RFA on an Ice-Cream Date!

I really wanted to do Saeran as well because I know he has a thing for ice cream but I admittedly havent played his route yet so I dont wanna say anything that might not be true to his character. At any rate, enjoy!~

The Black Dog...

For the past year or so I’ve been quite a drunken mess. Kinda lost in life and what I want to do with myself and this time I have here on earth. My family lives in an old bungalow-style house that sits a little farther back from the road than the other houses on my block. Old house. Hundred years or so. There is a giant oak tree in my front yard. It’s probably the biggest tree that I have seen in my medium-sized town of 13,000. This tree has always been the focal point of my perception. I don’t really know why, but it always attracts my attention. That tree sits, proudly, under one of the few streetlights that I have on my street. It’s very well-lit and the trunk is literally about four to five feet in diameter. It’s been around perhaps longer than this town has.

It was a Saturday night. I was making my usual galavants around the local bars and getting my fix. My town isn’t quite big enough to be considered urban. I’m two blocks away from a cornfield. Most nights, if I’m up late enough, I can hear the coyotes playing in the woods like they are mere yards away. It’s not strange pull into my driveway and see some sort of animal whether it be a raccoon, fox, or possum slinking it’s way out of sight. When a man comes across something that could possibly be a threat to him he has one of two reactions. It’s either fight or flight. I have always been the type of person to go towards my problems and intimidate. This usually never steers me wrong.

It was a Saturday night. Around 2:30am. I pulled into my driveway quietly enough so that I wouldn’t wake my parents up. I even turned my lights off out of courtesy. This night was different somehow. I wasn’t as intoxicated as I normally would be. The moon was full and I was a little stoned. There wasn’t a cloud in the sky. Just me, the stars, and the wonderful buzz that I had going on.

Most nights I would just exit my vehicle and prepare for the short and dark journey to the back door while I struggle to find the correct key to open my back door. My parents had never invested in a motion light or back porch light of any kind. This night, however, was a bit unique. I exited my vehicle and I felt like I needed some nicotine. I lit up a smoke. Looked around a bit. I breathed in the fresh, crisp, cool air. I got the notion that I needed to take a little walk…

I proceed to shuffle down to the end of my driveway. Cigarette and beer in hand, I survey my domain. I look to the right… The street is clear and peaceful. I look to my left… The street is peaceful. But as my eyes cascade back to my starting point, something dark catches my eye. Something that is not normally there catches my attention. I turn. Try to focus. The first thing I see is the giant oak tree that dominates the landscape that makes up my property. But what is sitting next to the tree is new. Something that doesn’t at all fit into my usually uniform view of my front yard.

After a few seconds, my eyes begin to focus. Whatever is sitting next to the tree is not a stationary object. It’s a dog.

This is where my fight or flight instincts, like I have previously mentioned, come into play. I am a dog owner. I love animals. My first instinct is to make friends. “Hey bub! Come here buddy!” I whistle and put my hand out. Nothing. No movement. At this point, my stomach is beginning to bunch up a bit. Again I vocalize, “Hey buddy! Come here! It’s ok!” I take a couple steps forward. Literally no movement. Just darkness. Just a shadow of a shadow of a German Shepard-like dog that doesn’t belong in this picture.

My blood begins to pump a little colder than normal and my fists start to clench a bit. Now a tinge of fear begins to take over my body. Am I really even seeing this right now? Is this dog a figment of my imagination or have I just had too many late nights in a row? I begin to panic a bit. I’m not one to run from things that scare me. I want to intimidate whatever this is. It’s probably a wild dog or a coyote. I can scare it off. After all, there is only one. I’m packing a knife and a drunken Irish fury. I am a man. One measly stray dog isn’t going to get the best of me!

I set my beer down in the gravel. I have decided that I’m going to charge. I take off like a sprinter after the gun goes off. Keeping my head up and my eyes open to make sure I don’t lose sight of the animal/object/shadow of a canine that is invading my property. I get about 20 yards away and to my terror, it is a dog! It’s a living dog. All black. Pointy ears. Tongue hanging out. Cemented. Holding its ground like it had roots that run as deep as the 150 year old oak tree that it stood next to. Not one flinch came from the animal. Not one falter. 190 pounds of drunken Irish fury was coming at it and not one single muscle in its body felt threat.

I stopped dead in my tracks. What is happening, at this point, is not a normal reaction in nature. Any animal, whether bird, bee, grizzly bear, or tiger will either run or fight. The black dog stood. After I stopped, it looked at me. It almost looked as if it wished that I had kept going. It’s face was inviting me. There was no fear on the animals behalf. Just amusement and fearlessness.

I turned around and ran as fast as I had charged. I reached my back door-step faster than I ever have. Feverishly fishing for the correct key. With relief, I found the correct one and unlocked the door while looking behind my back countless times.

I have never felt a real, mortal, unstoppable fear the way I did that night. Something eery creeps up my spine every time I think about that night. Pure evil was what was standing next to that tree. Whatever the object, it was darker than black. It was certainly not afraid of me. It certainly wanted me. It surely was something that will haunt my memory banks as long as I live.

Maybe it should have been my time. Maybe he was there for someone else. Maybe the dog was a symbol of things to come. All I know is that feeling is something that I never want to feel again.

Ok it may not be that scary, and it’s rather short but this happened only 2 days ago and for no apparent reason. Anyways, my fiance and I were in bed and snoring away, I can’t remember what I was dreaming about but all of a sudden I woke up. It was pitch black and silent and the only thought in my head was “it’s the girl who wants your face” and nothing more. Now, idk about you but that freaked me out. I would like to know if anything like that has happened to anyone else?
