Hey I LOVE XKit but notice it doesn't have an option to block the new Tumblr "community" nag/prompt. Is that something that could be coming in the future or have I missed something at my end?

This is addressed by the successor project XKit Rewritten, which you can learn more about at @addons and download from the Firefox or Chrome webstore (on Edge, use the Chrome web store)

Old Nuclear White Blue

Hey all, you may have noticed that a recent tumblr update broke Old Blue, leading to a dashboard that looked something like this:

I'm happy to report that this is fixed as of Old Blue version 2.1.2. XKit will automatically update over the course of the next ~5 hours, but if you want to update faster, you can go to Other > Update All and click Update all of my extensions to update immediately—but you'll need to refresh your browser for the changes to be applied!

Hey everyone! We’ve pushed a quick update to Anti-Capitalism to block the large video takeover ad Tumblr is running right now. You can go to XKit > Extensions > Anti-Capitalism, click “Update” and then refresh the page (F5) to get the newest version. As always, let us know if you have any questions!

Xkit keeps telling me the auto update won't work. I tried to update manually, but that also did nothing. I followed the troubleshooting, but I could connect to the pages easily, and I have nothing blocking scripts aside from adblock, that, once I paused, did not solve the problem.

Hey all, we’re aware of this issue, it seems to be affecting some percentage of Chrome users (it’s currently unclear how many). We’re working on a hotfix to get it patched. In the meantime—sit tight! Normal XKit updates will be resumed shortly.

Timestamps: OP & Reblogs update!

Sometimes, time context is important. If we say we pushed an update yesterday, and that post ends up getting reblogged by someone a year later, “yesterday” might get interpreted very wrong and confuse quite a few people.

But we’ve fixed that now! The Timestamps extension now puts timestamps on reblogged original posts by default. You can say goodbye to reblogging old news with a feeling of urgency, and hello to realising that all million-note posts are 8 years or so old (without any extra clicks).

You can also extend this to show timestamps on all reblog comments, letting you see just how quickly those hilarious interactions take place or how long it took before someone else thought of a better punchline to a post. Data junkies of all types, this one’s for you.

We’ve also done up the preferences! Want to turn off reblog timestamps? Easy. Want to only have reblog timestamps? Just as easy! Go take a look!

Old Blue is working again!

Hey all! Old Blue has been broken across the site for a couple hours now. Tumblr removed the old, unused code that Old Blue “hooked into”, so we had to trawl through all of the CSS files for the changes!

BUT, three thousand lines of CSS later, we’re back in business! Starting with Old Blue 0.1.0, you should see a full blue website again! But there may be some weirdness, especially on non-dashboard pages—if you see anything that looks too new or too bright, hit us up! As always, you can report extension issues on our support blog, our Discord live chat, or via a GitHub issue.

This change should roll out automatically over the next 6 hours. To get it quicker, you can go to XKit > Other > Update All:

and click “Update all my extensions”

New XKit broken on Chrome 73

Hey all, as some of you may have noticed, many New XKit features are no longer working as of Chrome 73. This includes Tag Viewer, Post Archiver, Tag Tracker, and many other extensions. This is due to a breaking change in how Chrome handles network requests made by addons, and we’re actively working to get this fixed. In the meantime, we suggest using Firefox or downgrading to Chrome 72 (where possible). We’ll let you know as soon as we have an update or estimate of how long it will take us to fix.
