Anonymous said: I’ve been reading a lot about the extended zodiac (mailny abt the aspects) and I stumbled upon a ‘theory’ which I think is actually pretty accurate - take the aspects wheel and your aspect, then, look at the two aspects neighbouring with yours and read all the three descriptions. You should be able to relate to them all (it doesn’t have to be fully true) and it gives you a more lenghty description abt yourself. (½)
[As a Doom player I’ve actually struggled before with my aspect as I often thought that I’m actually a Void player (not really Blood but that’s because we didn’t know too much abt it) - and now it turns out that Doom neighbours with Void and Blood, which seem A LOT like me, too. The test itself said that I’m either Hope or Life player, but neither of them suit me - even less if I look at their neighbours, but that’s a different topic. What do you think about it? (2/2)]
Ooh! I’ve actually seen that theory drifting around; I didn’t read it in depth so thank you for bringing it to my attention! I looked back at the extended zodiac chart and reread the description for Space as well as the surrounding aspects of Mind and Void. Very interestingly, previous to this extended zodiac, several of my friends as well as the other sisters have adopted “Secondary” aspects that we relate to a lot as well, that isn’t main aspect. I won’t speak on my sisters unless they want to mention theirs but I’ve always had trouble with deciding a secondary; hopping around from several aspects! I’ll try analyzing myself in terms of the test alone, without too much outside opinion!
I have an alternate version of myself I have developed for silly comical purposes that is a Prince of Void; whom I relate to heavily. “They value mystery and the unexplained, and are not particularly bothered by not having all the answers.” (Extended Zodiac, Void). This description was a key feature I had expected in the development of a canon personality of a Void player. However, what I did not expect was, “They don’t take much on faith and would rather live in a state of confusion than believe something that might be untrue or bow to intellectual authority. After all, in order for something new to be built, the old, rotting foundation must often be razed. ” (Extended Zodiac, Void). What I expected was that instead of seeking out knowledge like what Light players strive for, they would already intuitively have the knowledge. Not only this but I was not expending them to refuse to bow to intellectual authority. But at the same time, reading this description makes me feel more tied to certain pieces of it, perhaps not all like I do with Space, but certainly the understanding to it is there. With Mind, I have always had a struggle of love hate relationships with it’s identity. Mind players were portrayed as those who know every logical decision and know everything about whatever they wanted to gain knowledge of. But with the new Mind players description of them being overwhelmed and staying true to logic when even they lose themselves strikes close to home. “They are very concerned with remaining rational, and they have such a firm hold on the constant conjunction of their thinking that it’s easy for them to see the multitudes of the choices laid out before them, which often leaves them frozen and unable to act.” (Extended Zodiac, Mind). Though I do not relate to Mind as heavily as Space or Void, I relate more to Mind than more of the other aspects. I would say this theory that is floating around is more accurate than the test for just the single aspect alone. If one were to use the aspect descriptions to look into what they were, I would definitely recommend looking into both the seemingly associated aspects are as well!
Unlike my sister Ama here, this is the first time I’ve heard about this theory. Re-reading the descriptions for not only my aspect, Space, but seeing Void and Mind being the two surrounding aspects, it piqued my interest quite a bit. Seeing the neighboring aspects had taken me back a bit as I never really took much thought and associated myself with these aspects. Already having myself associated with Life being my “Secondary” aspect, I didn’t take much consideration of Mind and Void. Yet out of curiosity of this theory, I decided to delve into the descriptions in an attempt to analyse myself.
Starting off with Mind first, I’ve never considered myself as a mind player, as I don’t tend to react logically and rationally within situations. I’d often find myself making decisions upon impulse and sometimes becoming irrational at points. Although, I do relate to the new description within areas such as “see the multitudes of the choices laid out before them, which often leaves them frozen and unable to act” in which I can easily see myself reacting so in a situation. Usually finding myself seeing all the possibilities and innovating from there, including the consequences of each thought. Another area would have to be “Their identity is fluid-it can change from day-to-day, from thought-to-thought, from interaction-to-interaction.” Having a constant flow of thoughts coming in and out. changing my views on not only myself but others. A constant debate over my identity if anything, but I wouldn’t say it would be the most important to me. While reading the new descriptions, it was quite interesting to see how the concepts were explained for void as well. There were certainly parts that were proved canon, such as Void being able to seek potential and value the mystery as the trait that will gradually become developed. I was certainly surprised by the fact that “They don’t take much on faith and would rather live in a state of confusion than believe something that might be untrue or bow to intellectual authority.” The traits of Void have always been associated with intuitive knowledge for me, yet reading this made it much clearer on what characteristics Void has that differentiates from others. Being able to strive with their thoughts rather than falsely following others was something that stood out to me, yet I wouldn’t associate it with myself, but rather with the possibility of what would happen within the spur of a moment. Kind of like a passive ability that only occurs once an action is activated.
I wouldn’t say that I’d relate to them as much compared to Space and Life, but it is a great place to start off at. As someone who’s first heard of this theory, I must say that this builds more structure and accuracy for a test that only determines one aspect for you. Recognising the neighboring aspects gives you more of a variety and shows you more perspectives towards matters that might have gone unnoticed. I would definitely encourage people to try out this theory and read into the two aspects!
