fire with Exiles, Mock Suns and Blood Sound! Should be a totally tight show so definitely get out to that, buy their new album and  click play on their video for “In Your Arms” above! SUNDOG HALO  Sundogs, also known as Mock Suns or Parhelia, are a pair of brightly coloured spots on either side of the Sun. They are most easily seen when the Sun is low. The sundog in the photo was observed November 23, 2011 near Donnelly Dome in Alaska, US. Sundogs form when sunlight is refracted by ice crystals with diameters larger than 30 micrometers. They are visible when the Sun is near the horizon and on the same horizontal plane as the observer and the ice crystals. When the sunlight passes through the ice crystals, it is bent by 22° before reaching the observer’s eyes, just like what happens with 22° haloes. The bending of the light causes sundogs to form.  Sundogs differ from haloes in the preferential orientation of the ice crystals. If the hexagonal ice crystals are oriented with their flat faces horizontal, then a sundog is seen. If the crystals are randomly oriented, a halo is seen.
