EVENT GUIDELINES: ROTG HALLOWEEN CHALLENGE 2020

13 days, 13 prompts.

Visual, aural, textile, and literary works are allowed - fanart, fanfiction, gifs, edits/manips, cosplay, fanmixes, crafts, or ask-and-answer.  

Unlike other fandom events, reblogs of previously created material are welcome IF THEY FIT THE PROMPT, but creation of original material is preferred.

Inspiration can be drawn from the GUARDIANS OF CHILDHOOD bookverse, the RISE OF THE GUARDIANS movieverse, and any and all associated AUs.

OCs are welcome and encouraged to interact with RotG/GoC characters.

Crossovers are welcome, but please make sure that the focus POV is a character from RotG/GoC.

Works in progress are welcome and encouraged, as long as they fit the prompt. No reason not to celebrate Halloween all year ‘round! No need to worry about having to have something complete before posting.

Don’t feel like you ***must*** post a piece Every... Single... DAY, and/or fill every single prompt.  Burnout is not fun.  But do try to post at least ONE piece during the 13 days of the challenge.

Be sure to tag your works with @rotg-halloween, and list #rotghalloween in one of your first 5 tags.

Please tag works accordingly, and be sure to use any warnings for sensitive and potentially triggering subjects.

It’s almost August, and thus a little more than a month before the autumn NDU fandom event during September.

Do people want to do a “Back To School” event this year, with how strange the offline world is the the time of COVID-19?

Or do people want to do a more generic autumn-themed / spooky NDU event in October?

I’m also running a RISE OF THE GUARDIANS Halloween event over at @rotg-halloween​, but can juggle both if the interest is there.

(Follow the link above to signup. As a reminder, the minimum fic requirement is 500 words about one of the characters or relationships in your assigned recipient’s signup. Other helpful hints about signing up follow:

You will need an AO3 account to signup, and will need to be logged in to sign up!

The form will lead you to a series of requests and then offers (i.e., what you are willing to write).

Requests

You must make a minimum of 3 requests and up to 6 requests.

When filling out your requests, please note NOT to list a fandom, character, or relationship where it asks for one, as this could affect the ease of matching you.

Instead, drop down to the section where it asks for additional tags. There, find the character or relationships you want and list them accordingly; there will be a word box where you can list prompts for the character and/or relationships of your choice.

You will note that you can actually have up to 3 additional tags in the same box. If so, please try to have one character in common for all of them (i.e., Gandhari (character) + Gandhari/Dhristrasthra (relationship) + Gandhari&Kunti (relationship) is fine, but Krishna (character) + Savitri/Satyavan (relationship) + Rama/Sita (relationship) is not). Also, if you are going to have multiples like this, please remember that your assigned author only needs to write about one of the requested characters and/or relationships, not all of them. Please have separate prompts for all the characters and/or relationships that you request!

If you have anything you would prefer not to have included in your gift (i.e., underage sex, violence, non-con, etc.), please have a DNW (Do Not Want) Section in your prompts. Your author is required to respect these wishes. 

Offers

You must have a minimum of 4 additional tags that you are willing to write, and a maximum of 10 (or, if you are willing to write anything, please check the box “Any” all the way down).

If you have any restrictions about what you want to write, please put them in the box and the mod will do her best to accommodate them.

i'm a bit confused on the name field of the arcvzine application form. i'm guessing pseudo is our usernames and url is the link to our social media page?

Not necessarily

We know most people just use their url or username as their pseudo or viceversa, but others not, so the field is there mostly to keep a better control of the applicants or maybe some people just have a different pseudo or similar and we don’t want to mix anything up.

It’s just in case, applicants have put their Url without the (.)com in there if you want you can do just that.

30 Days Of Nightmare Dorks - 2020 Event Guidelines

The goal of this event is to post as much Nightmare Dork University material as possible each and every day during the month of April, to celebrate seven years of NDU.

This event will run on Tumblr and on Archive Of Our Own this year. 

There is still the Dreamwidth account at https://30daysofnightmaredorks.dreamwidth.org/, but it’s really a bit cumbersome to use. 

Drop mod Sylph an ask or a PM if you are posting on Dreamwidth, Twitter, facebook, etc. and let her know whether she has permission to crosspost your submissions if they did not originate on Tumblr.

The event runs from 12:01AM Eastern US Time on Wednesday, April 1st until 11:59PM EDT on Thursday, April 30th.

Unlike other fandom events, there is not a hard-and-fast prompt list for each day.  There will be suggested prompts which will range from the sublime to the ridiculous, but no one *HAS* to use them. 

Here’s a list of prompts, and then here’s the really silly ones from previous years.

And, of course, if one wishes to play with it, just plug in the NDU characters and others into the Unconventional Courtship Pairing Generator and see what happens.
