Then again, he literally set off from Jindai thinking Mithril was entirely destroyed and intended on rescuing Kaname from the organization that decimated them ON HIS OWN. He was just gonna. Do that. I don’t think saving the world is every anything more than a bonus on this kid’s journey, he just really, REALLY wanted to take Kaname back home and absolutely nothing on the planet was going to stop him ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Now that’s romance!

So apparently this came out in the past week and arrived for my mom to give me for my birthday today???

I was expecting it to end up as Laevatin on the cover, but they kept it as Sousuke! My son 😭 I almost cut Leonard’s face out of the frame out of spite.

I still kinda wish they had translated volumes 11 & 12 to “Always Stand By Me” instead of using “Forever.” But meh. Those two have my favorite cover art:

Sofia really fascinates me (random note, glad they went with “Sofia” because that would be the transliteration of the Russian Cyrillic rather than “Sophia”). I feel like her backstory and character were introduced too late to make the most of her character. She makes tiny cameos in earlier volumes, but they’re so insignificant they don’t appear in the anime and you could entirely misinterpret them. I like to give her more screen time in fic. (And isn’t Kaname the one in the black dress? I thought that was cool, too. But let’s skip the color theory for now.)

Okay okay okay, no more spoilers (mostly of how the book looks). I gotta order the Fumoffu Blu-ray boxset with me Amazon card now ✌️

From the anime guidebook (which came out in English!) that covers the first season: the end had a few pages of an in-series AS magazine. This last page had some photos supposedly taken by characters (of possible staff of the studio? I think “SG” might be “Shouji Gatoh”).

The one by “SK” is probably “Shinji Kazama” and the pic of the Hind happens to be a submission from Gauron lol… not sure who the last two are from.

None from Sousuke but he doesn’t seem like the type to take photos of anything himself. He does, however, have two pages detailing weapons used in the series as “Sousky Segal.” Includes his preferred Glock 26 (which is a 19 in the novel). Fun fact—Glocks don’t have a safety switch for the trigger like most guns do. Hope he keeps that thing unchambered when he has it on his waistband!

Edit per reply: okay they DO have a safety feature, just not the same one other handguns do. Still, keeping it unchambered is probably a good idea if you’re an amateur and not a specialist.

So Arakawa draws Ed using his left (flesh) arm to write, but in Brotherhood he wrote with his right hand while finishing the plan for transmutin’ his mom (he had really good cursive, too!)

I have yet to get to the point in my reread where I can cross reference this, but I KNOW there’s a part where Ed wrote a letter (to Winry I think) about his State Alchemist test and it was in blocky print. WAS ED RIGHT HANDED, OH NO—!

(… CAN AL EVEN WRITE? He can make transmutation circles but those are large and drawn with chalk… it would probably be hard to hold a pen or pencil in the armor, especially since he can’t feel it!)
