Oooh~! So is Camp Cartoon kinda sorta like art fight then?
Hm, not quite, but there are some similarities.
All campers (writers) will be grouped into cabins (teams) and will have a friendly competition to see which cabin can score highest.
When each camper signs up, they’ll submit prompts with specific characters, settings, etc. During the event, instead of ‘attacking’ by creating art for the other team’s PCs, cabins earn points by fulfilling other cabins’ prompts.
There will be bonuses and special achievements and we’ll have loads more details about all that in the coming weeks.
It's great question and I'm so glad you asked! Keep 'em coming! 🩷🫶
what is UP? hope you're having a good time this fine January. I was wondering if you'd found anyone to run the (hopefully) upcoming big bang this year, or if you're still looking for people to do it!
Yes, yes, yes! All the big bang fun is happening over at @tss-storytime (tiny shout-out/shout-at this beloved hellsite for having less than flexible controls for transferring side-blogs) :D
This post has all the info! :D

The Big Bang is a challenge that encourages writers to create long stories within a certain time frame and artists to create works to pair w

You can also add it to the AO3 collection TSS Storytime! Big Bang 2023 if you want. Happy creating <3
What would happen if a writer Dosent get to the word count in time?
Hey there, thanks for the great question! There are two parts to our answer.
First: 25k is not a quick write. It's a full story, one that typically requires plotting and planning. We expect writers who sign up to keep that minimum word count in mind from the very beginning. It's why we recommend that writers begin writing as soon as they sign up and it's why we now have minimum word count check-ins early in the event to help get writers off to a good start.
In short, if a writer is struggling to meet the minimum word count, it won't be a surprise to them. They will know early on that they need help and we expect writers to reach out and ask for that help well before posting dates are scheduled.
Second: Each writer who signs up is making a commitment to an artist to finish their work. Big Bangs are a little different from individual writing challenges like ship weeks or NanoWriMo. If you don't meet your goal in those individual events, you're only letting yourself down. If you don't meet the challenge in a Big Bang, you're letting your artist down, too.
That's a lot of words to say: Everyone needs to consider their ability and time/availability in advance since it is a commitment you're making with other people.
There aren't any "consequences" as we're still in a fandom space where this event is supposed to be a fun opportunity, not a chore. But stories that are not completed by their posting date or do not hit the minimum word count of 25k won't get reblogged to this blog. Ideally this doesn't happen since it would also be unfair to the artist who did put in the effort for your story
