(Not a confession) would it be okay if I made a splatoon confessions blog but more aimed towards the negative stuff? since a lot of people complain about "salt" in the miiverse community or elsewhere I thought about maybe making a blog where people can just get out all their complaints/rant/etc, but i wanted to check with you first so I wouldn't look like I was copying you or ripping you off?

Yes, of course! You guys are never ripping myself off if you too make a Splatoon confession blog. I don’t own the idea of confession blogs or Splatoon after all! I actually am on pretty good terms with a few fellow Splatoon confession blogs. Link me to it and I’ll be happy to promote you!

Hey all! Sorry about the wait, it’s been pretty hard to juggle Squidfessions along with everything else I’ve been busy with. I just wanted to drop in and say I’m still here! I’ll try to be more active I purromise!

what is the september 9th boycott?!

Sorry I didn’t clarify, on September 9th users are planning to stop using Tumblr for a day to “Boycott” the newest update by lowering the usual traffic the site has.

Hello Mod Judd! This isn't a confession, but I was wondering if you know about/are participating in the update boycott on September 9th? If you have no idea what that is, then just ignore this. Thanks!!

Alright, glad someone mentioned this because I have a very strong opinion on this. To prevent from leaving a mark on people’s dashboards I’m going to put my rant under the cut.

tl;dr: The update has made it extremely difficult to perform my daily duties on Tumblr, therefore I am taking part in the boycott.

I’ve been a member of Tumblr for a good 3-4 years. Since then, Tumblr has gone through a number of changes, from little tweaks to huge overhauls, but they’ve still kept it somewhat neat looking and easy to operate. I do believe there have been some updates that Tumblr users have overreacted on, but this is not one of them.

I suffer from a neurodivergency that I’m not comfortable specifying that makes it difficult reading through things that seem “crammed” together, like huge walls of text, ect. The distracting colors and all around jumbled visuals the update has displayed make it extremely strenuous to browse through Tumblr now for me and a lot of other people. I now actually feel real exhaustion from having to pick my eyes through longer posts.

The old format had a “flow” to it. Not only was it monochromatic, it was designed to lead the eyes down the page in a structured manner.

Another problem would be roleplay blogs. I’d say a good quarter of the 2,800 some people that follow this blog are roleplayers. Taking part in roleplay has become more difficult due to the problems aforementioned. (not being able to see who’s who, jumbled text) A number of Splatoon roleplay blogs that were active followers and were here since the beginning have deleted their blogs thanks to this update.

This update has made people that I found support in and kept this blog going completely vanish from this site.

Many bloggers now feel uneasy browsing Tumblr now, including me. If I didn’t have ownership of Squidfessions and only used Tumblr for my personal, I wouldn’t still have a Tumblr.

My biggest belief would be that instead of fixing the “blockquote spam glitch” some posts have (ex. The International Man of Food) the Staff just threw this update in our face to do away with the problem completely.

This is an intensely bad move on Tumblr’s part. The least I can do is not access Tumblr for a day.

I don’t believe this will create a HUGE impact, rather maybe just show some of the Staff that their “little tweaks” can have an effect on their userbase.

So yes, I am taking part in the boycott.

I want to furrmally apawlogize for the lack of posting. Summer being over fur me I’ve now got quite a bit of work to do outside of Squidfessions, not to mention the Tumblr queue system’s been giving me a clawful time too. I’ll still try to keep up the best I can though! Mod pawsitions might be opening soon too so keep an eye out for that!
